No hope in hell of me buying or looking at anything produced by these imposters. Could never match the harmonies bought by Beeb, Graham and Glen. A Tribute band at best. The real LRB, the finest band and musicians ever to come out of Ozz.
I live near Seattle. Stumbled across a website for the Snoqualmie Casino and saw that the LRB was going to be playing. I was beyond excited. I get the situation. I was a big fan back in the late '70s/early '80s and just really got back into listening to them. It is a shame that these guys can't come to an agreement that would benefit all. The clock is ticking... unfortunately this seems to be typical of a lot of popular bands.
It's not for me to say that guys like Wayne Nelson, who does have an LRB legacy, shouldn't be able to earn an income from music. It annoys me that Housden seems to be quite feral over the LRB "brand", but I guess he is entitled to be paranoid - he would know as well as anyone that people would quickly forget his "version" if it came down to a straight comparison. But as a reality check, the calibre of the original music produced by the current LRB is pretty lame - in my opinion. The spirit of LRB is lost - perhaps some will argue that some of us just won't "move on", but our ears are, in the end, the best judge and for longtime LRB fans, any line up that doesn't include at least 2 of the Gobles, Birtles, Shorrock grouping is not LRB because it just doesn't sound like LRB. The harmonies of the original lineup were their main drawcard and the sound was unique. I see many CD's these days which feature songs "re-recorded by one or more original artists" or something like that. Some people buy these records, but I absolutely refuse - the new versions never sound as good - to me - as the originals. For me, this encapsulates the new vs old LRB argument.
He could earn the same living the others do from the back catalog at his rate like they do at theirs. The others don't have that right before him? Hogwash, he joined up after others came and went as well. It was the beginning of the very end once Nelson joined the band. The music suffered the most at the end of the day for proof of that, rather than how they agree or disagree. Then you add the decline of the industry and it's a tribute band, not to mention their agent is a total crook and he knows it.
Couldn't agree more. This band floating around as LRB is the biggest sham of them all. Many bands running around with one or two originals but this is pathetic.

I wouldn’t even call them a cover band because at least cover bands tend to pay homage to the band whose songs they’re covering. The current group of guys who are touring now as The Little River Band play the hits but they’ve rearranged the vocals, the arrangements, the melodies so much so that most of the songs are unrecognizable!!!

Let's say Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, Mike Singletary, and William Perry got together and wanted to play football together again. Since they all played for the Bears during their very successful 1985 season, they decided to call themselves the Chicago Bears. Further, under the example, you think the current Bears team should now be called something else! I think the fact that members such as Glenn Shorrock, Beeb Birtles, David Briggs, and Graham Goble all QUIT THE BAND at various points, and thereby handed over their rights to the LRB name, is over your head.
Isn't it illegal to use the LITTLE RIVER BAND name if not ONE member is from the original band? I would have never bought tickets had I known this shit!
+donttreadonme2 Unfortunately, the co-founders have lost numerous legal challenges on this. There was a loophole in their 1988 band contract that the co-founders may (or may not) have been aware of, which eventually gave "control" of the name to the last remaining company/band member when Derek Pellicci left the band for the second and final time in 1997 -- to Stephen Housden. Whenever the co-founders try to book a tour, etc. here in the U.S., Housden has his legal team send "cease & desist" correspondence to them. It's a terrible shame!!

Of course the money they are making off of someone elses talent(s) and hard work is probably pretty good. However, KEY WORDS HERE AREW: "SOMEONE ELSES TALENT AND HARD WORK." Is it really worth it? They stopped being the Little River Band long ago. When I saw them in the US back in the early 80's they had already replaced Glenn Shorrock with some blonde headed dude. The songs didn't sound the same without the original singer, and then at the end of the concert they played their new hit, playing to win, and didn't play it live. They actually lip sinked and instrument sinked the song to the song playing through the amplifiers. Being a musician I could tell they were doing this, because near the end of the song it started slowing fading out like the studio version and the band freaked out and didn't know what to do. Apparently they couldn't play that new hit live and reproduce it like the studio version so they faked it.
