    Several points :
    - Himeko best standard 1000%
    - Powercreep is there, but it's not crazy strong. I'm 100% convinced that in HSR you CAN pull whatever DPS you like and succeed in the game BUT with one condition that a lot of people are missing: you THEN HAVE to build a team around them: meaning pulling their supportS (with an S, meaning if a better support realease even if it's a sidegrade of a character you already have: get them to get more team options. It does not mean getting just one fixed team that you'll use for everything and calling it a day without adapting it for the content). Example: Some of the "most used teams" that shows up on those "stats" for some of the DPS are awfull for Appocalyptic shadow specificaly. Many people just slap their MoC team in AS without thinking, and expect it to perform well -> Most of the time thats NOT the best team for each DPS in AS when it's a mode where matching elements and breaking is so important : it's a very bad metric to judge the value of characters and it's very missleading.
    - The only "must pull" in this game are two harmony 5 stars of you choice, but one of them must be Ruan Mei ;) (Silver Wolf?? I agree with you, she's not a must pull at all. She's good, but not in every team)
    - the "problem" that good new players like you are facing to get max rewards are not "you did not choose the correct characters", it's just trailblaze power time that you are missing to get better traces/relics for your teams (and luck maybe: all those missed 50/50 are painfull T_T)
    - Maybe I'm biased for all the points above, but I'm a day 1 player that do not have neither Acheron nor Firefly and I'm still clearing with max rewards every piece of content without any struggle. I'm no whale (five battlepass, the daily card since day1 and one pack of each for the bonus before the anniversary reset), but I did some vertical investment on the rerun of my favs units (and their supports). I think the point he makes about the light cone and strong eidolon is a sensible one for older players (not a new player like you tho, you need options at the begining).
    Considering your questions about spending on your account for the channel : I'm not in favour of it if the goal in the end is to be like every CC under the sun: aka having all characters, all available archetype, all lightcones (I'll lose interest). What I love about your channel, aside from your very good perspective and analyse on the game, is to watch your "new player" progression with the limit it imposes. Thus, if the goal is spending a bit to catch up and speeding your progressions a bit for the characters and team you like and have already chosen, then by all mean not a problem for me.
    edit: oh, and for ZZZ content? I do not mind it being on the same channel, I'll be interested as well even if I'm not sure I'll play the game myself

    One thing about the spending, besides potentially making the modes easy, is that the satisfaction of getting a character and seeing them perform really drops. I think being a low spender with the battle pass and daily jade things is fine and I don't really lose excitement because of those. But I lost the 50/50 for Aventurine a few banners ago, and I went and spent 50 bucks on jade to be able to pull for him. I basically felt no emotions when I got him. However, I recently lost the 50/50 for Firefly, but I've decided to not spend besides the daily login thing and the battle pass. I was so heartbroken when I didn't get FF. I actually felt something. Now, I'm scraping up every single jade I can manage, I can get to 78 total pulls and try and get there. It's going to feel so much more satisfying (or heartbreaking if I don't manage to get FF), because it's going to feel like I earned it.

    Don't whale out to make guides to cheat content since this is not relatable to the average player. I like your low spend hard core / new player approach. There are a ton of other content creators that whale out like ooh look 36 stars with my 3 million damage E6S5 Acheron, I only spent $2,000 to win a game. JUST DON'T.

    • @RygarFang1599

      I see your point, but misleading, can be a strong take, especially, when most show their build. Maybe they're showing you what vertical investment looks like or min/max potential. I don't think anyone knows the average player. If you're asking for relatability, then everyone should clear content, according to ZMM's no pull account or people who do 4 star only runs. If they can do it, why can't the average player. The average players should have these 4 stars at the rate they're chasing 5 stars.

    I like what one of the comments on Iyo’s video said. Powercreep is not the ceiling of teams (their highest potential), but the floor (the minimum investment/effort to clear).
    While I agree that theoretically any team can clear endgame content, it’ll take more investment/effort to clear compared to newer units like Acheron or Firefly as even Iyo admitted the HP thresholds are getting higher and higher so I think that Powercreep totally is a thing in the game.

    Building pity is when someone does pulls on a banner they don't want the character of. They do this in order to get to that soft pity, 75 pulls. This, however, can lead to all the pity being built being wasted if they do accidentally get the 5 star character they didn't want.
    Soft Pity: The chances of getting a 5 star greatly increases after 75 pulls have occurred.
    Hard Pity: The maximum amount of pulls you can do before getting the 5 star character (90).
    Building pity is just pulling hoping to make it easier to get the 5 star in the next banner (this is just an excuse for a player to get that dopamine rush when someone pulls).

    Most people seem to misunderstand Silver Wolf's value, Boothill/ Firefly add their element to reduce the toughness bar, however they will still be damage resistant to that element, SW adds an element and removes the resistance to that element And reduces defense, that is invaluable, Super Break only scales off of 3 stats, RES pen, Defense reduction/Ignore, and weakness break effeciency.

      Good point, the strongest break damage we can get is from RM+SW combo. Literally one shot otk most boss, but I think SW got downplaying by community is bcs of her energy issue, which happens to player who don't have tutorial lc. Whilst me with my SW can get ult back in one turn, I put her value as second best support behind RM

      @@Internextion I've meant, that their archetypes are not specific to them alone. For example Blade doesn't have any HP supports still, because those mechanics are exclusive to him. Break is a broad mechanic, since we already have like 3 limited 5* characters to play with and a lot of 4*. Acheron really only needs debuffs, which is the whole Nihility path, it's as broad as it can get.

    Two things about Power creep in my purview: First thing is that if you're concerned about the longevity of your units in power creep what need to look at is the floor, not the ceiling. You need to see the least amount of investment necessary to get full marks, not the biggest damage-per-screeshot that can be attained. Second is that many people in my estimation just refuse to build proper teams. They want to run ANYTHING together and be able to clear all content, that's not how any of this works. This a turn based STRATEGY game, you need a strategy to get clear content, the days of brute forcing content are pretty much over unless you whale(I do not advise doing that.
    Final note is that clearing endgame content full marks unless you whale is going to take you months to get there. You can't "rush" your way to the end, it takes time. I've been playing since 2nd half of 1.6(6 months) and I do spend money on the game (probably an average of 80$ a month discounting battle pass). You have to be patient.
    P.S. You CANNOT build everyone. do NOT try to do that especially if you're F2P or Low spender. You will have a terrible time.

    Here's my take on Sig lightcones and edilons as a player since game launch. Ftp and low spenders SHOULD study the LC options for a champ they really like and want to build a team around and priortize to pull for the lc and edilons that are extremely awesome. But not for many. For instance sig lc for main dps can be a great option if they have a cracked one but not usually necessarily for a harmony character like MC or Ruan Mei. Now Ruan Meis is awesome but is it REALLY worth the jade? Shes cracked anyway with 3 star meshing cogs. Shes cracked at e0. Does she really NEED edilons and LC NO! But if you are going to run Acheron forever or Dan IL etc you probably want their LC. 😅

  • @lukekarts

    Prior to Firefly and Apocalyptic Shadow & Divergent Universe I didn't think it was the case, but as somebody that has Firefly, Acheron, and then most of the other recent top tier DPS (Ratio, DHIL, Jingliu, Kafka, Seele), both Firefly and Acheron are significantly better than the other DPS units. And in the new Divergent Universe (SU), Firefly is in my opinion about twice as strong as Acheron, who alongside the FUA team is comfortably 2nd best in that game mode.
    On of the broader issues has been the expanding HP of enemies, rather than their increasing damage. I think generally speaking, SP management pending - survivability is not too much of an issue but clearing some of the recent MOC has been an absolute slog without Acheron and Firefly - and I do try most of my teams and run multiple times to compare. And for comparison's sake, both my FF and Acheron teams are around 300 points better than any other team in Apocalyptic Shadow.
    There's also some impending power creep - Yunli just flat out replicates Clara but better, for example. Hopefully it slows down a little bit soon.
    I don't think Iyo makes a relevant point at all with his f2p account clearing MoC 12, given he has 2 of the strongest 3 teams for recent MoC's, largely down to new units (Acheron, Aventurine) who massively outperform older units.

    • @isshonsaha8673
      @isshonsaha8673 18 дней назад +1

      His f2p clears does make a point but it's not that powercreep doesn't exist. It's that if you invest smartly, you can clear highest difficulty challenges as f2p. People who spend a lot of money can "fix" their mistakes to make up for their lack of insight

    • @Naruto4995
      @Naruto4995 18 дней назад +1

      @@isshonsaha8673 I believe it's 50/50. Iyo is in the realm of a hardcore gamer with HSR by now. Armed with way more knowledge which yes, admittedly people can look up, but it's the timeframe he decided to do this that matters too. People's accounts hold different stories in what they can gather together at the time, wisely and unwise.
      If we're talking about f2p folks beforehand who had the potential time to learn? I can see it. For those say starting right around Penacony, I believe it can be a different story, both in their newness factor and xyz level of experience they have with this game climate.
      That's just for when people can get their accounts 'online' to properly tackle it. As for the powercreep argument? I don't think it exists as many people say it does, it's more like the 'ease of access' with set ups increased with a more improved character floor. Older characters need to meet higher relic demands, while the newer (Acheron and Firefly) respectively are getting personalized sets tailored to them, which does alleviate some of the burden.

      to be fair these modes are specifically made to cater towards them. they’re not much stronger than other characters in actual performance, hell my ratio team clears as fast as firefly, its just that all the buffs focus on those two atm and they’re getting the most support
      next apoc definitely seems to be harder for both of them. no lightning weak, no ult or break buffs, no annoying adds.

       Agree with this take. I started around the start of penacony, saved for acheron(till e0s1) then pulled aventurine, Robin and currently Ruan mei. As of now I have been able to clear all the endgame modes the game offers and with ease I'd say and all I have been doing is pulling favourites, they just happen to be very strong meta wise too.
      While a person who would have started at the same time as me but wasn't interested in acheron or Robin or ruan mei might not be able to do the same. The average f2p experience varies alot by minute factors which are difficult to generalise. @@Naruto4995

    Definitely real at E0. Not so much as you go up in Eidolons. Newer characters tend to have a higher floor and lower ceiling. They also tend to have some very specific drawback to keep them "balanced" (usually their team requirements like how FF requires HMC/RM to really do her thing). That's what puts the "big whale" teams so far ahead like Acheron, FuA, DoT, or hypercarry when eidolons get involved.

  • @RygarFang1599
    @RygarFang1599 17 дней назад +1

    The term power creep, is misleading. The reason is, no one has place a standard of measurement for hsr. Most, seem like a ease of use argument or popularity. Some people use cost efficiency argument, this is why some believe Seele is better than Firefly. The other issue is the game requires a team, so it makes it more complex. Would Firefly be as effective with Archeon's favorite team comp or vise versa? So this debate will go on, until someone makes a clear and accept standard.

    Im currently 6 min in, and well. I cant talk for a lot of DPSes as far, as i have only DoT team (yep with RM) and Jingliu-Hyper. And to be fair, i kinda surprised that Jingliu on AVG have below 3.3k from a prydwen stats / ur statistic. Idk if your from prydwen or not tho.
    But my e0s1 Jingliu cleared AS for 3.4k with a: e1s1 Bronya, e4s3Resolution Pela and e4s5 QPQ Gallagher. No super-break, no Ruan Mei, no insane limited 5 star investments. So current iteration of AS for sure doable with Jingliu over 3.3k w/o crazy investments. And probably doable with DHIL/IPC team on 2nd side with more generous investments and good team build i'd assume.

    1:15:11 I mean he still 3 got 3 stars using a honestly bad team + a weaker version of the Meta one.
    And you seem to ignore the Fact that Both Teams Don’t need to hit 3300 just that one side needs to cover it.
    So for example it’s possible even if you get 1100 AV on one side but if you can get 1500+ AV on the other you still end up with 6600 aka 3 stars.

    I don't disagree with your take on power creep. I think the discussion is a bit muddled by people saying that power creep is what is causing them to not be able to clear content when, for HSR at least, its that newer character have better ways of working with their archetypal teams or they really are good at a particular way of doing damage. I think this is why Seele for all the hate she gets is still relevant; because her kit is well constructed, she has access to a relic set that makes her even better(Quantum set), and she has a good selection of support characters to make her shine even more.
    As for me I am a day 1 player: For the limited characters, I have lost every single 50/50 and for all the characters I do have I also have their lightcones, though two were gotten during a rerun (Silverwolf and Fu Xuan). For all the characters I didn't get the only one I really regret at this time is Sparkle because I was building Kafka DoT team and went for Black Swan and also go for Acheron. I noticed the archetype setups Hoyo was wanting early and got very picky about who I pulled and I have been able to get many of the characters I wanted. This of course means I have skipped a far share of characters but that is what happens when you go free to play. Ultimately you need to be smart about who you pull and why you pull.

    I am F2P player and I play from day 1. As a F2P I have to consider very carefully what I pull for. I usually I have enough jades/tickets to pull one character in every patch, so I have to consider several things to deceide is it worth to pull a character or not for my account. Back when Loucha came he was a big buff as sustain for my account because I needed a good healer, so I skipped Silverwolf for Loucha. I skipped Seele and pulled Jing Yuan. He carried me very long time, but as Kafka and Acheron also introduced - I have both - they are better to use agaisnt Lightning weak enemies nowadays. Most of the time I feel LL just too slow and in the end game MoC or now in Apocalyptic Shadow speed is key. This game is speed based gatcha game, so you force to abuse this everywhere as possible. Sparkle was a good boost for Jing Yuan, but I could not pull for her LC, because of I am F2P, so yeah I enjoy being F2P it is a challange. Of course variety of other characters can be used to clear end game content just need to invest more on gear to complete that. There are tons of videos about clearing end game content with specific or commonly used characters. They are good guides to find the issue in my characters and where I need to invest more. Nub play the game as you want to play the game. IMO if you follow F2P or low spender player that is more interesting to crack certain end game content for showcase and perhaps others can learn from that. I definitally will learn :).

It would make them useless in all that content. Personally, I'm not against that philosophy but it would also suck a lot of fun out of using those characters for a lot of players who love using them, so I understand why they went down that route.

    Genshin’s power creep has a way gentler curve for several reasons. New support units work very well with old characters.
    Many new DPS units are incredibly strong within a niche they have.
    There are several core characters from the beginning that will always improve many different teams very well on a mechanical level. So some synergies just never go out of fashion unless the content is made to stop those specific characters.

    A few thoughts:
    In HSR the word "Hypercarry" has a specific meaning, specifically having to do with Robin/Sparkle/Tingyun/Bronya/Ruan Mei increasing the atk/crit/dmg/etc of a single strong unit and them carrying the team by doing a vast majority of the damage.
    Because of this arbitrary definition, the new Superbreak team is different from Hypercarry because in those teams Harmony MC, Ruan Mei, and even Gallagher all do significant damage to the enemy on top of the damage someone like Firefly/Boothill/Sushang/Xueyi/Himeko will do.
    When I listened through Iyo's vid I also thought his definition of power CREEP was too narrow - the game has power CREEP, but old units are still viable.
    Silver Wolf did a rerun in like Oct/Nov last year, so you missed her by like 2 months when you started your account. I'm not sure on exact dates because it was close to when I started, too.

    While I think there has been some powercreep, I don't think it's nearly as bad as people think.
    The patterns seems to be this: a new character comes out that sets a new high bar for damage and/or team damage. And then they release new characters that buff other team types, bringing them up to or exceeding the previous record. Rinse and repeat.
    So for example, Acheron set a new high bar. Then Firefly came out and arguably set a higher bar. But now Jiaoqiu is coming out to buff the Acheron team.
    I agree with your about Jing Yuan, but he's gotten a ton of buffs, most notably Sparkle. But if they add a new support that's akin to a 5-star Tingyun, it could make him competitive again.
    Regarding LCs, I don't think he's necessarily talking about needing signature LCs. But you're probably not going to get good enough 4-star LCs just from pulling the standard banner, either.
    Also, while they obviously want to incentivize players to pull for new characters, they are releasing good F2P options. The new March can absolutely function as a budget Ruan Mei, for example.

    I really believe eidolons help in balancing powercreep.
    For ex :- i have jingliu at E0S1. My FF powercreeps her, its visible . If i want to keep her relevant i should probably pull her eidolons but this should be applicable if and only if i like her toooo much and prefer her over new dps. Which isn't the case with most players bcz they just want new toys.
    Here comes :- horizontal vs vertical investment.
    I really believe there should be other way to get eidolons for older units rather than getting them like u r pulling a completely new character fighting 50/50.
    This can help players but is bad for company since they will get less revenue on the first run bcz most people will think that they will pull eidolons when its easier to get.
    My take is :- powercreep is real and it should be otherwise game will get boring if u keep smashing everything with blade(i have him too 🤭)
    powercreep was there (just look how jingliu outperformed blade), but it just started to look more and more with newer units bcz now not only blade is being Powercrept by jingliu but both acheron and FF which makes him less viable.

    Calling Silver Wolf a must pull nowadays is a wild Iyo take. It's becoming standard for dps to be able to implant their own weakness or have a way to ignore it. And that's the main reason why you run Silver Wolf. The more dps that can do it on their own, the less value Silver Wolf has. It's only a matter of time before there's a new Quantum dps that can do it and Silver Wolf will have no place remaining in the meta. Except for running archaic Seele teams.

  • @Kamishi845
    @Kamishi845 18 дней назад +1

    tl;dr Iyo redefined the definition of power creep to suit his argument. He makes some good points but the fact that enemies have more HP now clearly indicates power creep, because old units cannot keep up compared to newer units. I think that's also quite proven by some experimental F2P non-pull or low pull accounts that try to clear as much of the game as possible without pulling, where the introduction of MoC12 completely changed the landscape because while it was difficult but doable to previously clear MoC10 with only free 4*, the power creep even with insane artifacts made it impossible because older units simply do not deal enough damage or sustain good enough to clear said content.

    • @Internextion
      @Internextion 18 дней назад +1

      i feel like you’re the one not understanding what powercreep is. 4 star only runs no longer work because content is harder, but none of this matters if older 5 stars can still clear. and guess what? they can. obviously new content caters towards new characters, but the gap between new characters and old characters, especially once content stops catering towards them, is really really small. theres so many examples on youtube of old units getting high scores, its very much possible. people say the real powercreep is in the amount of investment needed, but thats also not true. new characters being catered towards is what makes them need less investment, once thats gone they need just as much as everyone else. acheron is a good example, she needs as much if not more investment than most dps. needing lc is already more than most. not to mention needing a 5* nihility that most accounts dont have, as well as things like aventurine or trends lc.

    • @Kamishi845
      @Kamishi845 17 дней назад

      @@Internextion No, you're definitely making a disingenuous argument here. Power creep simply means that something old which previously worked does not work as well because something new does it better than the old stuff did. In most gacha games, the easiest way to introduce power creep mechanics is to simply make content harder e.g. more enemy HP, more enemy damage or other mechanics newer units are better at dealing with than older ones. A great example is Acheron's innate res pen or Boothill having weakness implant on demand, because these things let them bypass certain game mechanics other units in a similar role as them could not.
      That does not mean that old things cannot work when the stars align, but the effort to make it *consistently* work compared to the new stuff is just so much more difficult because the content is balanced around the new stuff, not the old stuff. Hence power creep.
