Rhythm Figures And Counting - The Process And Getting Started

- Yes, I know, I talk about rhythm and counting all the time...
I do that because of 2 important reasons:
1 - Your rhythms are the single most important thing you have...
Blues is based around the blues scale, we all play the same handful of notes...
What makes it sound good (or not) is how you utilize rhythm...
And the variety within your rhythms.
2 - Most people I work with, both online and off, come from some sort of "self-taught" background...
Maybe it was a friend or a teacher back in the day...
Or just various RUclips videos over the last year or two (or three)...
But most of the folks I work with simply haven't had ANY sort of rhythm associated with their lessons.
In fact, other than my videos, when was the last time you watched a RUclips video where the beat was counted out?
There is simply no other instrument on the planet that does that... every piano, horn, and string player learns using traditional musical notation, and that means they have to understand and count rhythms.
Today, my mission takes a dramatic leap forward...
My mission is to get everyone counting...
Until you don't have to count any more (If you don't get that joke, it's okay... just know that I want you to have killer control of rhythm and timing.)
To that end I have worked almost exclusively over the last several months on something I call "rhythm figures..."
And that work has paid off with a new workshop course called Rhythm Figures For Blues Lead Guitar!
There is simply nothing like it anywhere that I've ever seen, and it will change your life... no, I'm not kidding.
You can learn more about this new workshop and grab it at a discount this week because it's brand new here:
bluesguitarunl...
But you may want to learn more about rhythm figures and how they will help you...
So I put together this video to walk you through the process of how to use the workshop...
Along with some downloads so you can try it for yourself first and prove to yourself that this is really going to change how you approach all music, forever.
And the downloads (including this video) are all here:
bluesguitarunl...
This is a little longer than many of my videos, about 30 minutes... but very much worth your time.
So please, at least give this a try...
All you have to do is "do what I do and say what I say," in the video 🙂 - Развлечения
Man we need more stuff like this one, please keep it coming, make it a series.
Thank you for your time & effort.
Wow Griff!!! I'm really impressed, I've been looking to improve the rhythm since I started playing in 2017, many videos watched so far, but never found something so effective practical, I noticed how improved immediately and I really like your proposal and how you have organized it, I decided to buy your rhythm course just now! Thank you so much for helping us improve, best wishes!!!!
Fantastic lesson! Thanks Griff
1 a u
Wow... Absolutely necessary and great lesson... Thank you!
Not as easy as it seems ! Specially starting on the up beat .
Why not 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & in a swing feel rather than the 1 + a 2 + a 3 + a 4 + a and never play the +?
Simply because, for a beginner, they won't know the middle count is missing. I want someone who is playing in a swing feel to know that they are really playing in triplets, but skipping the middle count. Then, later, when it comes time to actually play triplets, the counting is not an issue.
This is exactly what I've been missing and searching for 🙏
Yeah, thanks a lot, I always need to improve the groove!
You did a great Subject Rhythm and Counting is Core for music.
what are those 16 notes
Amazing. Exactly what I have been looking for. Playing over 20 years and have had some pretty frustrating times switching from rhythm to lead simultaneously just on feel alone. I'm hoping counting is the missing link for me. Thanks Griff.
Oh triplets
Is it not 1 e and u
Good to see you are back!
Just what I’ve been looking for and exactly what I need! Thanks😊
Bout time someone does a rhythm lesson. Seeing that it makes up half of music it's shocking at gets less attention than anything else! Can only beat the CAGED horse so much.
Very helpful. Thankyou ever so much Griff.
A harder thing for me personally has been landing chord tones on beat one of IV and V of the changes ....timing is everything...great lesson
Brilliant thank you....... That is the most helpful video I have seen for ages, love it
This is one area I need to work on badly , really appreciate this Griff, I am going to go over and over this video till I get it nailed down,
I wish I had you as a teacher. And tough this way.
Brilliant! Another top class lesson. Thanks Griff.👍
Thank you. Excellent class!
Easy blues beginner lesson that makes total sense
Why is the video so messed up
Thanks!! Just what I was needing.
Awesome
Great to see that Griff isn’t dead!
geesh this is so-so helpful
Excellent
Great video man!!!!
Great great job !
yesterday I learned (while reading "Eruption"), that Eddie Van Halen couldn't/didn't count.
of course, while my name is Ed, it's not "Edward", let alone Edward Van Halen, so I am going to keep working on this fundamental. 😀
EVH started music at a young age playing classical piano, then played drums, then guitar. His innate inner clock was impressive, to say the least! Most folks just don't have that, I'm sorry to say.
@@bluesguitarunleashed I can't think of the example, but he talked about how much he relied on Alex to keep time for him and told a story where he played a solo for Al and his brother told him "it's not finished" and he said "no, that's the whole thing" and Alex said "it's only 8 bars"
You're back! 🙂
I never left :)
You are the only RUclipsr that talks about timing.
Thank you so much for exposing the elephant in the room, absolutely brilliant.
