I just bought the Tactacam 3.0 Pro. It came without meaningful instructions for setup and operation. I looked at many less than helpful clips on RUclips until I came upon yours. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You have put together the best how to video for this product. You really put in the time and effort to make a comprehensive video for us, thanks for what you do!
Thanks for the time and effort it took to make such a comprehensive video. At 36:20 you mention the “On Demand” photo and video function. It should be noted that it is an additional charge. At least on the Starter plan it asks me to add the “Xtra Plan”. It appears from their verbiage that it (Xtra) then applies to all cameras on the account.
Thank for watching and dropping this comment. Yes, it’s something that I missed when I made the video. I’ve got the xtra plan already so sometimes I forget that some of the features aren’t activated without the xtra plan
Good video Bill! A lot of great details & instruction! I still have my TACTACAM 2.0 in the box unopened from last year! So my goal this year is to set it up! I’d love to see the racks of your whitetail trophies!
Excellent review! Very detailed and organized. I have a question that I have not seen addressed. Some of my areas are sensitive areas that I do not want to intrude on after summer. Is it possible to set the camera up in the woods and turn it on via the app at a later date? Or is there a way to block or minimize use for a month or two and change settings when I'm ready to use in order to save battery usage? I would like to set them up summertime but not use until the fall without having to change batteries. I prefer not to use any solar charging since I'm on public and do not want to add any more visual clues to others. Thank you!
thank you for watching! you can not do EXACTLY what you are looking for. there is no way to turn the camera off and on remotely. HOWEVER, if you want to put the camera out in the summer and not have it take pics, you can adjust the work timer so the camera is only "active" for a very short time each day. you will also want to minimize all your settings to conserve battery life. but, if you want to keep the camera out there for months on end, i would recommend the HME external battery. you can set it on the ground beneath the camera and cover it with leaves or something to make it discreate. good luck!
Very informative, thank you! One question though, you explained the use of the left arrow button and maybe I missed it in the vid but what are the other arrow buttons used for?
Quick question. On the power cord adapter to connect the HME battery pack, the adapter fits a little loose in the Pro 3.0 camera. Any suggestions on how to make it a little more snug? It feels as of it will slip out.
I had to use wire strippers to trim the rubber down on the adapter jack. Mine did not fit at all and kept falling out of the camera until I did that now it fits well.
I use the Duracell batteries that were next to what you bought and they typically last two seasons and then I replace them and use the old ones in my clocks.
You enter your credit card information on Tactacam website, and they automatically bill you monthly or annually (depending on which choice you select).
thanks for watching my videos! my honest opinion, i LOVE the tactacam. if i had to rate all 3 brands i use from favorite to least favorite, it would be Tactacam, Moultrie, and WAY last is Spypoint.
I plan to add a brand new from the package Tactacam 32 gig sd card to my new 3.0 pro on initial setup. Does the new card need to be formatted? If yes, where do you format it?
It’s always advisable to format your SD card before you put it into the camera. You can format it in your computer. You can also format it in the camera, you turn the camera on, use the camera screen and buttons to go into the settings, and there is a menu option to format the card.
This camera will pick up the strongest signal. Yes, compatible with ATT. You do not need a SD card. There is internal memory. Camera is great! amzn.to/3yEfaW5
So I have a question if you have a lithium battery pack in the can and also are using the solar panel will it just automatically switch over when the battery in the Cam dies
The solar panel will take precedence and power the camera first. Once the solar battery dies, then any battery you have inside the camera will take over.
I just bought two pro 3.0 that will be here tomorrow. My biggest concern is where i hunt there is very little cell singnal . Is this going to cause me a hassle at start up ? If they dont send pics i can live with that i guess.
Yes, it could. Usually the biggest problem is that the camera will continually search for a cell signal (just like your phone does), and it will drain the batteries faster. I recommend using an external power source. amzn.to/4dWeudm
How do I use the map icon on the app? Got my camera and plan setup.Everytime I hit the map button it just shows where my phone is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
sometimes it takes up to 24 hrs for your GPS position to update. If it does not, try turning the camer off and on again and it should update. I just put a camera out today in SC, and the GPS was right on the money
