Thanks for the info. Similar issue with the Neewer brand flash on Amazon. 6 year later, the new models still have this issue. Baffles me why they haven't yet redesigned this.

I bought on aliexpress the replacement door. i thought it was wrong i didnt manage to make it work. so for like 1 year i had the replacement door , but i use my flash with always a good scotch to make the door not going out (joing was dead) but sometimes i forget my scotch so i was asking to people. it was just a mess. and one day (yesterday) i had a photoshoot on location and the scotch wasnt enough strong so i end up using only one flash (instead of 2 ) and when i went i home. OKAY IM gonna repair this shit or buy a new one. Dude i type on google and find you , and im like a fkkkk idiot because i would have just need to do when you put the door replacement , instead of trying to push , i slide it like you . AND IT WORKS

Though may I add, that some replacement door don't have a spring in the door lock which is the lock with a sign "BATT OPEN'. Check if your replacement door comes with a spring, i.e. if you slide and release it doesn't spring back. if it doesn't you have to take the spring from the old door and put it in the replacement door.

Just whate I needed to know. Thanks. NOW I have a question. My 685 is so old it has a firmware of 1.2.2 and I am trying to update it. I guess where it is so old, it will not go into update mode. The instructions say to hold down the MODE button as you turn it on and it will go into update mode. My other 685's work fine but this one will NOT go into update mode. Do you know any other way?

You need a YN622-TX to update.
