I really enjoy the format of these videos, the combination each time of a recipe with some helpful tips and tricks on a variety of subjects is really nice. Plus the edits with occasional B-Roll are very nice aswel. I figured it needed to be said, good job keep up the nice work

Those red tanks can last forever if you do it right. I only have the regulator on when in use. Also, I barely open the valve so that the bubbles are barely breaking the surface. Then let it go for a minute. I’ve probably done 10 batches, and it’s still going.

A favourite style for me. Ages well over three+ years. The sweetness becomes rum and dark fruit complexity with age.

I remember Wee Heavies being drunk in the pub as a chaser by old men with their whisky.
They'd order a whisky and Wee Heavy and alternate between the two.
Not many left in production commercially in Scotland now, I've only ever tried a Mackesons Wee heavy, sold in 330ml cans.
Never something ive seen drunk in pints.
    Enjoying the series, cheers.

you have just inspired me to brew something similar, I'm in south east Australia we are snowed in down here, not sure if you saw the news snowing in places that rarely get snow, love dark beers heaps in the cold but I find that they taste better when they are aged for 1 to 2 Months even if they are around the 5% mark so I bottle my stouts and porters

I've read a couple of Ron Pattinson's books about Scottish brewing and he finds through brewing logs and records that their attenuation was typically very low. He speculates that the Scotts simply liked their beer sweet and malty and as far as he has been able to determine the breweries achieved low attenuation intentionally to achieve that characteristic.

Stronger beer with a bonus smaller beer? I'm sensing parti-gyle brewing! I just did this with a hybrid Cascadian Dark/NEIPA brew with a session Black IPA that both turned out FANTASTIC! For your brew day, however, I'm guessing Belgian Tripel and Patersbier. Great combo! It's not something I'll do often, but on ocassion, it's a fun, albeit LONG brew day! Very rewarding in the end!

I think you can recycle the O2 tanks at the hardware store. Also, some hardware stores might give you a discount if you buy another O2 tank at the same time you exchange the used one.

You don't use this beer to drink as it is it's used to mix with a pint of heavy to make the pint of heavy stronger and taste like beer in Scotland when it was brewed stronger in say pick a year 1920 or 1950 a Glasgow pint was about 8 or 9%. So it isn't designed to drink as a full pint it's a mixer for a normal pint and when you do mix it with a pint of Export it's perfect.

Please never use O2 (oxygen) that you can get from a hardware store! It isn't food safe and may contain oil residue. Every can I've purchased had that warning on the label. You can get food grade or medical grade O2 from any gas or welding supply shop. They can get you set up with tanks and regulators. Your old hardware store O2 tanks can be recycled as scrap steel. We take them to the hunting land and use them as targets before they go to the scrap metal dealer. Cheers!
