Did you find these tips helpful?
Why did the video get taken down then re-uploaded?
Yesss
Very! Thank you so much!!
@Colin Gajewski You're welcome I know it was a lot of information in such little words glad I could help.
No. Would have liked to see camera settings and what software you used for the editing. This information is not shown.
That bit about the colour of the veins. Dude! Thank you!
"If you're veins are more blue, you have a cool undertone, and if they're greener you have more of a warm undertone. If you can't tell then you're more neutral."
1:07 Dang, he said that so well. I came here for the methods of taking portraits of people with dark skin, left with that and a nice philosophy. Good day.
As a black African woman, I have found that the only people who can REALLY appreciate and honour my skin tone are visual artists/painters. They know how to look at my skin tone and see its nuances and analyse what is unique about it.
Literally, on EVERY single staff photo that has been taken at my workplace over the years, I am a shadow: no eyes, no mouth, no nose, no mouth...nobody really.
Maybe it is because I'm the only black woman working there, maybe the photographer is just useless with light, maybe they just do the photo as a mindless ritual. Anyway, I'm glad I'm done with them and will be resigning in a couple of weeks.
If your features are drowned out in the photo, then the person taking pictures is not a photographer! Hope you find a better place to work. Don't ever settle!
Andre is so chill. Love his articulation. Fantastic video :)
I live in NYC, and have been searching for 2 YEARS for this man!!! Randomly turned on RUclips today and started looking for light boxes for my home on camera filming /audition setup, not even looking for a photographer today and stumbled on this video!! OMG, I think just found my new GoTo photographer!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this video. When I first started shooting and editing I had the most difficult time finding tutorials & tips for darker skin, which is what I was mostly capturing. Most of the time when I was searching I was just finding information on tanned white skin instead of rich black and brown skintones. It took months of trial and error to figure it out. This video is still super helpful and I'm so happy to see more of them coming up!!!
Photography is so freaking interesting and cool! Those shots were SO good.
Andre seems very passionate about his work and so happy to share, it's awesome
This was the missing piece needed to upgrade my game. Thanks.
Justin Anderson I agree great video
That was great. Aundre's a natural teacher. I take a lot of photos in low light and have often struggled with proper exposures + flash with darker complexions.
Thank you! I really want all people to feel comfortable and loved in front of my camera. I'm working on mastering all skin tones :)
True true TRUE!!!😭 It's really disappointing getting dressed up and excited for picture day and boom--I'm not able to look back at that moment in full color. We CAN do better😕
-looking forward towards the future of photography📷
& also
Thanks for this I/E video!!😀
Glad to see you on here Aundre! -- Spot on the tutorial you're a natural.
I'm so happy this video exists 😍
Loved everything about this. I tried finding my undertone years ago but couldn’t pinpoint it.
The photos are awesome. Thank you for making dark skin look just as beautiful on camera!
Aundre has such a great smiley face that even it's 01:55 am in France and i'm smiling like a baby koala instead of being close to sleep. It makes the video even cooler to look at :p ! Keep this attitude man, it's great ;) (and nice tips by the way ^^)
I simply enjoy listening to this tutorial. Super objective, super helpful!
I do know why you reposted cause I noticed the errors in the previous video and now the video is just smooth through every clip, great work and like I said before in the previous video:
This Video is amazing with great tips and guidance I would love to keep seeing videos like these.
yeah, totally had the wrong edit up! whoops. thanks for the nice words. glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for this video! And for explaining undertones and for how one can use them to their advantage when taking photos. As an aspiring photographer, this is much needed and valuable information!
Nice tip on the "Would you wear silver or gold" and also the vein colour trick. Didn't know that one. Many thanks for sharing. On the metering issue, incident light metering makes any concerns around reflectance of someones skin (or fur if photographing a black or a white pet) go away.
Big respect to moment! Diversity is important
low light photography has always been my fall point. It is a weekness I am trying to overcome and so I thank you for sharing your expiriances with lighting techniques.
I like that you took the time to talk about the cameras exposing for 11% gray and how that affects the subject. I was used to people answering in odd ways that I had trouble understanding when I went to school to learn photography. Man you even post preduction! I want to work with one someday on a photoshoot all the way througyh post.
learning A LOT tysm
I was looking for a video on how to light brown, olive, and dark skin tones.
This video was insightful. Thank you Aundre.
Unbelievably amazing information! Aundre is a great teacher!
This was super helpful, thank you!
I'll have to look at that vein trick :)! Never heard of that before.
This video is more helpful than anything I learned at school...
Learned a lot from this Niles and Moment thank you for this content.
🙌
@@moment Your welcome always great stuff on this channel. Can't wait for next film contest/meet up and chill with you guys again.
How do you shoot dark bald people, or bald people in general? Do you still use a hair light?
Do you have any more resources on lighting two different (“opposite”) skin tones?
This is super useful, thank you so much. Other videos and articles about this topic are so vague like telling you to "keep in mind the tones and highlights" but not telling you how to actually do it. I really appreciate how practical this video's advice is. Thank you thank you thank you!
Bruh, you have this great teaching skill.
I just came back from a long camping trip. It so awesome to see two new videos! These tips a great!!! More photo editing video tips please!!!
Thank you for all the great tips. Still trying to determine if my veins look blue or green. LOL
I don't know much about photography, but my partner is a dark skinned mixed man, and I'm a very pale olive multiracial woman, and I'm very worried about our wedding/engagement photos not coming out well cause of the large difference in skin tone.
Thank you! I learned a lot from this!
Dress needs to have a masterclass on this , those photos were amazing
I really enjoyed this video, as Aundre provided a wealth of information at a blistering pace at times. This is perfect for this medium, because one can go over the video as many times as needed. Thanks goes to all who participated in this production!!
With Niles in California, Moment now travel coast to coast! Great jobs guys!
we're all over the place!

Thank you for the upload
"That fun internet fade" :D
You uploaded it twice?
Good info, even though I don´t find it particularly challenging at all
repost - had the wrong edit up. glad you found the info helpul!
I so needed this! But I also have a question based on my type of photography. I'm an amateur sports photographer. How do I get darker skin tones to be correct in sports. All the shots here are in a controlled situation. How do you deal with skin tones in a non controlled situation like sports.
I was wondering about daylight, too.
Hey I'm a 17 year old Black sports Photographer in highschool, I've been shooting from January 2019 to present day. You can reach out on instagram @mtruproductions and we can talk. I shoot softball, basketball, soccer, tennis and others. Keep shooting, keep learning.
Such good tricks! Thank you
thank you for creating this content
Good vid, very thorough
Great video, you clearly know your stuff
Wow! He's incredible
18 percent gray. Camera meters and light meters balance for 18 percent gray.
What a great video 😃 thank you.
That was excellent! Thanks.

Great video. Very helpful.
This was really helpful!!
Thank you!
Thanks for these photos Samples
Really interesting.Cheers!
This is crazy but, the young lady at the 6:00 mark - I think I know her. We worked on a project in a Brooklyn sneaker store a few years ago and I've been trying to track her down ever since. Do you have her contact info?
Which phone (iphone or pixel 3) works better for darker skintones?
THANK YOU!!!!! 3 questions. Where are the pics taken on the phone? What lens is on the phone and do you have a link or the info for the specific lights he used?
Can you share your camera settings?
Amazing!
That's what I call pro tips!
Wow ❤️
Great video man .. where on earth did you get that backdrop setup? That looks like it was commercially built on site and not bought! Can you link me to that setup please?
Great video. Thank you.
glad you enjoyed 🙌
What studio light do you use please?
Andre /kinda/ reminds me of Mark Fishbach? he's super beautiful
Did you re-uploaded it because of the audio from the b-roll? :O
Bro tell me setting

Moment Oh I not noticed lol! Anyway it’s a cool thing the Attention by the quality of the content lol
Hey Nigella!!
Can you do a updated.. editing video on the iPhone XS Max +
good idea!!!
What about the other android phones....no lense for them
Had a fuckin heart attack just reading "shooting dark skin tones". Took me a second to realize what is meant.
That's cool moment* guys
Would you recommend editing photos on the computer or would I be able to do it through my phone ?
It happens I edit with Lightroom she when I try snapseed on my iPhone I choose the snapseed editing ...( and it’s free!)
Me trynna go to Hong Kong 3 years later
🙌🏽
I love the information and Thank you but Question: Are you afraid to say Black or Brown? I find that when explaining these things we must be CLEAR and HONEST!! and this was so vague regarding coloring and WHY camera are set up this way. BREAK IT DOWN and BE HONEST. Segregation... more honesty.
He did not want to offend anyone. Leave it at that
Let’s not. We should educate about the Kodak spectrum. Famed Director Julie Dash speaks of this. Education is key. It’s not offensive at all.
What's the point of asking a loaded question like that unless you found something offensive? He did a big favor by making this video. Too many videos on RUclips explaining lighting and editing that skips past black models. Just leave it at that
EDUCATION is the point!
@@iamtwinkiebyrd6396 education was the point of the video. You wanted ATTENTION
The reupload of it all. 😅
yeah haha whoops
@@moment Still love you guys! haha.
Didn’t I already watch this video a couple days ago?
you sure did. had the wrong edit up. whoops!
This is dope! Inclusion is not only needed but necessary!
Your camera isn't trying to" expose for 11% grey " it's trying to expose for 18% grey, which is halfway between pure white and absolute black.
