After my parents died I lived in Santa Maria until I turned 18. But my parents died when I was 10. Pismo Beach became my refuge and solitude. I absolutely love that you have a piece of the pier. Your creativity is 🤯and so beautiful 😁I live in Cambria,just up the coast from Pismo. When the were redoing the pier I drove down hoping to get a piece of the old one to add to my collection of pieces from the Cayucos and San Simeon pier repairs and rebuilds. I scored some amazing pieces😁I also have lifelong memories of all three of the piers . Most of those moments were from long before we ever moved to the coast,17years ago. I lived for 40 years in the same house out in the countryside 25 miles south of Fresno. I grew up running up and down those piers, then bringing my children to them and I just got home 2 hours ago from a walk on the San Simeon pier with my 2 grandsons. I love 💕 the pier wood pumpkin. I have made several projects with my pieces and now I can’t wait to some pumpkins with hang tags that say WHITE SPARROW LIVING and LUKE 12:6 thanks for the inspiration
I'm so glad that you painted the pumpkin sign. I was going into heart failure seeing all of the pink. It looks so pretty now. And I absolutely love the last pumpkin. I don't like square pumpkins but this one is beautiful.

Funny story… my dad got pulled over on Grand Ave when we were camping on the dunes one time and he had to use my friend’s car to go to the store. She had a super custom stereo and he couldn’t figure out how to turn it down so was pulled over for the loud music! The officer was laughing because he understood the situation and let him go without a ticket but ever since then we would always say, “Simon was boomin’!” because we all thought my dad resembled Gerald McRaney from the 80’s sitcom, Simon & Simon! Wendy I love the wooden pumpkin. I grew up in the Pismo Pier. My Dad was a police officer in Grover City and then in Arroyo Grande. Our family spent a lot of time on the sch there. Brought back some money worries for me too.
Aww. So many viewers have memories of Pismo!! This really is a small world!! Funny story… my dad got pulled over on Grand Ave when we were camping on the dunes one time and he had to use my friend’s car to go to the store. She had a super custom stereo and he couldn’t figure out how to turn it down so was pulled over for the loud music! The officer was laughing because he understood the situation and let him go without a ticket but ever since then we would always say, “Simon was boomin’!” because we all thought my dad resembled Gerald McRaney from the 80’s sitcom, Simon & Simon! Oh my goodness! I hadn’t thought about that in years!! Thanks for reminding me, Joyce!! Xoxo ❤️❤️❤️

There are lots of funny and great stories from back in the day. I love hearing them. I can see why you never let your Dad forget it. I would be teasing my Dad about it too. Fun, fun memories. Thank you for sharing. It is a small world. So much of my youth and beyond was spent on the beach. From cook outs, surfing, fishing, grunion hunting, clamming etc. I love looking back on the carefree times. I really miss all the fresh seafood. Abalone, crabs, lopish, sea bass, etc. I live in Minnesota now and fresh fish is a rare commodity. By the way, your Dad resembling Gerald tells me he was a good looking man. I had such a crush on him. Haha

I believe Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck also enjoyed Pismo Beach! I held my breath hoping you wouldn't paint that gorgeous wood and was so happy when you didn't. I did wince a bit at the hot glue, but it will at least pick off later. Everything looked great!
