With this Nakamura Tome TW20 i have a small robot loading raw material and unloading the finished part.

i can second that haha.. ive spent 6 years editing a couple lines per tool change in my mill. my lathe still requires 3 different programs to make some gcode work from what is posted haha.

@@paulgoodson2655 Sharing post processors is a dangerous game. The first post I used came from a professional supplier and it immediately crashed the machine. I would suggest you send me a LinkedIn connection request. I'll be happy to share what I have, but obviously, there are no guarantees or liability for damage.
I use a combination of the post I customized and a modified version of the fusion360 template that Saunders shows in his video. Note that where the Haas lathes use a command to flip the Z axis when working with the sub spindle, our lathes do not. The template was actually written for more "notmal" lathes and modified by SMW to work with the Haas if I'm not mistaken.

I really enjoy this workflow, I've started to use it with my 3-axis and 4th-axis part setups as well. One thing I do which I didn't see in your file is to create sketches with large text as reminders, like what the last XYZ position update was, or arrows and text as notes. I do like your use of manual pass through to help further customize the template.

How to avoid accidentally storing over your template file:
    1. Memorize this. DO THIS ALWAYS. No exceptions.
    2. Open your template file.
    3. MAKE NO CHANGES!
    4. IMMEDIATELY Save As .
Now start programming your part, saving frequently as you go.
For sanity, try to look at the file name in the title every time before you type Ctrl-S, just to make sure you are still where you think you should be.

    • @ScottMoyse
      @ScottMoyse 3 года назад +1

You can also go back to the history on your template, and promote the version before you accidentally overwrote it to get it back.... the beauty of everything being saved to the cloud. You get automatic versioning.

(crosses centerline all that fun stuff and how to work around fusion not wanting to drill with it.

You need to activate polar mode on your machine. Open your postprocessor file and check to see if it says polar mode anywhere on or off. I got a great post for our LB3000 that allows a manualnc command to turn it on or off in the program list just like a program which is nice. If you have the same machine and want it i can send it over

What post processor are you using on fusion? Looking at the code this puts out, it doesn't unclamp the main spindle before moving the subspindle backwards to the partoff location. However, this is going to be a huge help over hand coding this. Thanks!
Edit: Changed over to a different DS30 post processor, and the code looks great. Thank you again!

The other downside to the manual passthroughs is it's not unit aware... so any imperial units don't convert to metric and vise versa.

I see that you have the G14 spindle swap in a pass through rather than selecting "Secondary spindle" in the "Sub Spindle - Setup" spindle dropdown which puts the G14 at the beginning of the next operation. Any reason for this?

Have you ever used or looked into Mazatrol? I use it at work and it makes this whole process seem way excessive. It would be so fast to do this part on Mazatrol. For basic turning, C/Y axis milling/sub spindle work there's no sence to use any cam software, because Mazatrol is fast to program and edit. Very nice video anyway. I'd like to see longer videos.
