Awesome I installed one of these valves in my 2015 lml a few years ago also, I have been searching for it to be proven ever since! Good to hear it has worked out in 2 trucks for you! This saves big bucks on having to update to cp3 swap prematurely!
I'm about to hit 400k on my 2011 with the original CP4. I run Hot Shot's EDT in every tank (winter defense for the WI winters). This is one of the more pressing things I worry about on my truck. A lift pump and this valve are high on my list of upgrades.
Hey drew, just hopped into a 2011 lml with 162, I have been lucky to find you and recently swapped my urea sending unit to fix my P205b code. Needless to say you’ve helped me a lot! This truck has 170 so I was wondering what this owner did and what I should do in order to save myself potential thousands?? Thanks again for all your videos keep ‘em coming
Recently I installed a exergy fuel metering valve. When the cp4 fails , it wont allow the metal to get into the high side of the fuel system ( injectors and rails). Pretty much just have to replace the cp4 , fuel filter , flush the fuel lines from tank to cp4 and clean the fuel tank. This truck has 170k miles when the pump failed. Here is a video on the installation (ironically the same truck). ruclips.net/video/prMJDlCUCdI/видео.html
I have this Exergy system saver inlet metering valve in my LML. No problems yet. You mention the tank and lines you would have to clean with the fuel filter but if you had a lift pump also like a fass or AirDog would you also need to clean out the lift pump and filters on the lift pump as well? Thanks.
I have a low mileage lml. Curious what the diff in price is... cp3 conversion VS exergy valve + cp4 failure (at some point) and cleaning the fuel lines and tank... Wouldn't it be cheaper to just install the CP3 from the get go and not have to mess with it twice?
Was actually curious if the exergy really worked? Also do you use fuel additive? From what I can gather in forums its basically garbage low grade diesel in the US that cause these pumps to fail. Figure I pass on the exergy and put the money towards an airdog.
I believe if you are running a cp4 the exergy valve is a great idea. Nothing else will protect the high side of the fuel system when the pump fails. I have a lml right now that the pump failed at 118k miles. The airdog should help but it won’t help the lubricity of the fuel, which seems to be the cause of the failure. Ideally a cp3 conversion is the best idea before the failure begins. I’ve seen the valve save 2 high pressure systems, it just contaminated the cp4 and the fuel tank. Personally I have 2 diesel cars with the cp4 variant pump. I run hot shots edt (every day treatment) to help prolong the life of the pumps.
Well truthfully I don't know for sure. This is the second pump I've replaced with the exergy valve installed and the first one turned out fine. I actually just finished the truck today and it runs perfect. Will be a video soon of the cp4 replacement
@@nordicpride9708 both trucks are doing great, since this video I’ve installed about 5 more of these valves in Duramax’s and Powerstrokes with no issues. My father actually bought one of the trucks from the customer so we’ll know for sure how they hold up.
@@drewsshoplife Hey great follow up! That’s amazing to hear. I’m contemplating a CP3 swap in my 2011 LML but also could just install this and let it ride. It’s a big job doing the swap, which I can do, just not super excited about it

What's the cost of this job with the saver in place vs. the $10k without?

How do you know that nothing made it through the screen into the rails or injectors?
