This video is shown to every recruit during their first weeks of training, it feels really intense watching it in an auditorium with 70 other conscripts. The reason why it feels so real, is because all of the people that you see on the video, are not actors, but real soldiers, news representers, border guards, police, etc. Everyone is doing their real job. Plus this is the official product of the Finnish Defence Forces, and all of the footage is actually real military training footage.
Important to note that the news reader and news studio are real ones so for a Finnish viewer the moment the newsreader says "Finland is at war" is really eerie, if I am using that world correctly.
I had refreshment training like 1 year ago, since the military upgraded their communications systems and I was trained with the old system. Now I have also been trained for the new system. Took about a week.
No actors. Well the red force, except they were military as well, just not the enemy. But everyone is really what they are "playing". Real conscripts and real sodiers and real officers. And real journalists.
Fun fact every single bridge in finland is designed to be destroyed to slow enemy down. Thats why the brigde in video had those hooks where the AT mine was hung from
This was made by Finnish Defence Forces and YLE, the national broadcasting company. It feels real indeed, because there are no actors. Everyone plays their own part as they would in reality. The news studios were real, the news anchors were real. We saw and heard them everyday (the layout and cast has changed since though). Also all the professional soldiers, conscripts, reservists and police were real. So, imagine the eerie feeling I had watching this the first time.. seeing the news anchor, who I was used to see every day updating me on world affairs, telling me that Finland is at war. I almost checked the time IRL because the president was to give a speech at 1600, lol..
Conscription is a peculiar thing. Think a sauna full of adult Finnish men in a men's section of a swimming pool somewhere in Finland. It's almost impossible to tell who is a construction worker and who is a CEO, who's a sales person and who's a lorry driver etc. But there's one thing you can be pretty confident: the man have spent almost a year carrying an assault riffle on daily basis and have expertise on some branch of warfare.
To my better knowledge there wasn't a single actor in that production. All were either civilian and military professionals and actual conscripts in their national armed service.....
The soldiers, news anchors and all the other people are real. The level of a Finnish conscript corresponds to the level of a US Marine - at least and that is not just my opinion but the opinion of an American commander who reports to America on Finland's defense capabilities for his job. When talking about saunas and soldiers, it is worth considering that a Finnish sauna is very different from other saunas in the world (except Estonia). The same applies to the training of Finnish Defense Forces conscripts.
Most of us Finns are quite laid-back and some of us are stoic, but when it comes to defending our country you'll see another side of us. I just hope that we don't have to do it, but if that's the case we are ready.
remember that was 2 years before the war in Ukraine.. One of the few things people don't know/understand is Finland is prepared for "total war"(the whole society switches in to a war mode). In this year alone two submarine telcom cables cut by.. one just this Sunday by Chinese vessel (which was taken by Danish navy) again.. so there is asymmetrical war going on as we speak.
Considering when this was released, it underlines the fact how awake and reality based our preparations are. Only thing that was f'd up, was that we actually overestimated Russia's cyber capabilities. Otherwise, extremely well done and realistic. That chilling moment when the news broadcaster says "Finland is at war"... oof. Right then right there, fighter in me is ready to do or die.
It's made by the Finnish Defense Forces. They started to use film as part of the training, documentation and communication in 1925. There's this 90th anniversary video about that from 2015. No subtitles, but interesting footage nevertheless: "Kuvaustoiminta Puolustusvoimissa 90 vuotta - Katsaus koulutuselokuvan vuosikymmeniin". They have been internationally awarded for some of their films, E.g. for 'Taistelukenttä 1998', which is also available for viewing. And as it happens, a similar series to that 'Battlefield 2020' is coming soon on the Finnish TV: "Konflikti X Varusteleka".
For us Finn's, this kind of situation would feel very personal. Because those soldiers who would go to defend this country would be our brothers, fathers, sons and friends. We are so small nation and we don't have a professional army. It's just us. So even watching an exercise like this, it feels pretty personal thing. And we are proud our systems and we trust our military, it's our family. And by the way, there is no actors in this video. Only reserve.
Battlefield 2020 is quite emotional.. Especially these days when you know the situation in the world and how, for example, the annexation of Crimea and the war in Ukraine started.. armed persons in green uniforms occupy areas. I get even more chills down my spine when I watch the attack on Hanko on video... I live in Hanko and I have also worked in the free port area that can be seen in the video. A good simulation video of the attack and its countermeasures.
This is shown in the recruitment info if I remember correctly. There are multiple versions of basically this same video, with relevant media persons (like radio or tv hosts) acting like it would be in the real case scenario.
The video felt frighteningly realistic. I completed my own service time in the defense forces in the late 90s as a military police, and even then there was a lot of practice in managing the situations described in the video. War doesn't start these days (if it ever did) by issuing a declaration of war and then attacking. There is often a long gray zone before actual military operations. Maybe you should watch older video, Sotilaspoliisit, Military Police in Action - Guards Jaeger Regiment
I like how the events of the video escalate slowly and how they portray different aspects, like the way everything could be reported about in the media. And as many have said, the news cast is familiar faces, so that makes it feel real. Maybe the plot feels a bit optimistic and the acting is not perfect in all the places. So not a movie, but that is to be expected. Excellent idea and good execution.
i was on monday at the mandatory military conscripment, where you go and get info abt your future military servise and choose where you want to serve. This video was shown to us and it was quite eerie. I am trying to get into the finnish diver special forces.
LOOK UP: COMBAT CAMERA For similar videos like this. Also there is not many videos like this, because combat camera crew get a lot special footage that would otherwise be classified to film/edit. Its basically a studio but its fully operated by finnish defence forces personell. So its FDF producing and filming these amazing videos. They did exceptionally good job with this one by having real finnish news reporters etc in this. So those arent actors. Thats level of and attention to detail is remarkable. Not sure if any other country produces and films their videos
EDIT: look up ”combat camera”. They also have montages/showreels with clips throughtout a year. As from someone living in Hanko this was very interesting to watch and felt like movie but same time giving chills for the seriousness was interesting. I think finnish army has this own combat cam or something like it. They usually are professional military because you cant let just any random crew to film and edit military stuff and the quality of the combatcam videos usually are sick af. There was one similar video but about some situation in helsinki. It was shot almost like this video but slightly different scenario. Too bad i cant recall the name of that one
There is saying among military personnel. No tactit survives contact with enemy. And thats truth. In this video everything is going smoothly. It never goes.
Hits my eye that they use translation for " puolustusvoimat " ( Defence forces ) or " maajoukot " ( ground forces ) as "Army". We have defence forces yes. But it is informal to say Army.
Well, after reacting to this, why not look, and react to the Jägarsoldat serie, about the Swedish rangers,. It is 16 episodes, and if you can fond someone to add subs to the first episodes, I am sure you will enjoy it. Nice reaction through, and I really like this short film....
The news broadcasters were real so when he said "Finland is at war"... I felt chills...
Happens every time although I've seen this many times.
@@Haryu73 It's same for me. I can watch that video only twice a year, because it just makes me too emotianal. Perkele.
Wheres my rk?

10:06 Swedish??? These are Finnish snipers and as said, they are the best in the World☝️

I like how well this video predicted how a Russian invasion would look like just two years before it happened in Ukraine.

US marines are a joke.

One of our neighbours thinks that it's already in war with us Finns :/

As you see, Finnish fighter pilots communicate in english, a bit "rally-english" but it works.

"Swedish snipers" (10:06)!!! Those at the airport were by the way professional soldiers.
'Keep Calm and Carry On' - attitude

Highly organized and clever system. Smart soldiers, new tactics. Every enemy soldier knows, thet meet death here.
And part of this is actually happening right now...chilling.

"Taistelukenttä 1998" is an older and slightly different variant of this. Check it out.

Haha, l live about 50 kms of Kajaani airport. Böö, nice video although. 😅
The Finnish defence forces made the clip.

army is literally maavoimat :D

Almost all males in Finland are military trained.
you get lollipop in finland if you get hit
10:06 bro never ever say shit like that
That finnish snipers are best in the world?
Hey rusky. They're THE BEST. Consistently at top of leaderboard in competitions.
Finnish snipers 😅
