I served in 2002 as a border Jaeger and a sniper. Best time of my life, even if it didn't feel like it at the time 😅 really hard training but worth it! Even my daughter is going to serve next year as a volunteer
Nice to see someone who seems to find pronouncing Finnish words easier than English words. Speaking as a Finn who has been learning Italian vocabulary by watching Don Matteo. Here's a well-documented Finnish soldier who played a part in the history of special forces. First video is a shorter view into his life and the second one a longer one: "Lauri and the Russian Hit List − The Finn Who Fought Under Three Different Flags" and "Törni - Sotilaan tarina (A Soldier's Story) English Subtitles".
Great reaction video, Mauro; I love your enthusiasm! And your Finnish pronunciation is quite well on point as well -- I think the Italian and the Finnish orthography are quite similar as it comes to the relation between the phonemes and the litteration thereof. I hear that Finnish background is also considered quite beneficial for studying the classic Latin in this particular aspect. Keep up the good job! Warmest cheers from Finland, mate!
Mauro; such a cool guy as always with great reactions. As you meet an adult Finn somewhere you know now that most likely he/she has a military service done ;-)
When I was in the military and got some weekend leave to visit my parents, there has not been a time when mozzarella pizza ("Margerita"), ice cold beer and steaming hot sauna has been a greater pleasure - pure heaven at that time.
I served as a military musician in conscript band early 90's. Of course we had also those basic trainings etc. And a few weeks of airdefence training. But mainly we played music in parades, and so on. Conscript band is one of the special units in Finnish defence forces 🎶
I did 11 months in the 90s. Back then it was rather inefficiently organised, but believe the current set-up is more productive timewise. You do learn good skills such as survival skills, first aid, organisation and leadership. The most important bit is that everybody, regardless of social background, serve and have equal opportunity to progress within the organisation. That supports democracy immensely.
I did 347 days in military 10 years ago. I remember the first 1,5 month was bs, but after that i really enjoyed it. We had a good group with full of good ppl. Even my introvert ass managed to get a couple good friends from there that are still in these days my best friends :)
2006 armored brigade, combat engineer. Best thing about service for all men, youll get them in at 20's, many learns about basic things in life as rythm of the day (no sleeping at 11 anymore), nutrision, serve and do things you would like not to, respectin authtorities and so on....
One of the benefits and personal plans for future life is possibility to get driving license for trucks and bigger vehicles while you serve. If you have any plans to work in transportation area, this is no brainer. If you go to driving school normally, it will cost thousands of euros...
Awesome reaction and video:D My channel would also have videos of the Finnish Defense Forces that I have edited. It would be a great honor if you would watch them and make a video of them.😁👍

That looks so much nicer than when I did my military service about 35 years ago - I almost feel envious 😀
It's gotten much nicer, at least in Santahamina 😂
You have good points about the military service. When I was 18-19 I really didn't know where I was going. So 1 year in the service did a lot for me
