Interesting thing is that the airport scene is almost exactly what happened in Hostomel during the first days of Ukraine war and this video was released before the war started. So the Finnish Defence Forces are pretty on point how the Russian military would operate.
maybe Finland's inspection how Russia commits it's operations trough out the whole soviet era and inspecting how forces have been constructed will give a pretty good point of view how they work and how to counter it best way.
Those tools are pretty much on open channel all the time so it aint that hard to follow their traing close to our borders.. @Aquelll Yeah, Finnish Army is well versed what Russia can throw against us. Its all different now. Russia does not have airborne troops left, and whole Baltic Sea is an NATO lake, from where Russians could not accomplish any kind of landing operation.
"Suomi on sodassa" Finland is at war.. is something you dont ever want to hear, but must be prepared for it... its chilling to hear real news reader read that line.
The Finnish Air Force uses English because it is the international aviation language. The official radio language of Finnish military is also English for Nato compliance but Finnish is still used when only Finnish troops are present. But they still use English call signs like Devil 1 and the phonetic alphabet are in English like alpha, bravo, charlie and so on. They can just change general language to English and everything would be the same.
You will love this: A couple of years ago a Russian fighter plane breached the air space. It was identified by a Finnish fighter in one minute. A reporter asked the defence forces "how can you possibly be there in one minute when your nearest airfield is 20 minutes away?" And here comes the epic response: "Exactly." Ok the reporter wasn't satisfied with that and asked the Minister of Defence the same question and the answer: "Our planes are where they need to be at the right time".😇😅

Now keep in mind this short film was made in 2020, well before we ever even imagined ourselves joining the NATO. NATO became a necessity only after Putin's declarations and demands in December 2021, over drawing new spheres of influence and interest on the European map, leaving us Finns and Swedes at the mercy of Moscow....we weren't neutral, haven't been for over two decades. Military non-alignment was no-longer an option, and when the Russians invaded Ukraine it only affirmed our conviction and resolution to apply in a hastened manner. Our popular demand turned the table on the socialdemocratic lead liberal/left/green government.
@@edonveil9887 ..you do understand that video, and the ones predating it are made to showcase the different branches of our military for the conscripts and reservists. For us to better understand the bigger picture involved. It's a fictional narrative of how an invasion might come about. A backstory for larger exercises and refreshals. Interesting part is that it was very close to how Russians began their invasion of Ukraine. The war and how Russia conducts itself in it is the very form and style of aggression we have anticipated for the past 80 years. Modern aspects included obviously.

You should watch a movie called The unknown soldier from 2017 (so not the old version). It tells about our war with Russia and was really beautifully made. They speak finnish but you can get it with subs as well. They play that movie (and the old one) every independence day (6th dec.) from the tv ❤
those kinds of training is the norm in Finland thats why US trained with Finland even before we were part of NATO becouse actual pretend info is a good way of get prepareness... theres a reason why Finland has one of the greatest armies in EU (mainly artillery and airforce, and in artillery we have twice as much artillerly as the second best [Poland])
and reason why some is in English is because if we has some allies even fast you need to communicate intent fast to them.. watch sinking of estonia.. it is necessary, not just because it sounds cooler but to actually make decisions fast if something is happening if political situation shifts..and everyone knows english..
The aircraft communication is always in English. Always. I repeat - Always! In eve-ry sin-gle coun-try. It's especially important in military aircraft communication. One language - no exceptions - no misunderstandings. Speak English - or die! All commercial airlines, ITA Airways, British Airways, Finnair - every single commercial airway you can think of - always communicate in English. And so does every military pilot. Even when they are using encrypted channels. Only exception might be spontaneus expressions, like "K2-Yellow. Missile Lock. Sidewinder Left....Perkele! Missed. ....Realign".
Keep in mind that the news anchor and other personel are not actors in this, but real people. As in the anchor saying "we are in war" feels way too real when you see him almost daily on the tv news...

Why is it always a white Volkswagen? Well, because the vehicles used for filming purposes were volunteered by one uniformed service or other(s) and there are only so many official colours around. Italy has more than 5.5 million people so maybe Italy has been given special privileges languagewise in NATO but as there are only so many Finns we integrate English into our military parlance from time to time outside international commitments and air traffic.
Reminder: this was done far before the Russian invasion to Ukraine and it proves FDF was extremely well prepared for everything that Russia actually did. Now, we are part of NATO, so I strongly recommend: don't even dream about it.
