Thousands have enjoyed your restorations over the years. It's always awesome to come back to these after being there since almost the beginning. Thank you!
Man, this was so much fun to help work on during your streams. Even if we (i.e. Everyone in the chat) got pretty nitpicky quite often, the end result is something I’m sure that everyone is going to be happy with. THAT SAID! If I can make a suggestion, I think it would be kinda cool if you slightly extended the ending a bit. By that, I mean try to do it like how the arranged version of “DK Island Swing”, “Jungle Groove”, did it by having one more small section with the drums & chimes, but have the drums fade out so that all the song ends with is the chimes. This was a suggestion that was said during the stream chat, but I would like to see it incorporated here. Perhaps as a separate, bonus track? Like have that, but also incorporate the added bird chirping in the beginning of the DK Jamz version of the track, and release that as a separate track. Would be interesting to hear.
Is that humming at the beginning really the original sample? It's a little high-pitched and grating compared to the original... The rest of this updated restoration sounds great, though.
The instrumentation is good, but unfortunately the cymbals (high hat?) starting at 0:28 are supposed to swing I think. You have them in straight 8ths. The 8th note swing is basically like 8th triplet notes but you skip one hit every 3 notes. It’s important to the song that the cymbals swing.
StrumDynasty Gaming No, they are there. It just sounds like it isn’t because the other instruments drown the percussion out a bit. But if you look at the original song, and isolate the cymbals, you’ll find that they do match how the song sounds here.
Sacha Vaillancourt I understand. Well, that might be the case, but that would just mean that Sam did not do a good job of making it sound like the original. If it sounds like the cymbals are swinging in the original, it should sound like that here too.
I know I'm necroposting here, but you're right. It sounds like the Hi-hat/cymbal is being played more often in that section in the original. Sam still did an extremely good job at rebuilding the song, though.
That quick cut to the trombone guy😆

"No, the REAL DK Island Swing..."
"Perfection."
Great restoration! I grew up with these games, and it always pleases me to see how much others love them.

I personally prefer your previous restoration of this track better.
But for the sake of this track. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Fun fact: While developing the game, Rareware studied and observed Gorilla behavior at the Twycross Zoo to help them animate DK and Diddy.

I just checked with the original song, and nope, it’s straight 8ths there too.
Sacha Vaillancourt I don’t think they are

Nice! Where do I get these vst instruments?

Is the name of the song jungle japes? Or is it the stage name?
Jungle Japes is its name in DK64. This one is Jungle Groove, DK Island Swing, or Jungle Hijinx
0:39 What instrument is it?
keyboard strings
isn't the bass out of tune?
