Yes, you will see in SHINee's early days Taemin didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs. People even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." it wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young -- he was only 14 years old -- that his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't really have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. So, in the beginning, when he sang he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc. And because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee who were all 2 to 4 years older than him and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. That's why in these first few songs you will see that he only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song. However, if he was really tone deaf he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. Someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune. But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. If you notice, Taemin's style of singing, especially in SHINee songs, is a lot like Jonghyun -- SHINee's main vocalist, and one of the best vocalists in the industry. And once you watch more of SHINee, you will see that Taemin fills in for Jonghyun whenever Jonghyun was unable to participate in a performance. And even today, Taemin often takes over the high notes and the parts that I think would probably have been Jonghyun's parts in their new songs. Jonghyun was the one that really took Taemin under his wing and helped him to become the singer that he is today. So, many think that Taemin's voice emulates Jonghyun because he is the one that taught Taemin to sing. Jonghyun has always been Taemin's biggest supporter and the one that rooted for him the hardest and loudest out of anyone.
Yey thanks for reacting to SHINee. Actually these are from 2008 and Taemin was just 14 then. He had few singing lines then (actually in Replay he didn't even have a solo line) because he was initially just on a dancer position and was told his voice wasn't for singing. He just worked hard to improve on it with the help if his SHINee hyungs especially Jonghyun. If you're doing chronological order, next would be Juliette and Ring Ding Dong (2009 songs). If you're going off track I suggest check out their lives especially Everybody (Tokyo Dome), Sherlock (SWC 4) and Why So Serious (SWC5).. for now 😊
@nctlove - no about Key, because you can see that he had a good part on Replay in 2008 and he was been always active in singing from beginning. His voice is unique like Onew and Jonghyun. And Taemin didn't because his voice was changing and he didn't had professional help at beginning and with Onew and Jonghyun help he improved. About Minho I think he was and still is underrated his voice is very beautiful, soft and deeper and this from beginning but because he was selected to be rapper, but in obsession, romantic you can enjoy is voice .The same with dancing, all members can dance very well, is true that Taemin is better dancer than Jonghyun and Onew but Key is as good like Taemin but in different ways Taemin movements are more fluid and Key are more Sharp .In my opinion the same way Minho is underrated with his voice Key is underrated with his dance.
I don't think that's true Taemin was 14 and going thru puberty and so he was advised to give his vocals some training in order to not damage his voice for the future. You will see as he gets older his lines are longer too. Taemin himself told so in an interview
SHINee are such a versatile group, they've done so many songs in different genres and have even introduced new genres into kpop. They're trendsetters, the trends they started are still seen in kpop today. Not only is their discography flawless, each of the members solo stuff is flawless as well. SHINee really are the kings.
If I remember correctly when yt was fairlg new SM had a different channel. So everything was reuploaded around 2010/11, when they rebranded their yt channel, because yt was starting to become super popular. So a lot of the views before were actually lost.
SHINee won grandslam rookie of the year (first ever to have swept all rookie awards) in 2008 for these songs. It was an amazing debut! And they only get better through the years. Although, "Amigo" sounds like the Spanish word for friend, In Korean A.Mi.Go is supposed to be an acronym for the Korean phrase that means, something like: "You will suffer on your way to falling in love with a beauty.".So, the story is about how the girl stole Minho's heart. She took his heart and left him with the note that is hanging around his neck. She has unfrozen him with her touch and put color back into the world. However, as the song says, "Cold heart, baby ... Cold eyes, baby." They are saying they have fallen for her, but as "the ice princess," she is always unavailable and just out of arm's reach. But they can't help falling for her anyway. That is why Minho is chasing after her. If you notice she is always one step ahead of him. He can never catch her no matter how hard he tires. That is why she is the "Ice princess." she is sexy and intoxicating, but she is always playing hard to get. The MV is literally depicting every word of the song. If you want to understand the MV better you should look up an English translation of the lyrics. As the lyrics say: "go, I run, ... Challenges are always fun, ... But the world isn’t as easy as it seems. ... I lose my mind when I see her, ... I'm unable to grasp her by this hand," etc. The story in the MV makes a lot more sense once you you combine it with the lyrics. On a side note: Minho's is the visual of the group who is known for his natural model good looks. His nickname is Flaming Charisma and he is also known for being super athletic and competitive, so that is why he is the member who is chasing the girl. In real life Minho doesn't stop until he wins and he hates to lose. He is good at almost every sport so he very rarely loses. :D But even he is no match for the "ice princess." Minho also has the deepest voice, so SM made him the group's main rapper, and Key is the lead rapper. They are such a versatile group that on the rare occasion when one of the members is unable to participate in a performance because they were injured or busy, any of the other members could potentially be tapped to fill in for them -- all the members can cover all the parts of their songs. Next to R&B, I think Rock is SHINee's next best genre of music and they often do rock style remixes of their songs at their concerts. The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***. Her name is Victoria and she is from the group F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Yeppeo is a term that means beautiful that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. ***Groups are considered sister/brother groups to each other when they are groups who are under the same label who usually debut within a few years or less of each other and they are usually groups that are similar in size (number of members), the members are all close in age, and they often have similar concepts and music styles. Love like Oxygen is still one of my favourite. I agree with you, one of the things that is unique about Shinee, is that each of their voices have a different tone and when they are harmonizing together you immediatly get the special Shinee vibe.
I’m sure it’s been commented earlier but Replay is definitely one of Kpop’s best debut songs and is still my favourite Shinee song. Shinee also introduced a whole new style of dancing in their MVs. And of course they have those strong SM vocals and harmonies.

A lot of people don't react to these since they weren't huge title tracks in comparison to Replay, Juliette, and Ring Ding Dong from their early years. Like most SM groups, SHINee also has some amazing ballads! I really recommend the below (even just in your free time) bc SHINee's harmonies are *chef's kiss*. Like you said, their sound is really distinctive because of the way their voices blend, they're super easy to recognize from a vocal perspective even though they experimented with a lot of genres throughout their career. Don't forget to add their dance practices and/or dance version MVs as well to your reaction list; their choreographies and dancing are top notch, just like their vocals. Shinee basically started the whole "let's put our dance practices online" trend within kpop (as well as many other things... like colourful skinny jeans 😆). Sidenote: the girl in Replay is Victoria Song, who would become a member and the leader of F(x), another SM group. Sadly they've disbanded not long ago. (Another member, Krystal Jung, is featured in their Juliette mv.) Jsyk Taemin didn't get many solo lines in the beginning because SM considered his singing weak. Most of the solo lines were distributed between Onew, Jonghyun and Key with Minho mainly rapping (with Key). While all the members took good care of him equally, Onew and Jonghyun especially played a tremendous part in Taemin's development as a vocalist and artist.
SHINee is a Contemporary RnB boy band and as they go on, they became more experimental in terms of their music. Their bsides are gold especially their ballad music. Their Japanese discography is to also die for. Yes, they are the kings of live vocals and performances, and yes they all can sing and dance and they are especially trained to perform live while dancing to some strong and complicated choreos. That's SHINee for you, they are amongst the top 3 artists (along with TVXQ and Big Bang) who can sold out dome venues during concerts and the only act who can bring in 55,000 fans in Tokyo Dome for just a fanmeet, yes fanmeet and not a concert. If it's a concert, they need to book the dome of at least 3 days of concerts just to cater to all the fans. They are legendary group that is well respected by their juniors in the industry. Contrary to their concept, Taemin's one is different. See it for yourself as you explore SHINee and Taemin respectively. We will join with your journey in discovering them. Someone asked me the other day what my favorite SHINee song is. For me thats an impossible question to answer because I love them all. But I would recommend watching Everybody, Married to the music and Dreamgirl.
The Korean version of "Love Like Oxygen" was released as the lead promotional track on SHINee's first full length album The SHINee World in August 2008. It was a sort of repackaged album after their debut single "Replay" in May 2008. Fun fact: They also released a Japanese version of "Love Like Oxygen" in 2011 as part of the group's Japanese debut. SM launched its new RUclips channel in 2011 as well, so all of their videos will be date stamped from 2011 to the present, because they reuploaded all their older videos that year. Onew is the one wearing green, Jonghyun is in yellow, Minho is in blue, Key is in red/pink and Taemin is the one in white with the hat. Taemin, who is the youngest member -- his birthday is in July, -- was 15 years old in this video. SHINee's level of professionalism and maturity was there from the very beginning -- there were only 2 or 3 months between "Replay" and "Love like Oxygen." :D It's just SHINee's style, they are constantly switching up the feel and vibe to every song you hear from them. Jonghyun is the main vocalist of the group and he is also known for sounding like Michael Jackson. He is famous for that MJ growl and vocal cry that you heard in this song. And it's Jonghyun's vocals that pretty much shapes SHINee's style and sound. The one you hear with the high notes, long notes and adlibs in SHINee's songs most of the time is Jonghyun. So the one with the high note accompanying Minho's rap was Jonghyun. SHINee is made up of some of the most unique voices in all of Kpop, so once you start to recognize their voices, you will never wonder who is speaking or singing ever again. Pretty much all Shawols will tell you the same thing -- we can recognize all their voices instantly no matter the situation and we don't even have to see their faces to know its them. That's how unique all of their voices are -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. I am over the moon that you are delving into SHINee! Its a amazing journey. I discovered them in early 2018 not long after Jonghyun's passing. There is soooo much to discover and I find myself hearing music I never heard before even now. SHINee often experimented with introducing new concepts and sounds and if SHINee does something, you can bet within three months, everyone else is doing it too. Lol SHINee is my ultimate group. You summed it up. Their voices are so different from each others and each one very distinctive, but they come together into some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard. SHINee's influence reverberates through all of Kpop. There is so much to learn and I am happy to accompany you on your journey. I love when people are discovering SHINee! Bruh, you’re gonna love SHINee. They may have experimented with various styles for their title tracks over the years, but their B-sides consistently stayed heavily R&B. It makes sense since Jonghyun and Onew have voices that totally suit R&B.

For the first couple years Onew, Jonghyun, and Key did the majority of vocals and Minho and Key did the majority of rapping for SHINee songs. If Taemin has lines in early videos it's often Jonghyun's voice or a mix of the two. But he gradually got more and more lines over the years and now he often has the most!

Yes! You are finally diving deep into Shinee. Well, you know, taemin joined the group as the rap and main dancer. As Shinee evolved, Taemin challenged himself and trained very hard on his vocals. Seriously like 5yrs into Shinee, he just came out with these amazing vocals that threw fans off! Like such a hard working guy! Oh, people getting SHINee bc of SuperM is just the best thing. I'd expect more Taemin fans out of this super group (it's great, I love him and he deserves it!) but SHINee is extra special. :)) It never ever gets old seeing people listen to Replay (it came out in 2008!) for the first time, and it was obvious how much you enjoyed it! such a great debut song. :) SHINee does a bit of everything but what they're very good at is having that signature SHINee sound (you'll know it once you hear more) and magnificent blending of their distinct vocals. if you love R&B they have so many lovely tracks up that alley too.
SHINee is definitely unique in the industry. They just have a different flavor! Might be hard to believe from these old videos (debuted in 2008 btw and not 2011), but they are famous for being trendsetters in a music, fashion, etc. They are also famous for piloting shows. If someone started a new program, they always said, “Hey, let’s get SHINee for the first episode, and then it will be a success!” 😂. I would love for you to react to some of these shows later. Yes... You are right. SHINee's vocal colour is the most diverse in a group but yet they sound so good together. ❤ And they are one of the most synchronized group in their generation (and still is now) while also the one of the best live performer. They are called CDNee because it seems like they eat their CD to sound so good if not better at their live performances. It was the best for me. 🤩

Yes SHINee!!! They’re my ult group and the group that really got me into kpop. My best friend made me watch the Hello Baby season shinee was a part of back when we were in 6th grade and I loved them 💕 (she also had me watch Ring Ding Dong as my first exposure to kpop so it’s really saying something that I wasn’t automatically thrown off from the music lol) they will forever and always be the group that’s closest to my heart and I’m so excited to see you react to them! They have a very diverse sound and we’re known as SM’s experimental group because they used to be the first SM group to guest on new variety shows and they introduced sounds that weren’t heard as much in kpop. All 5 of them are incredibly talented and some of the most humble celebrities I’ve ever seen 😊 also probably already mentioned but they debuted very young; taemin being barely 14 and Onew (leader/oldest) being 18. They’ve been around for 12 years having debuted in May 2008

SHINee is pronounced like Shiny -- as in shiny stars or Shiny diamonds -- because they are so magnificent that they need a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine. They SHINe(e) like the sparkling performers that they are. That is also why their symbol is a diamond. SHINee were literally the first group to ever release a dance practice video and they are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today. SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. When it comes to live performances, SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach. You really should check out some of their live performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. Well, the members of SHINee actually were mentors to a lot of the EXO members and they helped coach them in their singing. SHINee and EXO are both SM Entertainment groups. Yes, you will see in SHINee's early days Taemin didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs. People even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." it wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young -- he was only 14 years old -- that his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't really have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. So, in the beginning, when he sang he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc.
And because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee who were all 2 to 4 years older than him and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. That's why in these first few songs you will see that he only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song.
However, if he was really tone deaf he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. Someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune.
But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice.
If you notice, Taemin's style of singing, especially in SHINee songs, is a lot like Jonghyun -- SHINee's main vocalist, and one of the best vocalists in the industry. And once you watch more of SHINee, you will see that Taemin fills in for Jonghyun whenever Jonghyun was unable to participate in a performance. And even today, Taemin often takes over the high notes and the parts that I think would probably have been Jonghyun's parts in their new songs. Jonghyun was the one that really took Taemin under his wing and helped him to become the singer that he is today. So, many think that Taemin's voice emulates Jonghyun because he is the one that taught Taemin to sing. Jonghyun has always been Taemin's biggest supporter and the one that rooted for him the hardest and loudest out of anyone.

Yey thanks for reacting to SHINee. Actually these are from 2008 and Taemin was just 14 then. He had few singing lines then (actually in Replay he didn't even have a solo line) because he was initially just on a dancer position and was told his voice wasn't for singing. He just worked hard to improve on it with the help if his SHINee hyungs especially Jonghyun.
If you're doing chronological order, next would be Juliette and Ring Ding Dong (2009 songs). If you're going off track I suggest check out their lives especially Everybody (Tokyo Dome), Sherlock (SWC 4) and Why So Serious (SWC5).. for now 😊

@nctlove - no about Key, because you can see that he had a good part on Replay in 2008 and he was been always active in singing from beginning. His voice is unique like Onew and Jonghyun. And Taemin didn't because his voice was changing and he didn't had professional help at beginning and with Onew and Jonghyun help he improved. About Minho I think he was and still is underrated his voice is very beautiful, soft and deeper and this from beginning but because he was selected to be rapper, but in obsession, romantic you can enjoy is voice .The same with dancing, all members can dance very well, is true that Taemin is better dancer than Jonghyun and Onew but Key is as good like Taemin but in different ways Taemin movements are more fluid and Key are more Sharp .In my opinion the same way Minho is underrated with his voice Key is underrated with his dance.
I don't think that's true Taemin was 14 and going thru puberty and so he was advised to give his vocals some training in order to not damage his voice for the future. You will see as he gets older his lines are longer too. Taemin himself told so in an interview

SHINee are such a versatile group, they've done so many songs in different genres and have even introduced new genres into kpop. They're trendsetters, the trends they started are still seen in kpop today. Not only is their discography flawless, each of the members solo stuff is flawless as well. SHINee really are the kings.

Although, "Amigo" sounds like the Spanish word for friend, In Korean A.Mi.Go is supposed to be an acronym for the Korean phrase that means, something like: "You will suffer on your way to falling in love with a beauty.".So, the story is about how the girl stole Minho's heart. She took his heart and left him with the note that is hanging around his neck. She has unfrozen him with her touch and put color back into the world. However, as the song says, "Cold heart, baby ... Cold eyes, baby." They are saying they have fallen for her, but as "the ice princess," she is always unavailable and just out of arm's reach. But they can't help falling for her anyway. That is why Minho is chasing after her. If you notice she is always one step ahead of him. He can never catch her no matter how hard he tires. That is why she is the "Ice princess." she is sexy and intoxicating, but she is always playing hard to get.
The MV is literally depicting every word of the song. If you want to understand the MV better you should look up an English translation of the lyrics. As the lyrics say: "go, I run, ... Challenges are always fun, ... But the world isn’t as easy as it seems. ... I lose my mind when I see her, ... I'm unable to grasp her by this hand," etc. The story in the MV makes a lot more sense once you you combine it with the lyrics.
On a side note: Minho's is the visual of the group who is known for his natural model good looks. His nickname is Flaming Charisma and he is also known for being super athletic and competitive, so that is why he is the member who is chasing the girl. In real life Minho doesn't stop until he wins and he hates to lose. He is good at almost every sport so he very rarely loses. :D But even he is no match for the "ice princess."

They are one of the most well rounded groups in the industry. When it comes to SHINee the vocalists can rap and the rappers can sing. They are such a versatile group that on the rare occasion when one of the members is unable to participate in a performance because they were injured or busy, any of the other members could potentially be tapped to fill in for them -- all the members can cover all the parts of their songs.

The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***. Her name is Victoria and she is from the group F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Yeppeo is a term that means beautiful that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them.

May 25, 2020, was SHINee's 12th anniversary. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than most other groups, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. It just goes to show you why they are legends in the industry.
SHINee debuted in 2008 when Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now after more than 12 years they are all in their late to mid-20s. (Onew just turned 30 this past December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. The group is currently on hiatus because 3 of the members are/were fulfilling their military obligations.
Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one in the hat -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc. His record still stands today.
Onew was recently discharge from the military. He was part of the military's promotional team so he spent a lot of time as a stage actor alongside several other idols who are also serving in the military right now.
Jonghyun -- the one with the bandanna -- is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed over 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc., as well as participated in several movie and drama OSTs. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer.
He was one of the very first Idols to be known for this songwriting and composing skills. As the main vocalist, Jonghyun is the one you hear with all the amazing high notes and R&B runs and ad libs most of the time.
Key -- the one in green -- is our diva and fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment with their sound or look, so Key is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized.
He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Key is serving in the military right now as well. He is part of the military band.

Minho is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is one of the top actors in the industry and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. Minho is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. I agree with you, one of the things that is unique about Shinee, is that each of their voices have a different tone and when they are harmonizing together you immediatly get the special Shinee vibe.
I’m sure it’s been commented earlier but Replay is definitely one of Kpop’s best debut songs and is still my favourite Shinee song. Shinee also introduced a whole new style of dancing in their MVs. And of course they have those strong SM vocals and harmonies.

I love that you reacted to Love Like Oxygen & A.Mi.Go too! A lot of people don't react to these since they weren't huge title tracks in comparison to Replay, Juliette, and Ring Ding Dong from their early years.
Like most SM groups, SHINee also has some amazing ballads! I really recommend the below (even just in your free time) bc SHINee's harmonies are *chef's kiss*. Like you said, their sound is really distinctive because of the way their voices blend, they're super easy to recognize from a vocal perspective even though they experimented with a lot of genres throughout their career. Jsyk Taemin didn't get many solo lines in the beginning because SM considered his singing weak. Most of the solo lines were distributed between Onew, Jonghyun and Key with Minho mainly rapping (with Key). While all the members took good care of him equally, Onew and Jonghyun especially played a tremendous part in Taemin's development as a vocalist and artist.

SHINee is a Contemporary RnB boy band and as they go on, they became more experimental in terms of their music. Their bsides are gold especially their ballad music. Their Japanese discography is to also die for. Yes, they are the kings of live vocals and performances, and yes they all can sing and dance and they are especially trained to perform live while dancing to some strong and complicated choreos. That's SHINee for you, they are amongst the top 3 artists (along with TVXQ and Big Bang) who can sold out dome venues during concerts and the only act who can bring in 55,000 fans in Tokyo Dome for just a fanmeet, yes fanmeet and not a concert. If it's a concert, they need to book the dome of at least 3 days of concerts just to cater to all the fans. They are legendary group that is well respected by their juniors in the industry. The Korean version of "Love Like Oxygen" was released as the lead promotional track on SHINee's first full length album The SHINee World in August 2008. It was a sort of repackaged album after their debut single "Replay" in May 2008. Fun fact: They also released a Japanese version of "Love Like Oxygen" in 2011 as part of the group's Japanese debut.
SM launched its new RUclips channel in 2011 as well, so all of their videos will be date stamped from 2011 to the present, because they reuploaded all their older videos that year.
Onew is the one wearing green, Jonghyun is in yellow, Minho is in blue, Key is in red/pink and Taemin is the one in white with the hat. Taemin, who is the youngest member -- his birthday is in July, -- was 15 years old in this video. SHINee's level of professionalism and maturity was there from the very beginning -- there were only 2 or 3 months between "Replay" and "Love like Oxygen." :D It's just SHINee's style, they are constantly switching up the feel and vibe to every song you hear from them.
Jonghyun is the main vocalist of the group and he is also known for sounding like Michael Jackson. He is famous for that MJ growl and vocal cry that you heard in this song. And it's Jonghyun's vocals that pretty much shapes SHINee's style and sound. The one you hear with the high notes, long notes and adlibs in SHINee's songs most of the time is Jonghyun. So the one with the high note accompanying Minho's rap was Jonghyun.

There is soooo much to discover and I find myself hearing music I never heard before even now. SHINee often experimented with introducing new concepts and sounds and if SHINee does something, you can bet within three months, everyone else is doing it too. Lol SHINee is my ultimate group.
You summed it up. Their voices are so different from each others and each one very distinctive, but they come together into some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard. Bruh, you’re gonna love SHINee. They may have experimented with various styles for their title tracks over the years, but their B-sides consistently stayed heavily R&B. It makes sense since Jonghyun and Onew have voices that totally suit R&B.

For the first couple years Onew, Jonghyun, and Key did the majority of vocals and Minho and Key did the majority of rapping for SHINee songs. If Taemin has lines in early videos it's often Jonghyun's voice or a mix of the two. But he gradually got more and more lines over the years and now he often has the most!
It's been 12 years for SHINee💙 and it's your first...atleast better late than never..but let us all have 2 minutes silence for those who still dont know these legends.

Yes! You are finally diving deep into Shinee. Well, you know, taemin joined the group as the rap and main dancer. As Shinee evolved, Taemin challenged himself and trained very hard on his vocals. Seriously like 5yrs into Shinee, he just came out with these amazing vocals that threw fans off! Like such a hard working guy! He worked his way up to become a leading vocals next to Shinee's main vocal Jonghyun, may he RIP 🙏 😢 💔
Shinee is forever classic 💯and the fact that they trained the same time as Suho of Exo and were suppose to debuted together but suho got a foot injury and debuted with Exo years later.. But I love Shinee as well I actually met a Japanese shawol(Shinee fan) and we became friends because Teamin and Kai are actually best friends in real life ❤️

Oh, people getting SHINee bc of SuperM is just the best thing. I'd expect more Taemin fans out of this super group (it's great, I love him and he deserves it!) but SHINee is extra special. :)) It never ever gets old seeing people listen to Replay (it came out in 2008!) for the first time, and it was obvious how much you enjoyed it! such a great debut song. :) SHINee does a bit of everything but what they're very good at is having that signature SHINee sound (you'll know it once you hear more) and magnificent blending of their distinct vocals. if you love R&B they have so many lovely tracks up that alley too.

SHINee is definitely unique in the industry. They just have a different flavor! Might be hard to believe from these old videos (debuted in 2008 btw and not 2011), but they are famous for being trendsetters in a music, fashion, etc. They are also famous for piloting shows. If someone started a new program, they always said, “Hey, let’s get SHINee for the first episode, and then it will be a success!” 😂. I would love for you to react to some of these shows later. Some are so hilarious! These boys are legends!
Yes... You are right. SHINee's vocal colour is the most diverse in a group but yet they sound so good together. ❤ And they are one of the most synchronized group in their generation (and still is now) while also the one of the best live performer. They are called CDNee because it seems like they eat their CD to sound so good if not better at their live performances. It was the best for me. 🤩

Yes SHINee!!! They’re my ult group and the group that really got me into kpop. My best friend made me watch the Hello Baby season shinee was a part of back when we were in 6th grade and I loved them 💕 (she also had me watch Ring Ding Dong as my first exposure to kpop so it’s really saying something that I wasn’t automatically thrown off from the music lol) they will forever and always be the group that’s closest to my heart and I’m so excited to see you react to them! They have a very diverse sound and we’re known as SM’s experimental group because they used to be the first SM group to guest on new variety shows and they introduced sounds that weren’t heard as much in kpop. All 5 of them are incredibly talented and some of the most humble celebrities I’ve ever seen 😊

SHINee is pronounced like Shiny -- as in shiny stars or Shiny diamonds -- because they are so magnificent that they need a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine. They SHINe(e) like the sparkling performers that they are. That is also why their symbol is a diamond.

SHINee were literally the first group to ever release a dance practice video and they are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today.
SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. So, if it sounds live, that's because it is. When it comes to live performances, SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard.
It's the standard all other groups strive to reach.
You really should check out some of their live performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear.
You know how good of vocalists EXO are. Well, the members of SHINee actually were mentors to a lot of the EXO members and they helped coach them in their singing. SHINee and EXO are both SM Entertainment groups. The members of EXO and the members of SHINee are all around the same age and they were all part of the same trainee classes together, and yet SHINee debuted 4 years before EXO, so that just goes to show you a little bit of what makes SHINee so amazing and why they are considered legends.

There are a lot of SHINee guide videos out there, but most Shawols will agree that these ones are the best because they were made by a true fan who really knows the members. Although other guides are good, I find that they have too many inside jokes that aren't explained well enough for new fans, which end up confusing people more than it helps them get to know the group and members. Please check out these guide videos first. The other guide videos are great, but they are better to watch after you have gotten to know the group and members better and are starting to understand their personalities more.
