- From the time our first ancestor picked up a stick, our species has been developing new and interesting weapons. So how would the weapons of RWBY work (or not work) if they were to be constructed in reality?

I used to love how in RWBY you could tell a bit about the user by looking at their weapon

Thank you. I try to analyze the good and the bad of everything, while trying to avoid disrespecting people. The world has enough of that without me adding to it.

@@anthonyking6037 I don't have any plans to. Mostly because there isn't that much I could contribute. I know that V9 is supposed to be inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but I've never seen any version of it, and all we can do with a trailer is speculate. I do plan to make videos of what I notice in the episodes of V9, though.

Being fair to Storm flower, the blades placement might not be idea for attack, but are pretty good for defense. Which you might want if you have to gunkata your way through a group of bulletproof super fast swordsman.
Adam’s Wilt and Blush hands down. I loved Jetstream Sam from Metal Gear Rising, and Vergil from DMC. Iaido style sword fighting was always a spectacle and the Murasama similarities helped as well.

The shotgun gauntlets are surprisingly feasible, there was a 'gun glove' was used by the oss in WWII. The major issues would be weight, heat build up from firing, reliability, and proper safeties.
I always did like war scythe As well as spears. I would probably run something like that for long range and then have an actual pistol or something for short range and close quarters combat

I love Crescent Rose because it means that Ruby is absolutely shredded
The world of RWBY has this thing called aura and weapons is a conduit for one (even non traditional weapons such as a loaf of bread, a swordfish, a celery stick, atc.) Aura makes weapon a lot stronger so it won't break as easily

Rapier as a term was used very loosely historically. Both smallswords and some sabers have at times been referred to as rapiers. We today lile to meticulously cathegorize these things, but at the time, people didn't really care.

I was thinking of making a video about the weapons of RWBY myself but you pretty much said what I had to say.
Yeah, RWBY's weapons are impractical but it's a fictional fantasy world.
If you want everyone to be super smart and practical, characters like Ruby would just use pistols and machine guns from a distance, use her semblance to run away and do that all over again. And I think variety is what this show really likes to go for.

I can see one advantage Cresent Rose has, since its a sniper rifle when she digs the head into the ground it would act like a bi-pod, admititly this would ruin the edge on the blade doing that.
The best weapons in the series is zwei, it's also very realistic. the weapon is just a corgi ^~^

@@lexo632 Forgot since it’s been a year and I didn’t save it. I only remember it was done by a guy who got some attention due to his animation but had gone offline for a while. When he came back, it was with a fan-animation of RWBY vs JNPR, but they actually use their weapons well (and semblances) like they trained for a while.

Honestly? Axes have always been my thing. I’d probably make a weapon that has an axe configuration for melee, with the gun portion being up for debate if I even get there l. This series always did have a bounty of options.
good thing crescent rose seems to be very well cared for by ruby regularly, also to my knowledge, ruby bult crescent rose herself

Interesting analysis but I have problem with it that you don't acknowledge aura. Even as "aura somewhat compensate for this problem" especially in case of weapon weight. All characters have super strength here.
probably helps that remnant is a world where magic and supernatural things are real things
I'd bet with the weight, Crescent Rose would still kill instantly even if you hit with the shaft.
And in Blazblue Cross Tag Battle (I know, reaching) she does strike with the weird spiky pommel thing.
I can spot a massive problem with the weapon. You would Krumlauf the sniper rifle very fast because the shaft of the scythe is the barrel of the rifle. No matter how thick the barrel is, it being the shaft of a scythe will result in getting bent.
I can think of one way to improve Myrtenaster. Instead of a break action, use a reload mechanism like a Colt Peacemaker, that way the tang can rest at the center. The break action reload is the only major issue I can find. Albeit, it's a massive one for a sword.
Most allegorical weapon for Crescent Rose surprisingly the Bec De Corbin, the scythe non scythe weapon ever created.
12:43 a reverse gripe works well enough with smaller blades like storm flowers daggers so that’s fine my issue is that with how they’re just attached to the otherwise normal guns which would make any stabbing maneuvers possible.
It would’ve been better if the dagger section pointed outward like a pair of bayonets which would actually compliment rens perpetuity for slashing moves and would combo well with the guns.
I’ve seen them work in only one context the blades acting as a secondary close quarters tool where the guns + hand to hand provide offense.
There actually are a few guns that can switch between semi-automatic and pump action. The most notable being the Spas-12 and Benelli M3, but these only do this because they're designed for law enforcement and non-lethal rounds don't have enough force to reliably cycle the gun. I've never heard of a semi-automatic/bolt action hybrid firearm though.

The guns use dust, and dust is activated by aura, it looked more easier to see in the earlier volumes
Neo has strong aura andthe umbrell part is uhm durable idk where she hides her umbrella because it comes outta no where maybe in her big ass hair lol the blade inside it has two blades she can make it as long as she wants as long as the umbrella is folded
You are probably one of the few people who actually do Rwby weapon Justice, but I like to say that Yang's weapons are the most effective and realistic, people tend to forget that the gun glove was actually a real weapon in WWII and while some shotgun blast can definitely hurt you with enough time or the right caliber rounds this isn't too big of an issue, the old model for Yang's weapons back in the first three volumes had a small trigger on her pointing finger that she could pull unfortunately newer seasons have completely forgotten that but Inspire that it would probably work the best in real life out of all the weapons in the show because it has been done before the real issue is getting used to the weapon and that could be done with time.
Oh and one more thing does Micro missiles aren't actually micro missiles they are apparently modified slugs.

I like the idea of a bastard sword that opened down the centre and has a gravity dust railgun
They don't even really use Standard Metal Bullets
They're Firing what can be Aura Charged Dust or even Aura it's self (Which can also explain why Aura gets so weak at time they've been using to much Aura as Projectile attacks as their weapons are Aura Conduits)
They're sending Aura out as Bullets from what I got in my understanding of how it works
Even in Ice Queendom the Ranged weapons all make Energy Sounds when fired
I would beg to differ on one point only. Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang (Sun's nunchucks / Bô) aren't weak compared to a flail. Yeah, maybe they're smooth compared to an actual flail but also, they are shotgun and let me tell you... shotguns are not light. A shotgun weighs, in average, about 6 to 8 pounds (2.5 to 3.5 kilograms approximately) not including the ammos inside it. (Considering Sun's weapon is made out of 4 shotguns, that's about 24 to 32 pounds or 10 to 14 kilograms). And even if Sun's weapon was even lighter, the whole thing about Sun is his agility. It's not about how powerful you want the hit to be, it's about how many hits you can deal in a second.

Sickles are interesting. They can definitely do some damage, but it can be difficult to use them without putting yourself in a position where your opponent can hit you. Skallagrim did a few videos on them a while back, you should check them out. He even sparred with an opponent to show what it was like.

My favorite weapons are Nora,hammer,oz cane,winters swords,Raven sword,Penny's blades
Downward strikes with reverse grip is much more comfortable
Personally, I wouldn’t like using any of those weapons they shown from rwby.
I like claws as weapons. So bladed finger weapons such as iron reavers are more my style.
I’m not a big Wolverine fan but I do like his claws. Those things are awsome. Though I wouldn’t want metal claws slicing out of my flesh every time I used them.
With the weapons in RWBY, the weapons are also protected by aura.

I think it'd be cool if I used a spork that had a dust chamber so that I can leak dust into the spoon and then stab it into an enemy detonating it. It'd also have a rifle element for long distance

study Ruby's weapon. as its described...its not able to function. her rifle part does not have the space actually have a firing, cycling or any other mechanism in place to shoot. its scope is built in way to close for anything larger then like 9mm. and her mag size shows its a very large caliber. let alone the size of the casing it loses after firing.
also. even if it Could fire. when its planted in the ground like in the Qrow v T fight. her scythe would fail after about 6 shots from recoil. her scythes pivot points are weak spots that would be put under so much pressure they would snap
we see this spinning in the Red trailer and Episode 3 of Volume 7.

Also one of the most dangerous weapons to be designed I headcanon as one of the most dangerous weapons designed when it comes to the user.
And the gunchucks are just rule of cool, definitely wouldn't work in real life.
I still love RWBY Weapons & Volumes, I don't care what's wrong with it, how it's bad, and so on.
