I'm a South Korean. Even many of South Korean people have still worshiped North Korean regime for decades since first Kim (Kim Il-Sung) to his grand son, Kim Jung-Eun. Most of the big guns in the major political party (left) and the other minor radical parties (far-lefts) were extremely close to NK since they were early 20's in college. Recently some spies connected with (directed from) NK got sentenced to years in SK. Last SK President Moon Jae-In was nothing but a puppet of NK and China. He did lots of things to be but still many people doesn't care because they were educated and brainwashed that way by school, left-leaning media and many propaganda movies & TV shows. Crazy but it's true.

Living in Germany, with its special history, I witnessed what happened here during Covid.
Governments need to be controlled by the citizens much more active than we have done so in the West.

But I wouldn't lie about that. The rest of the world is so much different in comparison. We really have itmade here. People openly get on social media and talk bad about the government daily and it's just free speech here. That stuff will get you killed in other countries.

As a daughter of a woman who is both North and South Korean I have heard so many stories. My mother passed away when I was only 17, but I recall the fear in her voice and tears that were shed on a constant basis. Sadly I discredited her memories and often viewed her as someone that was simply exaggerating. Truth is, this was beyond my comprehension. Therefore, I disregarded it, “out of sight, out of mind”. This breaks my heart on a whole other level and I am truly embarrassed for allowing my ignorance for so long. Unfortunately, it’s too late for her to feel believed by someone who meant the most to her. I just wish I could hug her.

Trust me, horrible things happen to people around the world on a minute-by-minute basis. If you really want to honor your late mother, why don't you get involved in helping victims of heinous crimes. Become a doctor and dedicate yourself to helping others around the world thru Doctors Without Borders. Start an organization that helps and assists refugees from North Korea seeking freedom and a new life in another nation. Use your "embarrassment" to make a difference for the better in this world. Don't wish for something that you can't have, actually do something that honors her memory that makes a difference.

Please understand that our "freedom" comes at the expense of people in the developing world, including North Korea. In the late 19th century and at the turn of the 20th century in the U.S., industrial robber barons and bankers were making violent war (i.e. Haymaket massacre) on American workers, murderously putting down labor strikes with the assistance of private "security" firms like "Pinkerton" and the U.S. military. U.S. laborers were encouraged by mal-treatment at the hands of their employers and the social programs enacted in Germany beginning in 1881 (child labor laws, healthcare, accident insurance, wage protections, old age insurance (see Wikipedia: State Socialism (Germany) [ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Socialism_(Germany) ]) one of a handful of reasons the monied-class in the U.S. and U.K. were hot to make war on Germany and bring about WWI. U.S. legislators did as they do now, bring immigrant labor into the country to undermine the salaries of citizen laborers. Italian, Irish, and Chinese immigrants were brought in, put on rail cars and delivered to work camps.
What saved average Americans from the same fate which Ms. Park's countrymen suffer was the U.S.'s decision to undertake colonialism beginning with its war against Spain in 1898 and exploit a foreign population, rather than the domestic population - this is bred into the American "freedom" pathology. Ask the Philippinos what U.S. "liberation" from Spanish colonial rule meant for their freedom at the hands of a U.S. military fresh from their genocidal war against the American Indigenous population.
The North Korean cage of tyranny might evaporate over time if the U.S. would consider ending the war with North Korea and lifting sanctions? Ms. Park and her fellow countrymen are just as much victims of the neurotic-totalitarian North Korean regime maintained by ongoing threat of foreign subversion, as they are victims of psychopathic U.S. foreign policy.

One thing that really blew my mind was when she talked about how it exhausted her to have to plan what to do, once she became free, because she never had to plan anything in NK, because she couldn't. Being born free, it is hard to imagine living under that kind of total control. Joe, this was one of the best interviews you, or anyone else has done, in my opinion. I sure hope this young lady gets more air time in the future. This really needs to be seen and heard, especially by those who are bad-mouthing our country and the Constitution.

English is their second language, they say stuff that often doesn't make sense but they all basically tell the same stories. Also served in the military and got to travel around the world. I've seen countries and how bad they can be. If you don't believe her, let her be. She's no doubt experienced horrible things as most defectors have. I'm a decorated combat vet and I no longer tell people I was in the military because instead of listening to your stories, the first thing they want to do is try to cherry pick them. People like that don't deserve to hear my story. I used to have a growing RUclips channel back on RUclips started up. It was getting popular. However, the world is so full of idiots that you can't tell your story and share it with the world. Very sad. I deleted my channel, gave away all my military awards I just don't talk about it.

because she is trained that way. Honestly what she is doing isn't wrong, but she is a propped actor for nato and a PR tool against North korea propaganda, but her story has so many holes and things that are so unreal... Like she hiked across the desert from north korea to Mongolia at night during winter? It is -50 to -80 there. Most American cant find that place on a map and she takes advantage of that. She tell her escape story that even navy seals couldn't do on their own, but a starved unhealthy north Korean girl did? Come on... Koreans are known for making things up. North or south doesn't matter they lie and make shit up all the time and make them selves look better then everyone else.... Once you pick that up about their culture... I mean it goes back to Perry... Koreans sunk an american explore/battle ship and killled on the Korean shores call the sailors who sought help over a 100 years ago... The fed government sent ships looking for them and there was wreckage and proof and they lied about not knowing anything about it and even made stuff up. Just llo at who she is married too and that korean show she was on and the NGO that aims are countering north korean propaganda and mission is to discredit north korea. I think it was a vice or BBC doc. What she is paid to say is neither true or untrue. It's just propaganda. I honest I don't care for propagandists any way they work.. Propaganda is dangerous. Instead of her I rather have a honest convo about north korea and what trump did was better then just doing this combative stuff which only drags us into conflict in the long run and war is just so stupid now that we could end up making one mistake and destroy our selves... Just look at Libya and what happened to Europe right afterwards. Now Europe is like a second north Africa. These wars are causing all the is chaos we see in our world. She is the same type propagandist tool that got us in war in Iraq twice funded by the same people too. propaganda leads to more bad outcomes, but the only people who benefit from it is the 1%. Just be careful and don't buy into it.

Think about is, she said North Koreans are so hungry that there are bodies floating in the river, which is laughable in itself, why would there be bodies floating in the river? If North Koreans are so emaciated to the point that you can see their organs, how exactly are they pushing a train across the country?? A team of bodybuilders couldn’t do that. Most people are bored and their feelings are equal to their environment. Choosing to feel love isn’t something most people will consider until they know the opposite, but it is a practice to hardwire “love” in the brain every day and taking the time to connect to that feeling.

It doesn't really make sense though. Also I just watched a nearly 3 hour presentation on NK, they know... especially border-region populations. When you literally have to put on a show like you're having fun at a carnival whenever "tourists" show up (at a park you aren't allowed to even see otherwise) there's no way it doesn't at least cross your mind. Not like they can do anything about it though...
