Thank you so much for this vid. It has helped a lot, I certainly hope. 😊I recently bought two of the pro’s, but my aim is not deer it is coyote. In this last year I’ve grown to hate coyote, won’t go into details, but they are in my sights and with two Tactacam XPro trail cams and one big coyote trap they are dead already they just don’t know it yet…lol.
Additional question: To update the firmware, do you need to use a separate/different SD card in your computer or, do you use the SD card that came with the camera ? Thank you great info !
Best Review, Setup, Installation video I've seen for a trail cam so far. I do not agree it should have been 50% shorter. In fact, I would love to see a more detailed settings video going through all the various settings in detail and why!
Thank you for the suggestion. I am getting ready to film a couple other Tactacam videos, and I think I’m going to use your suggestion and go through the settings. Thanks for watching.
I purchased the solar battery from the link along with the adapters. The adapter doesn't stay in the camera. It falls out due to the weight of the cord. Is it possible they changed the style of adapter?
Some adapters need a small portion of the hard black rubber cut away to make it fit better. Use a knife and cut small “donuts” off the insulator until it fits better. Another tip: get some Dielectric Grease from your local auto parts store and put it on the connector and adapter, and also any battery contacts in your cameras. It will help to reduce the chance of corrosion if moisture gets into the camera.
Yes, that is how long it’s been since it’s last check-in. I have my cameras set to check-in twice a day, if that number goes above 12 hours, I know there’s a problem with my camera.
I bought 2 x-pros. The first one didn't come with a sim card and the second one only had a Verizon Sim card(I use AT&T). I bought the 32 GB reveal SD cards. Long story short..I got all the correct cards and my cams still don't work😂. It's been just a little frustrating.
The X Pro's I have have a bug in the Programming of the cameras. I have the all hooked up to their solarpanels and have their lithium cartridge in all of them. Every day they revert back either to show alkaline batteries or AA lithium batteries from the selected cartridge lithium I have entered. Been going back and forth with their support to no avail. I like my Tactacam XB and Gen 2 cameras better. Also the solar panel does not charge the lithium cartridge or lithium batteries. The panal will power your camera until it's batteries run low then the camera will switch over to the internal lithium cartridge or batteries to run the camera. I also made the mistake o thinking the solar panel actually charged the battery in the camera.
the solar panel will only charge its own battery, but if you do some research on solar panels, they have to be exposed to DIRECT sunlight ALL DAY. they cant be under tree canopy. tough to make them work properly in the woods
@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors I have built my own solar panel setup for my house so I am very familiar with the technology. The lithium cartridge could easily be charged by a properly placed true solar panel. All depends on the amount of solar getting to the panel. To bad so many people have the misconception that that is what happens with the Tactacam setup when it does not charge the camera battery at all.
@@dannyparker7193 it will, IF you have direct sunlight on it all day long, AND your settings are adjusted , AND you dont have so much action that the solar panel can not keep up. there are just too many "if's" for me, i prefer an external battery
@@Horn_n_Fin_OutdoorsOh really? I was watching another video of someone walking through the app and it only had photo - or - video. You'll be sorry if you go to spy point. I've tried three different ones Over the years and my most recent one just this last month, they are absolutely terrible
i couldnt agree more. im a former spypoint user. was lured in by the cheap prices and free plan, but the headaches were not worth it. switched to tactacam about 3 years ago and havent looked back. im in some spypoint groups, and by the looks of things, all the same problems still exist
Great video. I have received this camera without the owners manual in the box. I called the company but they aren't sure if they have a spare to send me. Would you by chance have a extra you could part with since you have a few of the same type ? Thanks for a great review ! Please do a review after you have them up for a while and, do you ever have any issues with Ants ? Thanks again. Subscribed to your channel for more great reviews.
I do not have an extra manual, but I believe they are available on the companies website under the support tab. I have heard about people having problems with ants, fortunately have not had that issue, so I don’t know how to solve the problem. I have had my cameras now for about two years, and they still are working great. I just purchased some of their new 3.0 cameras, and I am just as happy with them. i have 1 x pro with the unlimited photo plan would like to add a 2nd camera with the basic photo plan but the only option i can pick is that Unlimited plan. how do i choose the basic plan for my 2nd x pro cell camera?? Thank you
you can not. all cameras have to be on the same plan.... HOWEVER, keep in mind that ALL your cameras share the TOTAL number of pics each month. so, it might be possible to downgrade from the unlimited and have both cameras share.
Great video good info. I’m a new subscriber. Was doing research on the tactacam. Camera. Can you send me a link to where you bought the battery adapter that connects into camera. Thank you.

When you set the camera for pictures is the green light always have to be on or not on. I set it up the green light came on but few minutes later went off. I went back and reset password over and over. Not sure what is the right way to set up for to taking pictures when people walk by.
All lights will be off. If you want to test the camera, turn it off, go into your app and set it for immediate transmission and no delay, turn the camera on, and when the lights go off, start moving in front of it. It will start sending pics. Then once you are sure it is working properly you can go into your app and adjust the settings as you want.
HI best Tactacam information hands down, thanks for taking the time. Question is if i get the 12volt battery case with solar panel do i need any battery in the camera? And is the solar panel detatchable to extend it out away from the box? Thank you...
thanks for the input, and thanks for watching! no, you do not need batteries in your camera is you run this solar panel, and yes, the solar panel on the box is completely adjustable. hope that helps, good luck this season!
MY question about the solar pannel on the box is the cord long enough that you can detach it from the box to get it in better position for the sun and not have to move the box. @@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors
if you don't mind me asking what is the about cost of the plans. is it based on the amount of pictures it sends monthly or is it a flat rate. I am thinking about 1 cam for now. Thanks
Hi Ron! The plans range from $6-$12 depending on the amount of pics you want. The good thing is, if you have multiple cams, they share the pics. Also, if you are expecting low activity, you can choose the cheaper plan, and upgrade as necessary. If you set up over a feeder, expect a LOT of pics….. deer, coons, squirrels, birds. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribed too!
YES, that is the new way they are doing things. that just changed since i made this video. that SIM card has BOTH att and verizon on it, and you will get to chose which network you want during the set up of the camera. thanks for watching!
