Got it since December. Amazing amp, amazing sound, versatile, similar to boutiques, only 1.3kg. It is my new rig for live, home, but also for studio use. Thank you for making this possible!
@@sav9500 it definitely does, but it differs to the style you play the most. If you play blues more often than metal, you better go for the Mercury. If you are a metal player who sometimes wants to go for the blues, go for the Iridium. I play mostly metal, but still 25% ish blues. The Iridium has a different voicing, tight, but less boomy than the Mercury. The Iridium definitely is a great great great metal amp, but if you engage the vintage or classic sound with boost, lower gain, the blues is as sweet as a cake roll. Otherwise the Mercury has that sweet spot in the lower mids for blues. In the end it's all up to taste.
Welcome 🙏! You will enjoy a real amp with all the qualities of a real tube amp just super compact, lightweight and flexible… Probably it ends up your pedalboard ;-)
First....love my Amp-1 Iridium! Such an awesome solution! Second, on the Vintage sound, it is also really great for classic rock! I know its billed as a "Metal" amp, but I'm finding it to be much more versatile than that "label". Lastly....I CANNOT WAIT for the Amp-X.....this will be the epitome of Amp-1 evolution!
Still trying to sell my tube amps so I can get one of these. If it had a delay built in I’d literally have all I need in the one unit. Just guitar, wireless, amp 1 Iridium, speaker cable and cab. Still, there’s always the fx loop, or just using the reverb and boost instead. The tone however is undeniable and that is why I want one. The way it reacts would certainly fit for my playing. Again, Thomas you are a freaking genius.
Do any of the tone controls shape the EQ in the power amp? To be more specific, if I was to use the unit as a power amp only, is there any tone shaping available? The built in preamps sound fantastic, just wondering if it can be a flexible power amp for any connected preamp.
No tone shaping in the poweramp accessible! AMP1 Iridium Edition’s poweramp is actually voiced for our preamps. If you are looking for an all round poweramp with our Nanotube I would recommend out AMP1 Mercury or silver edition, as they are more neutral and therefore best with other preamps. As I checked that already: sounds just like a great tube poweramp. In case you need EQ, why not simply use an EQ Pedal for that?
*In your professional opinion; the AMP-1 Mercury and Iridium, do they sound better running them direct into an IR, like TWO-Notes CAB or when they are Loaded Down through an Reactive-Load before the I.R.; like what is the actual difference??*
As we have demonstrated in our last AcademyOfTone 201, the best results are archived with a real speaker as a load, followed by a (good) reactive load that is better then the internal compensation of AMP1. Please watch the episode it explains what’s going on so you can understand that topic-which is complex
Hi Thomas!
Can I use this on the clean channel as a platform for some distortion pedals I have? Would they sound good? I haven't come across any videos where someone has tried that..
This Amp1 Iridium and Mercury versions are genius work. I loved the Mercury but also love modern tight metal sounds occasionally too. If I can get the great plexi/JCM800 sounds and some modern sounds in the Iridium, then it sounds like the Iridium would be the version for me. Can I dial in a tweed deluxe gain sound like Neil Young, a cranked Plexi like EVH, a JCM 800 like some early Maiden, and also get some tight modern metal sounds with the Iridium? Can I combine it with my Torpedo CAB M for recording or to FRFR cabinet? I watched you dial in a bunch of sounds on the Mercury to match a couple Friedman amps, a Morgan amp, a Marshall amp, etc - You made it look easy. I think this may be the next amp for me. I was going to look at some Synergy preamps or maybe a Bogner Atma, but I think this Iridium might give me more flexibility in a single amp.
I believe Neil Young Tones are Mercury territory, but the Iridium edition is also very flexible. Cab M works perfectly with both version... In the end you have to decide which you prefer...;-)
BluGuitar - Tone Innovation For Guitarists - after watching several more videos, I think it’s the Nano-Tube power section that mostly gets the differences for the Iridium or Mercury with the Iridium set up for tighter sounds. I think it may be the Mercury I’m more looking for. Cranked Plexi or JCM 800 territory with a boost from one of my Line 6 HX Effects many pedal offerings is where I’m mostly playing now with my Mooer Preamp Live which is the first modeler to give me a taste of dynamics that really made a difference in the expressive way I play. Being able to roll back guitar volume and clean up the sound a bit or lighter picking to clean up then pick harder for a big gain boost is where I’m having the most fun playing and sound-wise, it’s being able to have a large amount of gain and really good note separation and articulation heard is where I enjoy playing the most. I think I’m leaning more towards the Mercury right now. Still about two months before I purchase. Maybe the Amp X will be sooner to being released by then (most exciting product I’ve seen soon to be released as I believe you will achieve 100% or at least 99% what you are stating it will do when finished) In any case, i’ll certainly be watching BluGuitar product line announcements, demos, and the very fun demos where you dial in your Amp 1 to match their amps. Really amazing how well you do that for A/B comparisons. Particularly for those guitar players that really like dynamic amplifiers and become unsure of which was the Amp 1 and which was the original amp compared. You have a great ear for sound 😎
I know it's already super well priced, but is releasing a simplified version on the pipeline? Single channel but with all the modes, no boost nor noise gate, but keeping the fx loop. Or something like that. Something a bit more like the new Orange Terror Stamp.
Not at this point! First we go up in price with the AMPX...;-) get a used one, if you can’t afford a new one! Might help a musician in financial needs...
You can switch off the IR by pressing and holding the Boost button (until it blinks) and then pressing the Channel Switch (while still holding the Boost Button).
It's a D class amplifier. Should be no difference in tone at any volume within reason. I'm using a Yamaha THR100HD 100W digital modeling amp right now and I also own 40W Fender combos. Tubes are nice but they are a pain in the ass.
oooooooooohhhhh ...... sieht aus als wärst Du in diesem Video deiner alten Strat untreu. Aber da Du mit Siggi Braun fremd gehts verzeihe ich dirs 1000 mal. Sieht aus wie "little crow 7-string"

Thank you so much!!! This surely is the future for analog. It's small, it's versatile, it's built like a tank, and it sounds KILLER!!! Great job!
New to the pedal amp world. Been rocking a Friedman IR-D.. and now I need this too

The idea behind this product is just beyond words. A delay in the loop and entire rig is set. 😍 I have to get me one of these. Fantacstic stuff sir.
Thank you so much 😊
Amazing product! My Amp 1 ME is coming to mail next week and I can't wait! BTW, I want to see Amp X video guys!!! :D
Have you seen this one?

Look out for the BluGuitar AmpX. Its basically a larger Iridium with Effects built in.
I bought one and it rules!
Enjoy!!! Greetings from the proud designer…

of course! check Ola englund´s video out, just first 20 seconds...
Why the hell wouldn't it?! It is over 100 Watts of power!
i play it in 1x12 wich celestion g12-65 heritage its very heavy
Absolutely correct! A lot of players do this, for example Ian Crichton from Saga, Uli John Roth, Killing Joke, and many more!

Kann man mit den recording out / Kopfhörer out direkt in den Rekorder oder braucht man einen Cabinet simulator?
Klingt fantstisch! Warum gibt es keinen symmetrischen Stereo Output?
Ganz einfach: dafür ist kein Platz in einem so kleinen Gerät...;-)
My dream Amp One would be a Mercury version with an analog reverb and stereo in & outs.
Watch out for AMP X then! ;)
I still don't know which amp 1 really want to choose mercury edition or iridium edition
Try both, You’ll find out easier when you feel it...
Where do I turn on off the ir?
You can switch off the IR by pressing and holding the Boost button (until it blinks) and then pressing the Channel Switch (while still holding the Boost Button).
How do you connect to PC to record? Can use only instrument cables or need something else? Do you need another recording interface?
You need a soundcard, then a guitar cable from AMP1 to your soundcard will do...
Is this suitable for home usage?
I have a 50W/5W amp, and 50W is just too loud.
Absolutely! Sounds perfect even at bedroom volume... greetings from Thomas, the designer;-)

Can the iridium go straight into a frfr speaker? Or does it have to have a load?
AMP1 doesn’t need a load. I assume you are talking about an active monitor kind of speaker....
@@BluGuitar yes a full range flat response speaker that you use instead of a cab to run modelers or anything with built in cab sims into.

I would take the AmpX even without the power amp, just the direct out.
vintage metal maybe means neoclassical metal sound like yngwie with the plexi
