He’s speaking facts. I sold my challenger when I realize how much I was spending on payments, gas, insurance. I would’ve been in a bad position in 6-8 months. I was in negative equity by $1200 but it would’ve been worst if I didn’t put down payment at the beginning. I ended up getting a Honda accord and I haven’t worried about my car finances since.

I knew this was coming 2 years ago. People paying $20K+ over MSRP on vehicles, loaned out 130% at 84 months. They'll have to chock it up as a really expensive learning lesson after the Repo truck pulls away. I'm amazed at all the videos out there of 20-21 year old kids with $1300/mo car payments (that's before insurance and maintenance too). Pure insanity.

I was fortunate to have bought it prior to 2021, then was able to sell it for slightly more than I paid. (2019 ZL1 convertible 😎). Even then I knew I didn’t want 1200/month going to payments/insurance combined. Guys. We are in the last days. Get right with God, ask Jesus into your heart. He’ll guide you down life’s path. This is WHY it pains me that our education system doesn't teach and heavily focus on a financial literacy curriculum. Obtaining a loan to buy stuff (cars, homes, business) is THE major part of our overall economy, so choosing not to teach the population how to avoid or deal with financial hardship seems cruel, sadistic, and like a lawyer chasing an ambulance for profit. Education is a good substitute for suffering to learn the "hard way". Not everything is "common sense" to every one, especially financially. Thanks for another great video full of good advice from a guy with real world experience! 👍

As far as the voluntary repossession that definitely worked for my mothers benefit when she had to do it years ago. After she put herself in a better position financially a few months later the buy here pay here she bought the car from worked out a deal with her to pay a small lump some and shows the car was paid in full on her credit.

This is a very informative video. This reminds me of the time i got my new Toyota back in 2015 and then due to some unforeseen large medical bills I fell behind on my car payment for a couple months. Well, I was able to avoid a repossession, because I decided to do this whole gig work thing to pay for the car. So for a year I hustled on Uber and doordash and used the earnings to attack the loan. I’m glad I did as the car is fully paid off. Thankfully, the mileage is not crazy on it. 2015 Corolla with only 94k miles.

It makes me sick to my stomach to hear people going through this. Because of my own apprehensiveness thank god I’ve never been through it. It was like pulling teeth for me to even finance my current RT my own sister thought I was crazy lmao. I was so apprehensive I put down 10k on a 26k car I just didn’t want to have a high payment I didn’t want to have to alter my lifestyle because of a car. I’d love to have a newer Mopar or Mustang GT but if I can’t get it at a healthy price through my bank it just doesn’t make sense.
You CANNOT be afraid to WAIT! I’m 42 I grew up poor as hell I didn’t get a nice car till I was 30 but I put in some work I’m a administrator in education I make REALLY good money but I’m not gonna overextend myself. Having a $1800 car note is just financially irresponsible unless you’re making over 6 figures. I hope everyone makes it out of this recession it’s a mess!!! I’ll get what’s mine when it’s time but I’m not gonna let these banks and dealerships screw me because I love cars. I had a 2000 Buick Regal with 180k miles on it before I got my Challenger 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Just because dodge is discontinuing the v8s doesn’t mean running to a dealership and spending all your savings because it’s your dream car. If it’s not meant to be then it’s not maybe along the way you will get something better. But when you rush guess who is losing for making a bad decision? ya yourself . These companies CEO don’t care if you can’t afford it all they care about is money in their pockets. Don’t be the person that puts yourself and family in a long financial debt. This hit home. Been in bankruptcy after my 30 day ICU for cancer. 500k in medical bills, no way to ever pay that back. Now Im staring down that barrel again after my heart attack. Not sure how many bills are gonna come in, but they came.
The issue is that mantra, of saving for a rainy day. If I did that, I wouldnt have any chance of investing for retirement. I would only be putting it away. I figured, I had enough things on my medical bingo chart, that I was done. Nope. So it sucks, you do what you can, and hope for the best.
I will say that the only time I felt invincible was when I was healthy, and young, and that backfired on me. Now, Im momre negative, true, but at least it keeps me braced for impact, cuz boy, the impacts they keepa coming lol

Thats a lot of payments. I know its heart related...and there is the VA (even as incompetent as they are, I might use them to get tests and bloodwork done).

You didn't mention about doing a refinance if you own a home, which we did lucky before the rates jumped like crazy...paid off both vehicles which had combined payments of $1400 a month...yes our house payment went up some afterwards but things were sorta getting tough before...but we have both titles now free and clear and still maintained our excellent credit.

so i had a beautiful destroyer grey widebody scat loved every second of owning that car.
unfortunately it was way more that i can handle on my finance side. I decided to swallow my pride and spoke to my wife about it. No one wanted to help me. luckily i was able to trade it in for a 23 camry and only got a few thousands of negative equity thrown over. I can say i learned my lesson and wont be doing something like that again without thinking about my finance situation is.

Banks and dealers were making money hand over fist. It’s all crashing down now.

I would say before you take on a massive auto loan save and make money first. This is America and opportunity is there. I'm 53 yrs old and been in the casino business since 91. In the mid 90's I moved from Jersey( my home town) to Biloxi MS. That's where I saw my opportunity as houses were 50-150 Ave. I busted my ass and bought 3 houses in 5 yrs. They are now more than doubled in value. 2 almost tripled. I now have 7 houses. 5 in Biloxi and 2 in Atlanta. What I'm saying is look where the market is going to boom and buy. This is America so bust your ass and play the game. Then you'll have no problem buying that expensive car you want.

Couldn’t agree more, cut your losses. Work with your bank, they want to bleed you through your lifetime not just 1 loan event, they’ll work with you, but you’ll pay. Take the deal and get better.

OC is exactly right! Another thing once you get clear of the situation don't ever put yourself upside down ever again. I have never had a car payment over $400 a month and I have owned some nice cars over the last 50 or so years. Too many folks I know have had high payments on cars or trucks and when the first bit of adversity comes they are in trouble. If you can't put enough down to have a modest car payment you really can't afford it. If you follow that rule in life things will be easier for you.

    • @kickit59
      @kickit59 9 месяцев назад +1

@@BigDilf3 You get to play more if you don't make poor financial decisions. When you have a modest car payment or no car payment you have more money to play with. I have a nice Accord for my daily and a very nice Saleen Mustang with 12K miles and no car payments. This allows me to enjoy my hobbies because if I had a large car payment all of my disposable income would being going into a car payment rather than other things that I enjoy as well. I am 64 and the cars I have will most likely last longer than I will. So I may not buy another car.

7:28 tie rod ends on a sport car, 3 hour quote $60 parts, and a $900 repair bill. working taxes for business, 86% state/fed combined, so that's a $42/hr working rate no its $34/hr after parts cost, no one can afford to pay the home mortgage and have lunch at local designated establishments for that billing rate. "complain about the bill, and fill out a 90 day consignment form"

Just because a car is repo'ed doesn't mean you can't get it back either. I bought a brand-new Naples Gold 2002 Honda Accord Sedan at the same time we were having our house built. Maybe a year or two later after living in our new house, things got a little tight and we were a little late. My wife got a call from the bank, and I told her to park it in the garage, then I called her back and said let them take it. I'm still driving that Naples Gold 2002 Honda Accord Sedan along with my other 4 vehicles, including my 2021 Widebody Challenger Scat Pack T/A edition and a Ducati 1098. Do the right thing and call the bank. I did, and they told me exactly what I needed to do to get the car back. First of all, it is as embarrassing as hell, but the worst thing is sometimes the guys who reposes your car don't give a shit about it unless you make it easy for them. They're getting paid, point blank. Sort of like, Wanted Dead or Alive, so don't run from them. When I got to the yard to finally get my car back, it had almost no fuel. They siphoned all the gas out, and I had to keep my fingers crossed as my brother drove behind me in case I ran out of gas before reaching a gas station.

I like this car but im currently thinking about letting the repo man take it at this point its been 458 a month and i feel like i could be saving so much by no longer having it. I can deal with the payments but i no longer want it due to bills im having as im getting more into my 20s. Ill probably be happy with less right now so i can enjoy my 20s a lil bit better so i can go back to that life and be ready for things like this

I wouldn't feel bad for the people who paid the markups. They knew what they were doing and didn't need that fancy latest and greatest next thing. That's part of the problem too many people have the "wants" and do not necessarily need that shiny new toy whether it's a car, phone, motorcycle, etc. Then realize a year or 2 later they can't pay for it

Damn man you are giving me 08 flashbacks. Mid 20's sub contracting in construction money just rolled in as fast as you could do jobs. We built house on acreage with a adjustable rate of course. Then one general contractor went bankrupt never paid then another guess what the jobs dried up and there goes everything. By 2012 we bought the house we are in now refinanced in 2019 and sitting on a bunch of equity. No car payments have a small payment on a bike and that even bothers me now. I am still ashamed and won't really tell anyone what happened. I do wish I had that house I built because it is worth a lot now but I don't look I don't even like to drive by it.

My wife and I put 22k down on our first house in 07
In 2012 I cut a check for over 2k and spent 2weeks and 7500$ building a nice bathroom in the basement just to sell it.
We walked away having paid 1800$ a month for 5 years and loosing a total of 32k on top of the huge payment with no equity to walk with. It was a huge lesson. Our next place was 55k and took me an entire year to rebuild and move in. Best thing that we ever did. We stayed for a long time and eventually the neighborhood became gentrified and I made a boat load of doe when we sold.
Moved to coastal fl in 2017 when houses where cheap.

7 years of vehicle repo on your credit is not short term... The problem is that most people know what they were getting into as they signed the loan document.. Basically, what happened during the housing market crash. Necessity for accountability is due. Social media is partly to blame as everyone is trying to live a life they can't afford.

  • @MakoKong

Even giving them two months of the car payment isn't going to prevent them from getting their car taken. They're still going to have it repossessed at a future date. It's their fault for feeding into the system of overpriced cars. There's a reason why dealers kept those markup stickers on the cars. These guys were paying those prices

I bought a new gladiator and traded it 2 weeks later for a new f150. That loan is financed for 58k. I work an hour and a half away from my home and put 200 miles a day just to work 6 days a week. My f150 is only worth 42k trade in and im at the point now where im gonna just take the 16k hit on my truck to get a car that can save me way more in gas. Ill recoup that negative equity in two years and it will free up 1k in monthly cashflow. It will be a very expensive lesson.

great advice! because I pay close attention to economic trends I begrudgingly sold my 21 Hellcat Redeye Widebody and cut my payment in half on a 22 ram 1500 Laramie before ever getting in trouble. got what I owed from the dealership 2k down on the ram. ram's value is exactly what I owe 2.5 % interest keeps me above water. I will have another challenger hellcat Widebody when the time is right for me.
