Hi James, 10 months ago, when I was training for my first marathon, I stumbled upon your account. Now, as a one time marathoner (3h40) and one time ultra maratoner (50km), I can say that your account was a real inspiration for me. I like your down-to-earth and modest approach. Keep up the good work!
Congrats on the PB James. I remember at Goodwood you were running on your own for most of it. Did you feel having a more people around this time helped? Happy training for the next one.
Thanks Brioni! Yeah, it made a massive different always running with others. Quite often I would just sit in behind a group of runners and try to switch off.
Well done James fantastic stuff! I’m heading off to try the London 2 Brighton 100k in 10 or 11 days. Much, much further than I’ve ever done before. I’m excited but also nervous. I’ve learned a lot about ultras from your channel, so thank you 👍
💪🏃🏅BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO James!!!🏅🏃💪 Awesome PB!!! It's my DREAM to one day break 3h20, but first I've still gotta break 3h30!!😁 The science keeps showing us that Time On Feet and Consistency are by far the most important factors for us regular runners ... that's what I live by and I keep getting better and better!!! Me too being pretty dedicated to trails, it's so nice to get out on the road and throw down an all-in marathon a couple of times a year... it's such an awesome feeling (once we cross the line that is!😂😁)
Thanks Kristoffer! Completely different pain. I would say the marathon is significantly more painful but for a much shorter period. The 100 miler was more draining and exhausting than intensely painful. After the marathon, I hobbled off and couldn't walk very well but I was generally okay. I did like 10,000 steps walking around Copenhagen after the marathon. After the 100 miler, I sat in a chair for a few hours and I was physically exhausted for at least 24 hours.
Well done James, that's a fantastic result! There's nothing like a big city marathon, especially abroad and it sounds like you had a great experience. Are there any other marathon's on your radar? Or will you be focusing on ultras again for now?
Thanks Paul! I hope your training is going well! This year I've got Ultravasan 90k in August and Kullamannen 100 miler in November but I want to build for another fast marathon in spring 2025. My training for the next 12 months will probably focus primarily on the marathon fitness despite running ultras. Are you training for anything?
@@jamesday1 Sounds like an exciting year ahead for you and a good plan ahead of next years marathon - you'll have a great base for 2025 after the 100 miler! For me, a few shorter races over the summer, and then Berlin Marathon in September.
Hi James. Did you really have Lyme disease? I've heard that can be really awful, leaving you with no energy for long periods of time. Glad to hear you recovered quickly. Congrats on a great race! 👍🏻🏃♂️
Thanks Mark! Yeah according to the doctors. I'm on a second round of antibiotics for it. I definitely think it contributed to my energy going into the marathon but haven't felt that low energy in a while now.

Well done James. I’m super pleased for you. All the hard work is playing off.
Thanks! It's always nice when a race comes together. I hope you're training is going well!

So great to hear your success! Well done! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks Nancy!
Stellar!! Congrats!
Thanks Kathleen!
GL on Ultravasan, hopefully i can expect a video on that? Im bound by swedish tradition to do it so it would be nice to see you do it :)
Hopefully I'll see you there Tom! I'll definitely be taking the GoPro with me on Ultravasan. Looking forward to it!
Nicely done, James!
Thanks Jess!

Thanks Bev! I'm surely you'll smash sub3:20 in no time!
fabulous result.
Thanks!
Well done James! Congrats on the pb! I'm curious how you'd compare the feeling of the last 5k of the marathon to the physical pain of the 100 miler?

You seem like such a decent lad and I'm really chuffed for you
Thanks Steve!
Nice job james! What t-shirt are you wearing in this haha I like the fit
Thanks! Good question, it was a gift from my sister. Let me have a look at get back to you.
The t-shirt was Finisterre.
@@jamesday1 hey thanks!

@@paulvymeris425 Nice! Good luck with Berlin! I would love to run it at some point. A friend of mine runs it every year and loves it.

Thanks Zack!
well done James
Thanks!
Great result. Been to Fleisch yet? assuming you eat meat 😬
Thanks! I eat meat but didn't get a chance to visit Fleisch. I'll definitely be back to Copenhagen though and it's on my to-do list to visit!
