    Just a tip but the feet really need to overlap the sides of the cabinet to support the downwards pressure 👍🏻

    • @HomeRenoVisionDIY
      @HomeRenoVisionDIY  6 лет назад +6

      I am not sure why they are built that way either. All I know is that they managed to support the weight of the concrete counters we formed on top. My guess is since they are pre built they must have a glue as well as the hardware. All I know is they wouldn't sell a product that couldn't carry stone without opening themselves up to massive lawsuits so they must have tested this for performance and designed it to last. It made me a little nervous too. But Lowe's sells a decent product and I decided to trust them. fingers crossed. For the price there is not a better option out there.

    • @bscott77
      @bscott77 6 лет назад

      Home RenoVision DIY the feet are actually designed to overlap the edges which is why they have a longer side and are not round. Just twist them 90 degrees from where you had them then screw them in and voila 🙂

      Hey B Scooter, don't get confused with Ikea cabinets which cover the gable. These feet will not install over the gable end.

    • @mr.wizeguy8995
      @mr.wizeguy8995 6 лет назад +1

      No need to overlap for sides. We have used those type of feet since 1990s and those can bare load when they are near side if your cabin is built with dovels.

      @@HomeRenoVisionDIY The plastic Feet on the part you attach to the cabinet bottom are oblong, you pointed it straight back, you where supposed to point it so that oblong section supports the side walls of the cabinet via the "gussets", it's not a lot of support but it's more then nothing and it helps transfer the load to the feet

    Even faster way to install these cabinets and save more money is to attach straight piece of lumber to wall same height were is cabinet underside/bottom and only use plastic legs on front side. Then lift cabinet on top of that lumber and then adjust front legs to match floor screw them each other and after that screw them to wall studs.

    • @HomeRenoVisionDIY

    hey buddy, quick question, Im having my small kitchen renovated and all the guys who came over to measure and sell cabinets they keep telling me to install cabinets above the stove to use the empty space wall. Since there are no windows in my kitchen I was told that no need to install a hood fan. There is a small 12 x12 vent on top of the wall at the corner of the kitchen closed to the ceiling. My apartment building was built in 1969. Please I would love to hear your advise, do u think it would be safer not to install wall cabinet at all above the stove? very much appreciated your reply. Thanks again

  • @tilerman
    @tilerman 5 лет назад

    Want to know a major bugbear of mine? Im a tiler and something that really gets my goat with some kitchen fitters is when they dont level the base cabinets properly when the kitchen has a free standing cooker. Was booked in to tile a kitchen only recently and the client chose bevelled metro tiles. When i put a level across the gap where the freee standing cooker will go, the base cabinets were out by 10mm. Dont sound much but if i had to tile that kitchen i would have had to start tiling at the 'low' end and when i tile across the gap, and in order to keep the tiling level, i would have had to cut the bevel off the metro tile! She would have sued me i think! Kitchen fitter has to come back and remove worktops, sink, plumbing, etc and lower the cabinets on one half of the kitchen and then refit. Ouch. Another fantastic tutorial. Cheers mate from London

    Great tips. I think the quick grip clamps would be really helpful holding the cabinets together. I bought a Bosch laser very similar to this one in the video (2 lines). If I had to do it over again I'd spend the extra money on the one that throws the vertical laser (3 lines) up to the ceiling as well which can replace the use of a plumb bob for doing steel stud tracks and stuff like that.

    Why do some people recommend a 3 inch gap between the wall and the corner cabinet? Is it essential?

    Is there ever a time that you would want to tile first and then put in the floor cabinets? How about under the dishwasher and oven?

    Great video! I am going to install ikea cabinets soon. To save an extra cm at the countertop, im not going to use the metal rail. (Cause i only have 62cm depth) So I assume I have to mount them to the back wall as you did? But I will have to use the square metal parts in the ikea cabinet right,to mount it to the wall.

    You have a great Chanel and this comment is sincerely for you and your viewers pleas don’t take offence. You should install those feet so that the side panel of the cabinet is supported by the longer side of the the leg base. The way you have installed them you have only supported the base piece. Any heavy load can collapse the unit. This system is the norm in the uk and you realize that mistake normally after the granite has been installed. 😔
