Take out the ac control, take out the centre vent, take out the carrier, rethread the main cable from behind the ac control or there isn't room. Reverse to reinstall.
where can i buy this faceplate... ive been looking for this specific one but i cant seem to find it anywhere please someone post me link to it if you know where to get one
what mounts the head unit in the dash an keeps it from moving around, i got my kit today an the best i can tell is the faceplate just sets in that frame, i cannot see any way to mount it to the kit
Also, the basket for the aftermarket stereo can be installed neatly in the top Din position in the carrier first, then the whole thing inserted back into place, when you route the BMW wiring bundle with after-market adapter connected. Then just slide in the new radio as you plug in the few cables and connectors. Voila! The basket will lock the radio in place and it won’t be loose and flopping about in the hole. (This part may vary based on the kind of new head unit installed) worked beautifully for my KENWOOD and most I assume.
You always have to be grateful, but I give you a recommendation the next time you make a video, don't do it this way, the visual way was fatal and at the end of the day, you didn't finish building your car to see that everything would be fine.
You can buy steering wheel controls for most of their stuff but you have to do it separately or choose it when you make the original order. Just a heads up
I disagree. The factory cable bundle to the radio is too tightly wrapped and secured to the bulkhead to divert all the completed wiring behind the HVAC controls. It’s best to remove the 2-Din carrier, and then connect the aftermarket car radio adapter to the BMW wiring bundle connector and place all that tucked in behind the top back left corner of the 2-Din carrier in the back, feeding and tucking as you reinsert the carrier. The center air duct module should also be removed/taken out prior so you can have more hand-room to do this. You didn’t have trouble with the audio not working? The stereo turned on and everything but no sound was coming out, any idea what i might’ve missed or not plugged in? I believe i did everything right
Dude dude dude…..Im goona try, probably held in with clip I would imagine. Got this...I need to replace my wiring. Truck making a lot of noise oh well. Im pretty sure, and this should just pop out, uses flat head and breaks it. hope I could just, BANG like this, sets cam down. This wires kind of stupid, where did...oh its up here.. Let me guess your not really a garage and have no idea what your doing.. Figure it out first then focus (just a little) to make vid. Do yourself a favor go to youtube and see if they have a video on how to make a video. (a helpful vdeo) Best part of video was the dog sitting there laughing at you. Anyway don't mean to be so harsh but its funny af. put the oil burner down.
bruh you did the most important part off camera, we can all put the radio in but the wiring is what we here for...
Whats the point of making this if your not going to show the how part
its a how to video and puts the camera down 99% of the time 🤦🏻♀️
I like how your dog is supervising ...
Get yourself a tripod, your camera skills make me dizzy asf
I added more stress by using your trick and destroyed my ac vents trying to take it out. Why did you not record the most important step.
Thanks for the vent removal tip above the head unit. It worked well though even after removing the vent it was still a pain in the ars. LOL!
Where’d you get the radio and wires?
Were you able to get rid of the humming noise?

@@e36fanatics I'm not sure then, because this is the one I recently put in another e46 and it was the same as the one I did in the video.
Did this retain the volume up and down on wheel ?
You got Harmon kardon?
can you still control the radio via the steering wheel controls or is that a whole other thing?
How many aerial connections does this car have?

what mounts the head unit in the dash an keeps it from moving around, i got my kit today an the best i can tell is the faceplate just sets in that frame, i cannot see any way to mount it to the kit
I just pushed my head unit in the opening in the dash, then put the frame over it and bolted it down.

Where did you order the stereo with the connecting wires for e46 ? Do you mind putting the links to both or 1
www1.crutchfield.com/p_120708590/Metra-70-8590-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?tp=2977 and i got the stereo from someone I know
Auto zone has the whole kit for 25 bucks
Do you have to buy those wires you shows at 0:20
yes, because that allows you to hook you stereo to the adapter thing that comes from the oem radio.
Where did u buy the moulding thing that holds the head unit
crutch field
Quick question where did you buy the kit for the radio? And what kind of kit is it?

Does steering wheel control works?
No you need to buy an adapter for it
This could be a powerpoint presentation with pictures, less annoying, more helpful.
Quick question is it possible to put any type of radio in or has to be a certain brand
b3l3x ink sorry on the late response but any single din radio would work
Cute dog 🐕

Do your steering wheel controls still work? And it it working with your tweeters?
i dont think my tweeters still worked and i'll check about the steering wheel controls
Brandon Douglass the controls on the steering wheel do not work
You can buy steering wheel controls for most of their stuff but you have to do it separately or choose it when you make the original order. Just a heads up
You need another adapter same for the antenna
remove the hvac controls and tuck the adaptors in there. There is plenty of room behind the hvac controls.

How do u know if ur car has a factory amp
All 2000 BMW models bring an external amp..its in the rear trunk under the lining.
Putting the camera down didn't help at ALL!
Where did u get the radio from ?
RandomPs3 Trickshotter I just bought it off someone locally
Alpine is from Japan.
Did your car have a factory amp?
Eric Henriquez no
You didn’t have trouble with the audio not working? The stereo turned on and everything but no sound was coming out, any idea what i might’ve missed or not plugged in? I believe i did everything right
mhmm, sorry on the late response but try to mute/unmute it. Sometimes they come muted, if that doesn't work try testing your speakers.
its cool, the amp was actually the problem. thanks!
Emily Diaz I’m having the same problem do you know how to fix it ?
no idea! I bought another amp and it still didnt work. I don't know if the previous owner blew the sound system or if I just need an adaptor
Make sure your remote wire is connected to the blue on the adapter harness. That's your problem.
But you don't show how you connect it mos
huh?
heres a quick tip....use a damn gopro next time attached to your head hahahaha should be titled watch me set camera down every 20 seconds lol
How did you get the wiring done that’s all I need to get done
Isaiah Calvo I just soldered the wires from the adopter I got to the wires that come outta the back of the head unit
Clutchin' Garage yea I have no clue what that means 😂😂😂
Isaiah Calvo there’s certain wires that match up that you twist the wires together.
Clutchin' Garage okay well thanks I’ll try and figure it out
Isaiah Calvo let me know tomorrow if you got it. If not I’ll help you out, sorry I just been busy all day.
Wtf mans how you not record how to do the wires
