    For those of you who are wondering, if you are using OPL (Open PS2 Loader) you don't need the network adaptor disc. OPL has it's own network settings.

      ✋️✏️📌 I'm curious as well as since the official PS2 online games spreadsheet shows _Phantasy Star Universe_ [the original], _Ambition of the Illuminus_ and _Premiere_ disc not yet documented as to whether or not they have the network configuration utility included on the game disc.... Noteworthy: Unfortunately, none of the PS2 Phantasy Star are playable on any fan servers.

      I'm curious : do you have to first start a game and when going to make a connection at the network settings screen prior to connecting, did you select a [LAN] network setting and not, for instance, a fan server DNS Network address setting or possibly tell the game to automatically login - skipping the network setting screen's menu - and your PS2 is attempting to log into, say, a fan server DNS address instead of the required LAN/XLink Kai network settings?

    This is a bit of a tangent from the LAN multiplayer but likely relevant to anybody as it pertains to memory card space.... I want to enjoy the online MP via resurrected servers but, in the case of SOCOMs 3 and Combined Assault, there is a required 3M update, each, to your memory card... Is there a version of OPL that supports virtual memory cards for all if not most online titles including the SOCOMs? 3M each is alot of MC expense simply from SOCOMs 3 and C.A. and I'm not even sure if the first one and II also may require updates before one can connect to online multiplayer. SOCOM 3 & C.A. req.d updates already would consume ¾ of a physical MC....

      To understand your points of reference, what extra stuff are you referring to and what were the methods you were referencing regarding what worked for you to connect on PSP? Also, is this in the vein of the SOCOMs on PSP gaming or is it or more generalized?

      @@takumiinthe86 ,
      Specifically, what's the differentiation/ comparison regarding the [extra stuff?] that you want to cite regarding setup requirements for LAN-tunneling via XLink Kai on PSP vs. PS2? The only extra hardware I see required for PS2 XLink Kai is an ethernet cable and, in the case of where the network adapter is needed, there is that hardware prerequisite for the original form-factor PS2 models. Otherwise, to my understanding, there isn't a whole lot of difference after xlink Kai has been set up once already for respective hardware unless you're referring to the PS2 games' online / LAN network settings.... Once the [LAN-tunneling has been created] for PS2, it's just a matter of selecting a [LAN] network connection setting instead of [a fan server] network IP setting. If you watch online gaming videos that show the log-on process for regular online-MP to other players on resurrected fan servers, you'll see the same screen pop-up typically for almost all of the PS2 games - where you are given an option to select one of typically four Network setting configuration files. There are a handful of games that have specific DNS address settings, the majority of the rest of the games can log via one or two - only need to have whichever one satisfies most of the rest of the titles - and then, for XLink Kai and local ethernet system-linking, have a connection setting saved to the Netfile for LAN connecting. When going to connect the other players when logging on with your PS2, the usual screen will pop up and you'll simply scroll to whichever connection is needed and press X

    • @takumiinthe86
      @takumiinthe86 Год назад +1

      @Just 2 Options?...Irrational: Fear or Exuberance? nah the psp I didn't set anything up literally just flipped the switches on top created lobby and joined. Idk if the ps2 is capable of that or the only way is with extra hardware?

      have the ps2 connected to the computer/laptop/mac with the ethernet cable > open xlink kai > turn on ps2 and wait a moment. there is a tabe called METRICS on xlink, select it and scrol down to where it detects devices. if no playstation console is detected try running a LAN compatible game and search/start a server and check METRICS again if it detects ps2
