I really enjoy your commentary... the Plena will never be a lens I own... but your outlook on life mixed with photography is why I come back to your channel....
Thanks for the video! Perfect analysis and presentation of the Plena especially as a street photography lens!. Most videos obviously focus on the portrait photographer and people talking about 85 vs 135mm. Which is not really of interest to us amateur enthusiasts! This lens is a piece of art which produces unique pictures in B&W and with special colours and micro contrast. The price one pays is the weight and size, but this is manageable. The price is cheap when compared to modern Leica lenses (and this should be the benchmark), there is no vignetting, bokeh is special, sharpness is superb but it is still creamy, it has a controlled dreaminess-everything is special. This can be seen as one of the best pro lenses in the world, but I see it as a gift from Nikon to the amateur who is looking for a creative outlet. For the over 40year olds who know they do not want to compromises on anything-on family or documentary photos or street photography.
Glad I am not alone in this assessment of the Plena - I can think of so many uses for this lens now that I’ve tried it for my street work. It just feels right - thanks for watching I always appreciate your feedback
All in on family! I changed my entire photography system because of family. When my twins came, I sold all my fuji gear for a ZF and the 24-120, the 50 1.8 and the 135 1.8. fuji auto focus just doesn't cut it when I need to catch up my toddlers. I am surprised there are trillion of vid talking about gears for street, portrait, landscape but nobody talks abt the best for family daily shooting. To me, I use ZF + 24-50 + 40/f2, and I switch the shutter sound off. This combo is small, silent, versatile enough for me to shoot my family anytime without bothering their activity. Most of the time they don't even notice I'm taking photo of them. Thanks for a very high quality vid with very true msg from deep. I'm 40s also.
I just love your videos. Awesome content, photos and storytelling. I compromised on my 135 and got that Plenas' father. The Nikkor 135 f/2d DC (in excellent used shape). The bokeh control is interesting and has some special tuning of the red waves to aid in skin tone for portraiture. So far very interesting and great bokeh and looks great on my Zf. Although it's manual focus only. Have you ever had the chance to try the 135 DC?
I heard nothing but great things about that 135mm f2, haven’t tried it! I just bought my first F mount lens (AI-S) so starting slow with that massive back catalogue. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Like you, I am both a professor and photographer (well to be honest I am now Professor Emeritus). We often put too much into our academic careers at the expense of family. It is great to see you have chosen the correct path of putting family first. You learned this much earlier than I did!! Kudos!! Very much enjoy your videos that blend photography with life. I bought the Nikon Plena a couple months ago and have found it stunning! I have used it for outdoor events during day time and evening. I have only used the Plena on my Z8 which couples great with it. This video has encouraged me to use it on my new Zf. Thanks!!
Hi John, great to connect - academia is a gift and a curse, (mostly a curse these days it seems haha). Trying not to lose sight of the big picture. The plena is beautiful, as is the Z8 - a wonderful setup. Happy shooting!
@@BokehTherapy Indeed, academia has its highs and lows, but it is a wonderful career- cherish the highs and move on from the lows. Your content is much appreciated. Keep up the great work!!
I write this while I shoot with the Zf + 135mm combo too. However, in my case it's the F2 DC. I think if you could get your hands on that lens and are alright with taking things even slower and manually focusing a razor thin focal plane, it would make for a great video. If we talk about no compromises, I think Plena might still be most of the people's go to- Autofocus and sharpness being absolute highlights. From looking at the images, to me the DC's bokeh is much more creamier and has this really appealing nature to it. Specular highlights and microcontrast is amaing. But also the fact that even though the lens might not seem 'sharp' it holds so much detail. The FTZ II adapter definitely adds to the length and heft of it though but I'm guessing its still smaller than a Plena? Absolutely loved the review btw. So beautifully done.
Mmm I just bought my first F mount AIS lens… it is a black hole for sure haha. I think that collection will slowly grow, and I love manual focus. Will be covering that in a future video, thanks for watching!
40 is a great age ! Just getting started….Anyway, I hadn’t thought about taking a 135mm lens onto the street. I’ll have to give it a try after seeing your video. I appreciate your historical references a lot-you must be a very good teacher !
Thank you Michael - I feel more comfortable in my own skin at 40 than I did in my 30s for sure. 135mm for street is surprisingly fun on the street - further away and a bit less conspicuous even with a bigger lens.
@@BokehTherapy I do a lot of street work in New York and maybe the 135 might be helpful to aim for some of that "Leiter" look. Agree with your outlook on family too.
Ok so now I want the Plena lens. Will probably hold off since the 85mm f1.2 has been great and having to big prime lenses will mean one stays home. Great video and some good points about weighing convenience vs. compromise. Always a tough call when making a selection of just about anything in life. Looking forward to seeing what your Japan kit will be this time. I am leaning m11 and z8 myself.
Everyone in the comments has been telling me to get the 85mm f1.2 - haha it’s a dilemma isn’t it. The Japan kit video will take a while to make - I have changed my mind at least 10 times already
@@BokehTherapy I know the feeling. I am months away and I have been changing my mind about as often. My recent imersion into Leica has put the whole travel kit in dissaray. The challenge will be to not take to much gear thinking that I don't want to miss something.. Focus on the trip and not the gear that may have been perfect for X xshot..
Plena, huh? It's gonna be hard to justify keeping my 50/1.2 while trying to add both a 85/1.2 and the Plena. I'll be interested in your thoughts when you get your hands on the 85. Many do consider it to be Nikon's best Z mount lens. Ok, I'm finished dictating your future content. Another great video Jack. You keep giving us so much more than gear reviews and that's a nice change. Keep up the great work.
I'm not sure the plena is the best lense I ever had , but it is one of my favorits. I was deciding between the 85 1.2 and it , but since I have the 85 1.8 and I don't use it that much , it was a no brainer. With my Z9 it balances really well ,it's a match made in heaven. Approching mid 30's BTW.
Nice to hear from you, the Z9 is still unmatched on the market in a lot of ways! The Plena is a beautiful optic, makes me really excited for what’s to come with Nikon. Happy shooting!
Hi Jack, I own the older Nikkor 135mm f/3.5 AI. I have to tell you it’s pretty amazing. No distortion and is extremely sharp. Bokeh is meh. However, it fills the need until I can justify the Plena. I can’t one handed hold it in portrait mode. My carpal tunnel won’t let me but yeah, beauty has a price. Enjoyed this video as always. Love the lens too ❤.
I will be on the hunt for AI and AIS glass in Japan so thanks for the tip! I'm testing a workaround to the FTZ adapter too for F-mount glass, there are lots of options right now
Great to hear more about this lens! It really seems magical, and reminds me of Nikon's early days when they didn't compromise on anything. I know it should not really matter, but having great build quality and engineering is really important to me, to have that piece of mind and that joy of using a meticulously crafted item. I recently got a Nikon F5 to use with some of my older Nikkors, and have been amazed with it, the build quality and how futuristic and visionary it was for being made in 1996. You can truly see all of Nikon's future cameras in it. Nikon's commitment to creating things like the plena really makes me love their dedication. How have you been enjoying the focal length, do you find it too restrictive, or is it usable as a walk around lens?
I honestly think Nikon are not very enthusiastic about making entry level products - they want everything to be a home run like the Plena! I don’t find 135mm restrictive, it’s actually great to use for street at night. You’d have a blast! That F5 sounds amazing, I finally bought my first F mount Nikkor yesterday - no one does old vs new better than Nikon
@@BokehTherapy that is great to hear; I feel the lense was almost specifically for a person like me, ha ha. I am sure I will get one eventually :D I do really love how easy it is to continue to use Nikon's huge legacy of amazing lenses even to this day. It is fun to learn about and explore their catalog too. I hope you like your first classic Nikkor lens!
Older AI-S lenses aren’t that expensive but it feels like a big investment for some reason haha. Buying into the history of Nikon is a big step - will cover the lens in a few weeks on the channel, plus plenty more Plena!
The reality of what I want currently kind of reflects in my lens choices on the ZF, my kit I will be bringing to japan next month is the 26mm 2.8 a 40mm F2.8 and the tamron 35-150 F2-2.8, im currently in an engineering field right out of college at 24 years old but looking to go back to my degree field of applied geography and GIS work hopefully pursuing viticulture research. Ive enjoyed my short stint in engineering but its not what I imagined it to be as a kid. In years to come im sure my focus will mature but the current scatterbrained approach I have with photography is formulating what I hope to become in the future. Lovely video as always the plena is a gorgeous lens and one I dont think I have a purpose for in life yet! But alas there is always the future.
Oh this is a great time - lots of pathways (maybe every pathway!) is still open for you. That Tamron is a big lens but is absolutely amazing - have a great trip in Japan! Which cities are you planning to visit?
I resisted getting this lens for a long time. Then Matt Irwin had Jasin Boland on his channel and they gushed over the Plena when the subject came up. Fine. I'll get one. We're slowly coming to terms but it has turned me into a portrait photographer and unless you count dogs I ain't no portrait photographer! My favorite travel lens is the 24-200mm, but now the Plena travels too. Kinda cool how a tool will elevate your game with little effort. And you're still younger than my daughter..... and back pain is no joke. Staying in shape is the best medicine - as your genes will allow.
I only invested in a good chair a few years ago - really makes a big difference. I also could not resist the pull of the Plena - must have watched the same Plena livestream on Matt’s channel haha. Thanks for sharing!
It’s an interesting strategy - managed to do this without it making much bigger or heavier than the alternative. The image circle is indeed absolutely huge!
The way you view your family and daughter, hit me! I work construction by day, photograph what I can when I’m out. Been a hobby of mine since my 8th grade. My son is 8 and struggles with reading. And now that I’m 38 I understand what you’re saying that if I’m compromises family it isn’t worth it! Great video BTW. Definitely getting a follow…
Hello great to connect! I love hearing about how other people got into photography. I never regret the time I invest into family but work just keeps taking and taking if I let it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment - more to come!
Finally doing even more compressed focal length, as much as I want Plena and I can afford one in my 20s, it's not my focal length for portraits. Even with my 105mm f1.4, I still have trouble communicating with my subject, not shouting yet but certainly some gaps are there. I love doing fullbody shots hence it's straining. The Z 105mm f2.8 MC is tempting when I tried renting one, it's so light by half from the FTZ 105/1.4 combo. To close it, any Nikon file & glass in BW always won me over any system. They're simply more than telling stories.
I don’t shoot portraits so the longer 105/135mm working distance is OK FOR ME. The 85mm f1.2 seems to be everyone’s go to on Z cameras - have you tried that lens? The 105mm f2.8 macro is the next S lens on my list!
@BokehTherapy It's good, but 85mm isn't enough of my taste for the compression it gives. I prefer the compression of 105mm more. Hence why the 105/2.8 MC is more tempting for me to checkout, since it's lighter than 105/1.4 but sadly its caveat is like any Macro lens it's slower to focus, I sometime use my 1.4 for stage photography.
Nice video, I'm often debating whether a new lens helps me create or is fulfilling my gearhead side. But if a new lens inspires then it's worth it. As long as I don't keep doign it! lol
It depends on the country you’re in, in Australia I just look like more of a tourist with a big lens from further away so almost less threatening lol. A 35mm closeup is actually more conspicuous at times. What’s your go to lens for wildlife - 400mm?
@ oh snaps! The price is almost the same as the Plena. I shoot all my client portrait work with 50 f1.2s. And my landscape. Just love it. For my high end headshot series, I’m planning to shoot them at f2.8 - f4. Could do that with 85 f1.2s Would probably have to go to f8 with the 135 if i choose that. Idk. But thank you for your video and reply. Ps: will follow you on IG
@jonnycocteau-ku6yd I went for the 85mm f1.8 S as my 85mm, Nikon don't have any other 135mm in their lineup other than the Plena. Made my choice a little easier
Great images. I like the look of it. But I'm more of a 35mm, not 135mm shooter. It would probably take some practice to shoot that tight. I've been trying out an old school 58 f/1.2 and even that is a bit tight. With some more practice I hope to get there. BTW, love your story telling.
50mm is my favourite, the only focal length I can justify having multiple copies of - haven’t tried the 58? Old school f mount glass is the next black hole I am diving into lol. Thanks for watching Tony!
Couldn’t figure it out for a while - I think the sharpness plus falloff combo just edits really beautifully in monochrome for some reason? Hope it came through in the shots I included in the video, I really like the look
@@BokehTherapy glad you’re enjoying it, takes some adjustment but is worth the effort for the results. So much of this video resonated with me - especially saying no and focus on family. Much of my strategy for life now is themed around creating the circumstances where me and my family get to live in a way that works for us day to day.
@phillmeredith glad to hear you are making it work. I’ve had an eye-opening 12 months that forced me to figure out what I don’t want to put up with for the next few decades
@@BokehTherapy these experiences are good and shape our future, if we coast along uninterupted there is no opportunities for reflection until much later in life. I too have had a very tricky 12 months. Hope its going ok for you now buddy/
I retract my prior statement on calling you a young father, my apologies. I agree, don’t comprise family. I couldn’t bring a lens that big for travel. Especially for food and coffee pics lol Another great vid Jack!
Haha not a single coffee cup will be in focus with this lens. It will be exclusively used for night shooting by myself after everyone else has gone to bed lol
LOL... When I started on Sony (a bit over 4. years ago) I didn't know what I was doing (still don't). My first lens was the 135 GM. As a poor student, I didn't know what & why I bought it, but just saw some images produced with a 135. I was blown away. I still have this mens today although it sit on my shelf more than I shoot it. But, that might change in 2025...
I love shooting with Fuji 90mm f/2... and Plena sounds like good reason to switch to Nikon. Ypu really need to try once XF 90mm f/2. I bet You will be suprised.
I use 135mm GM for documentary my kids activities or performances in school. Most videos told us about 135mm being great at portrait or candid street or sometime landscape. Do you have any suggestions what else it could do?
I am still testing the waters with this focal length - my use case will be night time cityscapes, perhaps on rooftops! Glad to hear you like 135, that GM is a special lens too!
@@BokehTherapy funny thing with my use for 135mm is i dont like using it for portrait since i have to scream to guide the subject. Really exhausting 😁 When you have mastered the 135mm please be kind make video about it. Something different with ‘use this lens for outstanding portrait bla bla bla’. Most videos talk like this with 135mm
I don't really get the weight complaints. A kilo isn't that much. I currently use the GFX 110mm, and previously used the rf 85mm, and the sigma 135mm. All were my main lens at one point, and all are heavier than the plena. I haven't mained a lighter lens since 2018
Yup I found it very manageable, especially if you get the results you’re after in fewer shots. The GFX110mm is legendary! What’s your main body - 100S?
@@BokehTherapy 100II. I might've gotten the 100S II if it had released earlier, but the better autofocus is quite noticeable, especially for street photography.
Thanks so much - I am loving the Plena. The 100II looks amazing, the 100SII would be my pick if I jumped back into medium format. Used to have a GFX50R and it was fantastic
I have not tried that lens but it is the next S lens on my list. I have heard nothing but great things about the IQ; the autofocus isn’t the fastest but it’s a macro lens
I love the look of old AI-S glass, but I think the Plena has some character too! doesn’t really look like anything else out there. Thanks for watching!
@@BokehTherapy Oh I didnt mean it like that. If I could afford it, sure I would get this lens lol. Its just that cheaper lenses that have imperfections are not necessarily going to give you worse photos - for example, like the Biotar and its recent Ttartisan replica. The optical imperfections creating strong swirl in bokeh is something some people love, and it definitely is an unique look, from the tech side it's a worse lens, but I bet some portraits would be better if you shot with it rather than Plena
I get what you mean. That dreamy look with some lens flare and low contrast is very beautiful isn’t it - different looks for different occasions. I love old school lenses too
Interest to hear your life story along with your review of the lens. I am in my 70s and looking at buying this lens. It is more about will I carry this lens because of weight . I do have at 135mm lens that I used a lot and enjoyed the images created by it, but the lens does not work with the Z cameras. The Plena lens will create wonderful images for me and I love the look of a f1.8 image.
It is a wonderful lens, you should try it in store if you haven’t already to gauge the weight? I still have lots to learn, especially from viewers like you, thanks for watching and commenting!
A little over 1 year ago I purchased a used 200mm f2. It made little sense and likely occupies a realm similar to the newer Z 135mm f1.8. Practical? No. Light? Heck no. Versatile? Be serious. But then, I didn't purchase the lens used for any of that. I do shoot indoor sports (where a fast zoom would be infinitely more useful). Your description of the PLENA is very similar to my experience with the 200mm f2 - except for the vignette in the corners shot wide open. Those that have used it know that the combination of clarity, color rendition, sharpness, fall off, dimensionality, realism, contrast, and silk smooth transition zones make it unique even in the Nikon lineup. I've heard that the 135mm Plena is similar in that way, but has its own characteristic. I've spoken to several people that have owned both. The 135mm is more practical - and the working distance not as large. When you shoot the 200mm f2, you just know from the moment you look at the rear screen (does anyone do that anymore?), that the lens is different. Two of my photography buddies (one Sony, one Canon) both wanted to purchase one after seeing my images with it in camera. I hope the PLENA brings you lots of joy. I know that I've learned a lot shooting the 200mm f2, and it's an experience I'm glad I have the opportunity to experience.
Love this - I am glad to hear I am not alone in bringing this rather big lens for travel photography! I love the idea of a specialised tool for those once in a lifetime shots. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and watching!
@@BokehTherapy ;-) I feel your weight (?Pain). I take the 200mm with me nearly everywhere - because I want to shoot it. At 6 1/2 lbs it needs a monopod. Nearly pure steel. Gear is something I try to put in the background, but you know from shooting the PLENA, that there is a different feeling and creativity that comes with it. Enjoy. Hope we talk again. Keep up the adventure/journey in writing, video, and your photography. Many thanks.
Bruh I swear Jack Wang is a male pronstar Asian name... But seriously, I rented the Plena 3 months ago to see if it had massive difference to my SIGMA ART 135mm 1.8, lo and behold, No. Better by just about "so slightly" in the center but better in the corners, not much though, I am one of the many who don't give a damn about corner sharpness. The Plena has a contrasty rendering, the Sigma on the warmer side But you're right about the bokeh, it's beautiful and round! But Considering that you can get the SIGMA used for about 1/4th of the Price then by all means it is the poor man's Plena, not in a bad way of course!
4:23 Stepping motors are a joke... Linear Motors are the way to go. This Plena may be the best optically compared to Sony & Canon, but it has the worst AF-C performance
@@BokehTherapy it’s the best optically rendering 135 Prime lens when compared against Sony & Canon. It’s a beast for stills where the subject is stationary or where you only intend to shoot a single photo. It falls behind the 135GM for AF-C accuracy on fast moving subjects or when the focus is moving in a burst shot. It’s so heavy, and it has so much glass, which is why it has no vignetting in the corners at f/1.8. If I was going to invest in Nikon, this lens would be at the top of the list above the 85 1.2, it is that good and it is the pinnacle of Nikon’s glass portfolio along with the Noct
I used mine in AF-C all the time - mostly kept up with moving subjects at night on the street. Shoot Sony too so can tell the speed gap for AF, but I got all the keepers I needed. It’s big but not that heavy? Very usable
Use plena for motor sports all the time with no issues. The motors are plenty fast enough for everything in front of it. The GM and Plena both go from infinity to mfd in about 0.5s.

@@BokehTherapy Indeed, academia has its highs and lows, but it is a wonderful career- cherish the highs and move on from the lows. Your content is much appreciated. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks John - appreciate the perspective. Making these videos is a lot of fun, more to come soon!
Another wonderful emotionally moving video.
Thank you Chris - always appreciate your feedback!
@@BokehTherapy You let us into your internal monologue, which is brave for a RUclipsr. Do you know Tatiana Hopper's channel?
Big fan of Tatiana’s work! Processing my internal monologue is the main reason I make these videos - gear is just a very nice bonus
@@BokehTherapy Thought you might be. I love the both of you.
44 years old I need this lens in my life. It will one day :)
It is a beautiful lens - worth waiting for. Thanks for watching!
@ thank you. Great video By the way.
NYC is on my bucket list - the Leiter look is my favourite!
Came for lens review, got life lessons. Thanks jack. I dont owe anything to anyone.
Hello thanks for taking time to watch and comment! Employers are going to keep taking and taking if we let them
Ok so now I want the Plena lens.
This time I'm leaving my Leica kit behind I think. Don't have to bring as many different batteries and chargers. That's as far as I've gotten haha!
Hello Miguel! lol can I justify the 85mm f1.2? Maybe the Plena will open the floodgates. Hope you’re doing well!
I'm testing a workaround to the FTZ adapter too for F-mount glass, there are lots of options right now
@@BokehTherapy SO many eh? I look forward to what you end up with though I imagine the Plena is a step back in the budget!! 🥴
Haha yup. Even on sale the Plena put a dent in the travel budget for sure
thanks so much. it is a well written script for the Plana. I really want to own it and keep it last long with my ZF :)
It is a great lens and camera combo - thank you for watching!
I am sure I will get one eventually :D
I do really love how easy it is to continue to use Nikon's huge legacy of amazing lenses even to this day.
@@BokehTherapy I can't wait! Have fun!
Always enjoying your videos Charles, I mean Professor X, I mean Jack!
Haha that will be the thumbnail once I start balding in my 50s. Always great to hear from you!
Great video, totally agree, the Plena is my favorite too.
Yes it is undeniable! Great to hear from a fellow Plena shooter, will need your feedback as I get more reps in
It's basically a medium format lens; that's how they get away with no vignetting; the image circle is HUGE and you are looking at the middle cutout.
It’s an interesting strategy - managed to do this without it making much bigger or heavier than the alternative. The image circle is indeed absolutely huge!
@@BokehTherapy my working theory is that you should be able to adopt this to medium format camera and be fine.. someone prove me right!
Mmm I don’t own a GFX - maybe fringer makes an autofocus adapter
I love my 85/1.2z and i guess i will also love the Plena :)
I’m sure you will - it’s beautiful and a bit lighter than your 85mm f1.2!
Thanks !!! For making, Me Think in a Different Way Again :) :) :)
Thanks John, always great to hear from you!
I’m guessing on the newer Z bodies the autofocus should be fine. Will need to test it out when I finally get the lens
Nice video, I'm often debating whether a new lens helps me create or is fulfilling my gearhead side. But if a new lens inspires then it's worth it. As long as I don't keep doign it! lol
Thanks Russ! You shoot a lot of wildlife so 135 probably isn’t too long for your workflow? For my street work it still takes some getting used to
@@BokehTherapy Do you think if people see a big lens doing street it makes them aware of you? But 135mm is far too short for wildlife I encounter 😀
It depends on the country you’re in, in Australia I just look like more of a tourist with a big lens from further away so almost less threatening lol. A 35mm closeup is actually more conspicuous at times. What’s your go to lens for wildlife - 400mm?
@@BokehTherapy Yes I use a 400mm 4.5 or the big 400mm 2.8 with teleconverters often at 800mm f5.6
Russ and Jack ... you both deserve many more subs!
I have the z50mm f1.2.. and I absolutely love it. But I’m starting a headshot serious. And I’m trying to decide between this and the 85mm f1.2
The f1.2 series is amazing! Everyone tells me the 85mm f1.2 is the best Z lens they’ve ever tried, I still need to try it.
@ oh snaps! The price is almost the same as the Plena. I shoot all my client portrait work with 50 f1.2s. And my landscape. Just love it.
For my high end headshot series, I’m planning to shoot them at f2.8 - f4. Could do that with 85 f1.2s
Would probably have to go to f8 with the 135 if i choose that.
Idk. But thank you for your video and reply.
Ps: will follow you on IG
If you’re stopping down this much you could try the 85mm f1.8 S as well? I really like it as a lightweight telephoto
@ yeah your suggest may be the best choice. I’m on a Z9 body. Ours pretty heavy with just the 50 noct
I have the Plena and I love it but then I bought the 85 1.2 and loved that even more!
Mmm don’t tempt me with the 85mm f1.2… haha we are spoilt for choice. Thanks for watching!
@@BokehTherapy i own both, i do prefer the 85 too 🙃 great video, again, Jack!
I don’t have either yet. For me it will be one or the other due to cost. But which one 🤔🤓
@akaidekliin oh no another vote for the 85 lol I will have to test it out. Thanks for watching!
Is it better then the old favoured 105mm 1.4?
Never used that lens, I think portrait photographers still prefer the 105mm as a working distance?
Do you think it looks so good in black and white because the lens has really good contrast?
Couldn’t figure it out for a while - I think the sharpness plus falloff combo just edits really beautifully in monochrome for some reason? Hope it came through in the shots I included in the video, I really like the look
135/1.8 is simply stunning
I finally got a 135mm! It’s a beautiful focal length I’m getting used to. Hope you’re doing well Phill, it’s been a while!

I use 135mm GM for documentary my kids activities or performances in school.

Really exhausting 😁
When you have mastered the 135mm please be kind make video about it. Something different with ‘use this lens for outstanding portrait bla bla bla’. Most videos talk like this with 135mm
Haha I don’t shoot portraits - won’t have a video like that from me for better or worse lol. Travel photography is how I plan to test it next
@@BokehTherapy In any case, I think there's something special in having a basically perfect tool as your daily driver. Hope you enjoy the plena :)

Hello Jose - thanks for watching! Glad it resonated, it took a while to make this one
I am thinking about getting Nikon z 105mm f2.8 macro have you tried that lens how do think that lens is like using it.
I have not tried that lens but it is the next S lens on my list. I have heard nothing but great things about the IQ; the autofocus isn’t the fastest but it’s a macro lens
Wow. Brother I thought you're 30y/o max! Regards from one Dr Wang to another.
lol you’re too kind Dr Wang! I have the aches and pains of a 40 year old sadly
I like imperfections. They make the image more "human". But congrats on the lens, the images it produces are great
I love the look of old AI-S glass, but I think the Plena has some character too! doesn’t really look like anything else out there.
I love old school lenses too
The Z9 is where is at for balancing these big primes.
Not bad on the Z6III - well balanced!

Haha yup not the first time I’ve heard that one. Sigma make great lenses, glad to hear the 135mm ART works for you
4:23 Stepping motors are a joke... Linear Motors are the way to go. This Plena may be the best optically compared to Sony & Canon, but it has the worst AF-C performance
Mmm don’t think it’s the fastest, hasn’t made a difference for my workflow thankfully.
Very usable
@@BokehTherapyyou’re not shooting a stack…you can’t unleash the motors to its full potential
Use plena for motor sports all the time with no issues. The motors are plenty fast enough for everything in front of it. The GM and Plena both go from infinity to mfd in about 0.5s.
U look 30 man! Age is jst a number buy one n enjoy😂
Haha thanks so much - the Plena is beautiful!
