As a German, king of queens used to run on German tv channels a lot when I was kid. It was all dubbed into German and would rerun endlessly, that's why it is very popular.
yup I buy my beer at the mom and pop liquor store ran by this one family. instead of a gas station like shell. a little pricier but worth it. they also sell 1$ ipa's grab a few of those too on top of the tall cans I get. cheers!

that show has been always on TV since they started to show it Germany. it's pretty harmless and simple, so it translates well and people can relate to it. and germans are really into Americana. it's not even close to what the states are like. it's like the stereotype Americans have of Germany. you know, huge beer mugs, Lederhosen and so on. like the whole country is like Munich during Oktoberfest.
This channel does an excellent job of capturing the emotional connection between these places, the food they make, the people that make it and the community that consumes it.

This place always holds a special place in my heart, my grandpa would take me there when I came to visit ny every summer as a kid (ironically from Germany but not why I knew about it). Over the years our relationship got more and more strained we stopped meeting and he passed two years ago. I kinda wish I had been able to put all the issues aside and get an lemon ice one last time, but for now everytime I see the place or think of it I think of the better times with him.

I think this is a great example of how you preserve the legacy of a place even if it means selling outside the family. A lot of old time places near me just close when they can’t find a direct family member to take over so it’s lovely to see an alternative that keeps the business alive and continues the legacy (with a fresh face in charge).

The slight change in his voice/cadence when talking about the old owner. You can tell the two men had a close relationship and he takes great pride in continuing the legacy. What a great feeling though, to have the man who taught you all you knew believe in you to keep his name and business intact.

This place brings back so many childhood memories, I remember going there in the 80’s and 90’s, that was a threat for us. I now live in Illinois but when doing a tour of NY this is a must stop

VillaRosa in my town italian ices for 10 cents, loved it then once a week the man would go where my grandma worked and bring fresh loaves of bread she always came home. with one! What ever got hard was put in a paper bag and saved for stuffing! So grateful that she taught me i didnt have to buy bread crumbs or cubes, for our recipes. 🎉❤😊

This channel is so good, so different of what people make nowadays, so much better and chill, with a focus on the people and theirs stories, your content is an example of how things can be better!
I remember being a little kid in the 80’s, and there was a neighbor, little old lady, who sold huckabucks. If you don’t know, it’s basically kool aid in a small styrofoam cup, that’s been frozen. She’d sit on her porch and sell them for a quarter in summer. Turning the corner to her house and seeing her sitting there with that cooler, was like Christmas! One of my favorite childhood memories.
Imagine your first job being your only job. Think about that. You show up to work as a 15 year old kid having no idea that this is what you’ll be doing forever. Doesn’t get more charming than that
Pure Americana culture right here. Continuing a small mom and pop shop tradition for nearly a century. Reminds me of a place in my home state CT. A little shack off the side of the road called Harry’s place in colchester CT. Been running every season since 1914 and it was a definite stop on the way to and from the beach when I was growing up.
I absolutely love to see this man carrying on this business. So many old shops kn mt area have closed down, or been totally revamped into something else once rhe original owner dies or grows too old to care for the business. It always makes me sad because someone dedicated their life to a place, just for someone else to eventually come along and tear it down.

I remember being a little kid in the 80’s, and there was a neighbor, little old lady, who sold huckabucks. If you don’t know, it’s basically kool aid in a small styrofoam cup, that’s been frozen. She’d sit on her porch and sell them for a quarter in summer. Turning the corner to her house and seeing her sitting there with that cooler, was like Christmas! One of my favorite childhood memories.

Pure Americana culture right here. Continuing a small mom and pop shop tradition for nearly a century. Reminds me of a place in my home state CT. A little shack off the side of the road called Harry’s place in colchester CT. Been running every season since 1914 and it was a definite stop on the way to and from the beach when I was growing up.

I absolutely love to see this man carrying on this business. So many old shops kn mt area have closed down, or been totally revamped into something else once rhe original owner dies or grows too old to care for the business. It always makes me sad because someone dedicated their life to a place, just for someone else to eventually come along and tear it down.
This is a CLASS guy! Lifetime employee, then owner, and keeps the original owner's legacy going! NOT A SINGLE SELFISH BONE IN THIS GUY!
