- McDonnell Douglass DC-10 with KLM livery. This was a cheap "spur of the moment" kit I picked up at a model show. Cool plane but tough fit on some of the parts...pretty typical for vintage Revell kits.

one of my favourite plane...now absolutely classic D C -10. Those DC -10 got their own histories of "Problems" and some "Accidents" as well, I 've taken maybe 3 or 4 of them in my life to fly trought.....Great Job !!!!

mostly, from american airlines one engine ripped off after take off, investigation discovered that complicated procedure of uninstalling and installing engine forced ground technitian to find short cut and they did but damaged engine support/pylon, found on more dc-10 but fortunately did not braek
that only happened once
I can not remember how many of these models I destroyed whilst attempting to assemble them as a kid in the 70s. For me, the most difficult part was applying the decals, very tough to get them straight and lined perfectly before they dried and adhered to the model...As for the instructions...who needed instructions? I was a 9-year-old kid, I knew everything? (turns out I did not). So, I just "winged" it, if you'll pardon the pun. Another $2.00 from my parents down the drain, oh, the memories.
That story seems to perfectly sum up why there’s a glittery gold and black f4 phantom model in my closet😂

i tried making this model but a day after i finished the engine on the tail had its fanblade cut off all 3 hydraulic systems

The normal answer would be : KLM stands for : (in dutch language) Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij (Royal Dutch Airline).

The only thing I dislike in this kit is that the window decals are connected to the livery.
This prevents you from making the default white livery.
Can you teach me how to keep that metal piece on, so i don’t have to keep buying Concorde Models

and the whole damn plane is stuck to the ground

I have a question. Does the kit include the paint and the water-transfer stickers, or do you have to buy that stuff separately? The paint you buy separately I assume, but what about the stickers?
The paint I always buy separately although I think there are some beginner level Revell kits that include paint. If the kit doesnt advertise "paint included" on the front of the box, I would plan on purchasing paint separately. The water transfer stickers (decals) are always included.
Good to know. So if I want to make my own plane airline/livery, I just sell the decals and make some extra money.

Hmmmmm.....may be wrong on this..... but the dc-10 did not have the center main landing gear.....the MD-11 had the center landing gear, to support the extra weight capacity of the 11 over the 10.
Sorry, but you’re wrong. Only the DC-10-10 did not have the centre main gear. The Series 30and 40 did. The Series 10was virtually only U.S “domestic”model. I believe KLM only received 30s so would have had the third main gear set up.
Gotta side with Gordon on this one. Hard to argue with the base kit and decals. plus Google.

Thanks! The airbrush I used in this video is Iwata HP-CS. I also have a badger sotar 20/20. I like them both. I also started out only handpainting but now I've switched to airbrushing most of the kits

It's an older kit so not the best fitting, but I still liked it and with some care it will turn out nicely

Nice video! But there's one thing that I don't understand! Why do u get a transparent model holder that can't be put anywhere on this model?? And Revell never placed any instructions for that holder! Is it even normal to have it in the box? I bought 2 boxes and both have that holder. So does anyone know why it's even included?

at what ratio did you mix the blue and the clear paints?
Unfortunately I can't remember. If I had to guess, its probably 80% blue with 20% clear. It's not a technique that I'm using anymore so I haven't mixed it this way in a while
For added realism you could blow one of the cargo doors out
But ya know u painted cockpit glass..? look 5:09
He must painted. Or do you look of a empty inside area?
There's nothing to see on the interior so the cockpit glass is usually painted and a windshield decal placed over it

I stumbled across this kit at a model show last year, it was fun but I remember a lot of flash on the plastic
well my first model kit i should say
When I madedmy first revell model it was a Boeing 747-8 for Lufthansa and I wanted to get all of the paints that i needed but because my dad is a bit of a cheap sake I just got the blue and grey and they were not the revell paints they were the paints the your Element school art teacher used

I tried to make a 737 but as Aloha airlines the roof poped of so i glued it back and my DC-10 was fine but the rudder was crocket
And my 747 was fine so thats why my 747 was the best

This is just a guess but the stand may be able to attach to the hole that is meant for the center wheel in the mid section of the fuselage. I looked thru the instructions on scalemates and didn't see anything on exactly how to attach it either.

It's tiny and was on a separate clear sprue. Hopefully it didn't fall out of the box

Revell and Zvezda both make 1/144 scale planes. Hasegawa has good 1/200 scale sets

i tried glueing it on but now the damn plane is stuck to the ground. and i had to saw the landing gear off
now it looks like a landless plane
