My 3DS got a new lease on life after I modded it last year, it's currently my most-played system. In addition to the great 3DS library, I love getting to explore all the GB, GBC, GBA and DS games I missed out on as a kid, especially the fan translations. All that said though, my favourite 3DS game is still Etrian Odyssey IV.

It's a crime that Kid Icarus Uprising hasn't gotten an HD remaster on Switch. The control scheme could easily be adapted to work with two analog sticks. I would love to give this game a shot in a format that doesn't cause my hand to cramp. I still regret selling my copy.
@@reomeo8196 there's a left handed mode in the game. However, you need a Circle Pad Pro for it. You could technically enable it on a New 3DS, but that C Stick would be awful to play with.

Man good ranking! I recommend you to play fire emblem echoes and ever oasis if you like zelda x crossing and little bit of pikmin formula, you wouldn’t regret it! Huge hug from chile 🇨🇱
The 3DS library is so stacked that you could do one Top 10 that was just eShop exclusives, and another Top 10 for physicals. There are some fantastic remakes as well like the 2 other Zeldas, Samus Returns, Pokémon OR/AS, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, DKCR 3D, Dragon Quest 8 etc., and compilations like WarioWare Gold, Rhythm Heaven Megamix and Ultimate NES Remix, but wanted this list to be all originals. 1. Kirby: Planet Robobot 7. Ever Oasis 8. Fantasy Life 9. Super Mario 3D Land 10. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate And for my eShop exclusives… 1. Pullblox 2. Bye-Bye Box Boy! 3. Liberation Maiden 4. Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale 5. HarmoKnight 6. Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move 7. Weapon Shop de Omasse 8. Mutant Mudds 9. Pocket Card Jockey 10. The Denpa Men: They Came by Wave
Why not a completely new game designed for the new platforms instead of a remaster? (Actually while it's convenient to say "why not both", the new game will probably be less jank)
Resident Evil Revelations started life as a 3DS exclusive, but was so good that it has now been ported to every system from the previous and current console generations, plus PC. Definitely deserves to be in the top 10.
Forget Mario being bland and soulless during the 3ds era and beginning of pokemons downfall, by the end, they’re still some of the best games on the console
I downloaded soooo many games to my 2DS before the eShop closed last year and looking forward to slowly playing them over the next ten (!) years. Slower process because I did the same on the WiiU, and there’s always the Switch vying for my attention too.
Great list. I think I have all those except for Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter 4. Couple of favs for me are Theatrythm Final Fantasy Project X Zone 2 Hyrule Warriors Legends. How they managed to get that onto the 3DS is amazing. Plus they somehow managed to cram Xenoblade Chronicles onto the 3DS as well
I'm coming at this several months late, but in no particular order my 10 favorite 3DS games are probably: -Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Hits the perfect sweet spot for me between "classic" AC and New Horizons.) -Fire Emblem Awakening (I'd played and liked FE before, but this was the entry that truly got me hooked on the series.) -The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Instantly became, and remains, a top 4-5 Zelda for me.) -Shovel Knight (It's been released on everything at this point, but I played it first, and most, on the 3DS. Looks really nice in 3D too.) -Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (One of my absolute favorite entries in my favorite non-Nintendo series.) -Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (A great follow-up to one of the very best games on DS. A classic.) -Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call (The first Theatrhyhm was fun, but Curtain Call felt like the game the first one should've been. A really fun rhythm game just stuffed with great Final Fantasy/Square Enix music.) -Picross 3D: Round 2 (As a fiend for both 2D and 3D Picross, this is just about a perfect puzzle game.) -Kirby Planet Robobot (I mostly think of the Return to Dream Land-style Kirbys as pretty good, but not exceptional - not so here, Planet Robobot is a great game and probably my favorite Kirby.) -Rhythm Heaven Megamix (A great mix of new and old RH levels, filled with charm, humor and a lot of damn catchy music.) I decided to exclude ports/remasters of games from earlier platforms mostly for the sake of personal clarity, and because I largely think of them as belonging to their original consoles first. But needless to say, I think the 3DS versions of Ocarina of Time, Radiant Historia* and Dragon Quest VIII are probably the closest things we have to definitive versions of those games thus far (I actually like the Dragon Quest VII remake a lot too, though it's different enough that I wouldn't say it makes the original PS1 game not worth checking out if you're a DQ fan). And while Majora's Mask 3D is still a great game and improves things in several key areas, the original N64 release is still my preferred version (and my favorite game ever made). *For my money, one of the greatest RPGs ever made and also seemingly cursed to release, and be largely ignored, during the dying days of Nintendo handhelds.
Love hearin' from you, Brandon! Keep up the great effort. Save for Monster Hunter, our lists aren't dissimilar. Being careful not to repeat any, I'd also like to express appreciation for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. It launched six months after Shulk had debuted in Super Smash Bros. and served as my introduction to the series, which now is one of my all-time favorites. I had wanted it anyway, but this port was a leading reason I upgraded to the special edition New Nintendo 3DS XL based on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D. Although I have more play time on the original Wii U title, I'm impressed by Hyrule Warriors Legends offering a similar experience to that in handheld form, and with additional content. Along the lines of Fire Emblem, there's FE Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. While it doesn't reach the same narrative peaks as FE Awakening, to my memory, still I recall enjoying my time with it. Most of all, I'm deeply in love with its art style, namely that of the characters. I would be delighted if artwork in that style were to return one day to this series. (My experience with Fire Emblem was identical to yours, by the way-I was sold by the demo for Awakening.) Finally, a quick shout for Box Boy. Simple, yet novel. Overall, I would agree with your number one placement of Kid Icarus: Uprising. Sakurai-san, you must know the masses yearn to eat ice cream off the floor. Please.
I know I'm not making any original comments when I say that kid Icarus uprising was my favorite 3DS game: the writing, the humor, and the gameplay or all enticing from the jump. I hope one day we get a port/ remix / sequel to this wonderful game🤩
3DS is so underrated. I wish I had one when it was actually current. I got one a year or two ago and jailbroke it-Fire Emblem, Luigis Mansion, and Metroid all at my fingertips is legendary
Both mainline Kirby games on 3DS were fantastic. Before the new year began, I decided to 100% Kirby Planet Robobot and Kirby & the Forgotten Land back to back to see if Planet Robobot was truly still my favorite Kirby game, and yep, it still is. Such a remarkably tight experience through and through (aside from sticker grinding for 100% I guess), whether you're talking about the main story or the Meta Knightmare Returns speedrun mode. People shouldn't sleep on Triple Deluxe either, since it's a charming, high quality game in its own right and has one of my favorite selections of bosses in the series.
Level 5 definitely deserves a spot on the list which I guess they pseudo get with dragon quest 8 though I don't think they had any involvement with porting
My 3ds top 10 - Smash Bros 4 3ds - Kid Icarus UpRising - StarFox 64 3d - zelda link between worlds - Pokemon Y - mario Kart 7 - Mario 3d Land - super mario maker 3d - street fight 4 3d edition - zelda ocoriana of time 3d - zelda Majoras mask 3d
So good to see some Kid Icarus Uprising love! I remember how controversial that control scheme was, but with some tweaks in settings I thought it worked really well. One of my all time favorites!
I'm proud to say I own 8 of these 10, and only 'cuz when I finally could buy a 3DS, Kid Icarus was already quite hard to get, and DQ8... Is SO EXPENSIVE! And I think has DLC that ofc is now unavailable... OTL ... oh well...
I 100% agree with the 3DS being one of the best consoles Nintendo has to offer. Fact, I still got mine and actually intend to buy more games on sometimes in the future. But, with the absolutely massive catalogue of great games on the 3DS, you could easily make a top 20 or even 30 list of your favorites!
Anything with Dragon Quest, Metroid & Kirby that's good on the list is good vibes on me. Though I an disappointed he didn't put Triple Deluxe & Planet Robobot on the list.
Both of the mainline Kirby games are incredible and I love almost all the eShop games too. While Team Kirby Clash Deluxe missed the mark a bit, especially since Super Clash exists now making its predecessor obsolete now imo, the others are absolutely worth checking out if you have the means to. Even Kirby Fighters Deluxe still carves out a niche for itself compared to its sequel thanks to having a traditional Classic Mode that is actually fun to play through on the higher difficulties unlike Fighters 2's Single-Handed Mode. Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe is pretty fun too, but none of them beat Blowout Blast for me. Blowout Blast is an absolutely incredible retelling of Kirby's Dream Land with an addicting score attack gameplay loop and some really fun and interesting level design and bosses. And that's just the small eShop titles. I can't really speak on Extra Epic Yarn or Battle Royale as I haven't really played them myself, but even those games have their fans. And then you had the mainline titles released for this console. Both Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot are widely considered some of the best games in the entire series, both really refining the formula Return to Dream Land brought to the table with their own unique gimmicks, fun speedrun modes, new and reimagined bosses, and fantastic new abilities, especially with Triple Deluxe. However, while TD's story is definitely better told and the Hypernova is neat, Robobot is absolutely my favorite Kirby game on the 3DS with its incredible graphics for a 3DS game, some of if not the best level design in the series, and the single best gimmick in the entire series with the Robobot Armor. In fact, it is not only my favorite Kirby game, but also my favorite 3DS game, as much as I love Samus Returns, Mario 3D Land, and A Link Between Worlds
It’s still wild to me that, after how successful it was in reviving the series, Kid Icarus Uprising didn’t lead to a sequel or remake. Truly, some of the most enjoyable voice acting in a video game.
Given that the 3DS was backwards compatible, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (basically the greatest game of all time) needs to be on the list. As many others have said, the SMT: Devil Survivor and Bravely Default/Bravely Second games were phenomenal as well. Sure, everyone agrees that we need more Kid Icarus on the Switch (Switch 2), but surely ports/remakes/sequels to Final Fantasy Tactics and the SMT: Devil Survivor games are just as essential.
Haven't tuned into GVG too much for a while, but seeing your incredibly based takes, I have a ton of respect for you and look forward to hearing you talk about more games Brandon!
It's quite a shame the Kid Icarus franchise will likely die alongside the 3ds. One can still hope for an hd remaster of uprising at the very least but the future looks very bleak, glad others were able to enjoy it as much as I did and give it the recognition it deserves.
- I would have replaced Pushmo with DKC Returns (I mean, if you placed DQVIII) - Monster Hunter Stories was surprisingly enjoyable, I have the 2nd part and have yet to play it - 3D Land being short is a plus you know :)) - Kid Ikarus I loved the setting and gameplay but hated the controls so I didn’t finish it. Here hoping they remake it for Switch - Advance Wars was missing on the 3DS :((
Broke: Animal Crossing New Leaf Woke: Tomodachi Life jk, both games are fantastic, but Tomodachi Life was my jam back in the day, such a weird but fun experience. MK7 and Super Mario 3D Land are also underrated games, particularly 3D Land with it's fun levels and unique camera angles that it used in certain levels Edit: just remembered WarioWare Gold, that was such a fantastic greatest hits WarioWare game, and Jimmy T's voice acting is peak
Really glad you didn't include ports/remasters making this a great list emblematic of the 3DS itself. Can't really disagree with anything. Especially your top 3.
I love that silver MH4U new 3DSXL, but I swear every single one out there is peeling. My US one started a few years ago while I was playing through Tri Force Heroes with friends (who I have now convinced to try Federation Force with me). And then I got a JP one and it's also peeling!
Some of my favorites that were not mentioned are Ever Oasis and Monster Hunter Generations. Additionally huge shout outs to Fantasy Life and Tomodachi Life

You should really try some 3DS SMT titles, they're great!
3ds is such a good handheld with so many games to enjoy I do wanna get some of the FE games on it.
That monster hunter 3ds is a major flex. I got a lot of great memories from 4u
My top 10
10. Kid Icarus Uprising
9. Rhythm Heaven Megamix
8. Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot
7. Link Between Worlds
6. The Great Ace Attorney Adventures and Resolve
5. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
4. Rune Factory 4
3. Kingdom Hearts 3D
2. Fire Emblem Awakening
1. Pokémon Sun and Moon
Awesome to see PSMD on your list! Such a hard game though.
This is also a great list! And I often day that Sun/Moon have the best starter designs since the beginning of the series
Wait, where do you get the great ace attorney
Both Monster Hunter 3U and 4U were AMAZING on 3DS. I clocked over 500 hours in to both games ... EACH.
Awakening is far and away my #1. Honestly if I didn't restrict myself to one per series the majority of my top ten would be fire emblem and pokemon lol. But also virtue's last reward and new leaf deffo there
An incredibly solid list. I guess I'd honorable mention:
Virtue's Last Reward
Tales of the Abyss
Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney
Kirby Robobot
Rythym Thief and the Emperor's Treasure
Ocarina/Majora 3D
Shantae Pirates Curse (as the debut system)
Aw yeah! Rhythm Thief mention!
I NEED SEQUEL! I! NEED! SEQUEL!
When is the 4ds
Considering they went from 3DS to 2DS, and the original DS line is presumably the 1DS, they really should make the 0DS and -1DS. XD
The should call the next one DSX. Kinda sounds like DS Sex, which is a bonus
1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
2. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call
3. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
4. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
5. Fire Emblem: Awakening
6. Kirby: Planet Robobot
7. Ever Oasis
8. Fantasy Life
9. Super Mario 3D Land
10. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
And for my eShop exclusives…
1. Pullblox
2. Bye-Bye Box Boy!
3. Liberation Maiden
4. Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale
5. HarmoKnight
6. Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move
7. Weapon Shop de Omasse
8. Mutant Mudds
9. Pocket Card Jockey
10. The Denpa Men: They Came by Wave
My physical copy of Yokai Watch 3 is looking at your eshop exclusive list funny.
@@jeffgreen5429 Fair play. I forgot it did get a limited physical release which is why I got it on eShop because it was cheaper
Denpa Men mention?! Heck yeah! Although it’s just the first one. A shame, the sequels are better (the 2nd one’s hard though).
Love ever oasis! Underrated
Kid Icarus is definitely one of my top three. Sakurai did say it was difficult to port but I do wish they'd do a HD port.
He did later say "hopefully it can be played on another console someday" (paraphrased)
Why not a completely new game designed for the new platforms instead of a remaster? (Actually while it's convenient to say "why not both", the new game will probably be less jank)
I was overjoyed to see MH4U in your list! My favorite game on the console and in the entire MH series so far.
Just got my hands on my first modded 3Ds. Thank you for this video.
Couple of favs for me are Theatrythm Final Fantasy
Project X Zone 2
Hyrule Warriors Legends.
How they managed to get that onto the 3DS is amazing. Plus they somehow managed to cram Xenoblade Chronicles onto the 3DS as well
Fire emblem warriors too
@@therealjaystone2344 oooh ya that as well 😄
I'm coming at this several months late, but in no particular order my 10 favorite 3DS games are probably:
-Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Hits the perfect sweet spot for me between "classic" AC and New Horizons.)
-Fire Emblem Awakening (I'd played and liked FE before, but this was the entry that truly got me hooked on the series.)
-The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Instantly became, and remains, a top 4-5 Zelda for me.)
-Shovel Knight (It's been released on everything at this point, but I played it first, and most, on the 3DS. Looks really nice in 3D too.)
-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (One of my absolute favorite entries in my favorite non-Nintendo series.)
-Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (A great follow-up to one of the very best games on DS. A classic.)
-Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call (The first Theatrhyhm was fun, but Curtain Call felt like the game the first one should've been. A really fun rhythm game just stuffed with great Final Fantasy/Square Enix music.)
-Picross 3D: Round 2 (As a fiend for both 2D and 3D Picross, this is just about a perfect puzzle game.)
-Kirby Planet Robobot (I mostly think of the Return to Dream Land-style Kirbys as pretty good, but not exceptional - not so here, Planet Robobot is a great game and probably my favorite Kirby.)
-Rhythm Heaven Megamix (A great mix of new and old RH levels, filled with charm, humor and a lot of damn catchy music.)
I decided to exclude ports/remasters of games from earlier platforms mostly for the sake of personal clarity, and because I largely think of them as belonging to their original consoles first.
I bought & modded two 3DSs. My son & I play them together often. Such a great console ❤
Ultimate NES Remix is also essential for the 3DS and I hope it comes to switch or the next switch
Please.
I played Link Between Worlds again recently, and was reminded of how good it was
Great list. Kid Icarus indeed #1! Bonus points for the Badge Arcade outro music
I know I'm not making any original comments when I say that kid Icarus uprising was my favorite 3DS game: the writing, the humor, and the gameplay or all enticing from the jump.
I hope one day we get a port/ remix / sequel to this wonderful game🤩
I’ve got to say my favorite 3DS game is SMT IV.
this list 👌 i gotta go charge my 3ds i also started with awakening and animal crossing and they were so amazing
This is a great list though I was hoping to have Tomodachi Life appear somewhere in the list.
People shouldn't sleep on Triple Deluxe either, since it's a charming, high quality game in its own right and has one of my favorite selections of bosses in the series.
i’m still in love with the 3DS. Even after 10 years, I still have my own whatever I go and also, I love to take picture with the 3-D capability
I have a new 3ds xl shopping from Japan. Can't wait to play these games!
y'all gotta play devil survivor overclocked tho
Level 5 definitely deserves a spot on the list which I guess they pseudo get with dragon quest 8 though I don't think they had any involvement with porting
My 3ds top 10
- Smash Bros 4 3ds
- Kid Icarus UpRising
- StarFox 64 3d
- zelda link between worlds
- Pokemon Y
- mario Kart 7
- Mario 3d Land
- super mario maker 3d
- street fight 4 3d edition
- zelda ocoriana of time 3d
- zelda Majoras mask 3d
metroid so underrated it played like dread it was such a gorgeous game also
So good to see some Kid Icarus Uprising love!
Warioware gold is an underrated gem
Fine I'll put down Palworld for 15 mins to watch this
Hi Hurley, thanks for saving us all!
5. Zelda MM 3D
4. Tetris Ultimate
3. Kingdom Hearts DDD
2. Resident Evil Revelations
1. Zelda OOT 3D
Typing this before watching: I hope A Link Between Worlds ranks highly!
The list was pretty unique in my opinion. I don’t agree with every choice, but I enjoyed seeing the entries you put! Great video
Dragon Quest 8 and Samus Returns on the 3DS Good Vibes Gaming list.
Love to see it :)
I had an hard time if I liked Triple Deluxe or Planet Robobot more. They're both fantastic games to me.
It’s still wild to me that, after how successful it was in reviving the series, Kid Icarus Uprising didn’t lead to a sequel or remake. Truly, some of the most enjoyable voice acting in a video game.
I love how jon is omnipresent.
Get in those last games of Light vs Dark people. Kid Icarus Uprising multiplayer was severely underrated and had no right to be as fun as it was.
Ok!
I got that reference near the end......man I miss Reggie AND feel old at the same time
Man that’s a great sweater
Haven't tuned into GVG too much for a while, but seeing your incredibly based takes, I have a ton of respect for you and look forward to hearing you talk about more games Brandon!
It is not unusual for me to fart on my coffee table and then run up the stairs on all fours giggling insanely.
All i hope for is that Uprising takes its rightful throne at the top of the list...
Thank you
All I hope is that it gets a remaster so the rest of the world can appreciate it's beauty 🙏
It's quite a shame the Kid Icarus franchise will likely die alongside the 3ds. One can still hope for an hd remaster of uprising at the very least but the future looks very bleak, glad others were able to enjoy it as much as I did and give it the recognition it deserves.
I never knew abt this franchise just seen the characters from smash. Now I want to give it a try
Ok. My favorites are: Yo-kai Watch 3, Fantasy Life, Kid Icarus Uprising, Sushi Striker (most underrated game in my list) and WarioWare Gold.
Sushi Striker is brilliant
- I would have replaced Pushmo with DKC Returns (I mean, if you placed DQVIII)
- Monster Hunter Stories was surprisingly enjoyable, I have the 2nd part and have yet to play it
- 3D Land being short is a plus you know :))
- Kid Ikarus I loved the setting and gameplay but hated the controls so I didn’t finish it. Here hoping they remake it for Switch
- Advance Wars was missing on the 3DS :((
Broke: Animal Crossing New Leaf
Woke: Tomodachi Life
jk, both games are fantastic, but Tomodachi Life was my jam back in the day, such a weird but fun experience. MK7 and Super Mario 3D Land are also underrated games, particularly 3D Land with it's fun levels and unique camera angles that it used in certain levels
Edit: just remembered WarioWare Gold, that was such a fantastic greatest hits WarioWare game, and Jimmy T's voice acting is peak
I keep hearing that Tomodachi Life is underrated. Maybe I should seek out a copy?
Really glad you didn't include ports/remasters making this a great list emblematic of the 3DS itself. Can't really disagree with anything. Especially your top 3.
So many great games on the 3DS! I too have been playing it quite a bit lately.
I love that silver MH4U new 3DSXL, but I swear every single one out there is peeling. My US one started a few years ago while I was playing through Tri Force Heroes with friends (who I have now convinced to try Federation Force with me). And then I got a JP one and it's also peeling!
Oh wow I can’t wait to buy these!
Making Kid Icarus #1 is unfathomly based
Just the GVG jingle at the start makes me happy and click the like button
Some of my favorites that were not mentioned are Ever Oasis and Monster Hunter Generations. Additionally huge shout outs to Fantasy Life and Tomodachi Life
MHG Ultimate is on Switch though, it's not exclusively on the 3DS

Tales of the Abyss
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Great list. I'm definitely a bit of a 3DS connoisseur. It's my all time favourite handheld system. And one of the only systems I ever bought on launch day. It was a fun ride ride from 2011 - 2019. With over 386 3DS games purchased in physical form. My top 10 is definitely a lot different lol. Still buying games for it this day. I Went as far as importing an American and Japanese 3ds XL just to buy the physical exclusives to those regions that never came out over here physically.
My top 10 would most likely be.
1- Mario and Luigi Dream team bros
2- Project X Zone 2
3- Metroid Samus returns
4- Kid Icarus Uprising
5- Legend of Zelda a link between worlds
6- Super mario 3D land
7- Etrien Oddysey untold - the millennium girl
8- Pokémon X / Y
9- Persona Q2 new cinema labyrinth
10- Ghost recon shadow wars
A Certified Brandon Miracle Top Ten Video? We're truly in your debt 🙇🙇🙇
I bought an N3DSXL a week ago in good condition.... For €200, cheap in the region.
Currently playing awakening….couple games on the gotta play list but a good list so far
Here are my top 10 favorite 3DS games in order.
10. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
9. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minion
8. Star Fox 64 3DS
7. Super Smash Bros. 4
6. Metroid: Samus Returns
5. Super Mario 3D Land
4. Zelda: Link Between Worlds
3. Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
2. Dragon Quest 8 Remake
1. Tied between Kirby: Triple Deluxe & Planet Robobot
Man I miss my MH4 new 3DS. Excellent video Brandon!
I skipped the DS/3DS generation entirely but just got a 3DS and man I missed out on a great catalog.
Almost an amazing list Brandon! But without including the best Kirby game of all time (Planet Robobot), sadly I have to give your list a 0/10.
I'd also include Smash 4, Zelda OOT/MM 3D, Kirby Triple Deluxe. Xenoblade Chronicles is an honorable mention but best skipped as XC1 DE is a much better experience on Switch.
My god you have the worst taste my dude.
Ok i'm only going to say it once
