This was one hell of an engagement! The way you described the intro, with the Enterprise and Colorado moving in to engage a Japanese Carrier and Battleship, i knew this was gonna be one Epic battle!
The Kongo class are basically still battlecruisers. The armor upgrade they got wasn't enough to even adequately protect against what _cruisers_ were firing at the time and whenever they went up against something that could actually land hits on them (they _were_ rather quick for their size) they suffered badly.

Christmas came early! A second episode in 2 days! And at the cost of one DD and 7 aircraft, you sank almost the entire fleet! I'd take that any day. Thanks for the bonus butt-kicking video. I needed it today!

I would not call the successful blockade of Guadalcanal by two surface task forces and the sinking of...twelve? I think? Destroyers a winning position.
2 fights in this LP have really grabbed me. The very first surface action in this LP (where you lost 3 destroyers sunk) along with this fight where Kongo is sunk. Really tough surface fights, totally re-creating the desperate fights IRL.
A battleship and a Light carrier in one battle, now that's a pretty good haul if ever I seen one. After that effort I think you earned yourself another Task Force, maybe even a speedy North Carolina to back up the Colorado.
Great battle Wolfpack, I really enjoyed watching it. Ammo managment in a heavy engagement like that can be pretty challenging. Especially when you start taking damage. Conservation tends to fly out the window in favor of survival.
Loved the video @Wolfpack345! Can't wait for the next video man! Nice to see you gun down the *Zuiho* in the Game man LMAO! Now all you need to worry about is 1 Shokaku-class Carrier, 1 Hiyo-class Light Fleet Carrier, 1 Shoho-class Light Carrier and the Ryujo.
I hope you're getting a kickback, cuz you're an amazing salesman. I picked this game up (and the mod) because of you. Loving every second of playing it.
What happened to Colorado in this fight is what happened to South Dakota in the 15 November 1942 battle at Guadalcanal. Her upper works were shredded by Japanese small caliber fire, and one hit on turret 3 by Kirishima. They rendered her combat ineffective without sinking her.
tbf irl, most naval commanders would have called off a landing if it was confirmed that a large enemy surface force was inbound, the only reason one wouldnt in this game is because landing troops/supplies is instantaneous unlike irl
31:43 That's a Chitose-class CVL, not a Taiyo-class CVE. Pretty inaccurate too, seeing as how the Chitose-class seaplane carriers didn't even begin conversion to CVLs until January 1943, and they didn't reenter service until December of that year.
WOW everything you could want in a battle - okay we didn't have search lights but what a battle - few p38s but they have 20 mm cannons and can do more damage than the .50 cal on the fighters. They have sunk merchant ships by themselves in my little TTE.
I must agree with the consensus of pretty much everybody else...The Colorado is only fast matched up with a sailboat and the Kongo must of had battleship sized floaties. Damage ultra-critical and flooding ridiculously critical. Heck it took more hits than a speed bag in boxing!
it is just a hypothesis but i think the kongo class battleship was the same that attack Australia or the airport next to Australia. The AI did not get it repaired and just brushed off the damage it has taken from the previous air raids. That is why it was easily taken out of the battle. Correct me if i am wrong.
'...including USS Colorado were closing in fast' Probably the first time a Standard battleship was ever, even accidentally, described as fast.
