    Wow Sir, I really enjoyed this full ride! Thank you very much, my father same name as myself use to work for reading and Conrail from 47 to 82' was a signal maintainer out of race street tower, use to maintain all of the tracks in and out of the old reading train shed. And up to Wayne junction. And many railroad calls in-between. He was a working man in his younger life working 60+ hours a week until going to Conrail and the rules changed on how long you were allowed to work per week. We lived in hatboro. Just across from the old Vicks building. House backed up to the railroad. Thanks again ❤

    Interesting how SEPTA removed the moveable-point diamond at Jenkintown but one is still in place and being used at "Carmel". It's been years since I've been down that way, grew up nearby. There were two other stops between Willow Grove and Hatboro, one at Heaton and one at Fulmor. Notice the catenary poles change at 46:30. That's the start of the extension to Warminster which was constructed in 1974, almost 50 years ago! The extension was to reduce over-crowding at Hatboro station due to an increase in passengers as that area of Bucks County was being developed. When Warminster station was built, it was pretty much in the middle of farm fields. Now, it's all built up. Thanks for the ride.

      How do trains get over to the siding at Glenside?

    It's fun riding these SEPTA commuter rail lines like this one to Warminster with you!
    One impression I get FROM watching this particular video is that the train SEEMS to be moving along at a rather, shall I say, LEISURELY pace. But then it occurred to me that in order to get your video framed nicely in the train's front window, you may have had to zoom your lens in on that window to some extent. Zooming a lens on a video camera makes the train appear to be moving along at a slower speed than it actually is. This altered perception of speed is a small price to pay for having the video nicely framed.
    Thank you as always for the great videos you make and post. I'm impressed by your knowledge of the names of structures, landmarks, roads, etc., which the train crosses at grade and/or passes above or below on bridges and underpasses. Naming them makes us viewers feel more like we're right there with you riding the train. I love your down-to-earth relaxed commentary - you make us all feel invited on board and welcomed.

      Thank you much. Yes I do zoom the camera little bit because I want to show more of the railroad and less of the car interior. I don’t like looking at videos where you see most of the car and less of the railroad

    After Old York Rd. crosses Moreland Ave. into Upper Moreland Twp. from Abington Twp., it simply becomes York Rd. Definitely enjoying this video, Tim! I grew up in Willow Grove.

    Got to ride the "rest of the branch" from Willow Grove to New Hope on special 2011 tricentennial celebration of WG pulled by diesel GP30. I can hear train horns from Hatboro to Roslyn sitting on my porch. Rider of this branch once a week or more and love it.

    Grove south is the crossing the engineer busted thru and resulted in the collision at Roslyn. He fought tooth and nail to keep his recently-earned engineer certificate but was fired. The engineer on the Roslyn train noticed something funky with the signal (that signal is gone) and decided to stay at the station. That collision won’t happen again as they have PTC as of 2016.

    Rices Mill on the left, Highland Ave. on the right because of the township line (Abington Twp. on the right, Cheltenham Twp. on the left). My dad worked at SPS Technologies right at that crossing.

    The father of a long time friend was a life employee of Reading and at one time station master at Hatboro. Lots of stories. The Route 6 trolley looped at Broad and Olney, last subway station before Fern Rock.

    • @jbreezy101
      @jbreezy101 8 месяцев назад

      The 6 went up broad to ogontz then up what is now part of 309. It then went up keswick ave (about a half mile from 309) then jenkintown rd transitioning. To Tyson ave a Half-block away from Ardsley station. It passes
      about 1/4 mi or less past Roslyn then goes to edge hill rd then rockledge ave passing a half block from crestmont station then over the tracks N of there and goes briefly along Easton rd into the strip mall where papa John’s, kfc, men’s warehouse and AT&T is.
      I’d love to see that trolley restored and into the mall itself (a loop near the current bus stop). It’s Now the 22 and takes mostly Easton rd from broad st. A lot to rebuild plus eminent domain costs but the track area is mostly parking and landscaping.

    That SLV has a very loud and grinding traction motor

    Train motor was really loud when it was coming into a station. Some train cars I found like 879,860 and 865 have those loud weird motors that I don’t know why it makes that sound. Do u know?

    • @3985uprr

    • @jbreezy101
      @jbreezy101 8 месяцев назад

      Septa’s silverliner Vs have what some call the railfan window. Idk why these cars’ cabs are so small - you can’t really fit a trainee engineer and a trainer engineer. Can in a IV. I like the rfw. You can’t usually sit right at it as they tend to keep it clear in case of collisions. But 1-3 rows back is nice.

    @Retired Railfan Horn Guy And limited trains to Warminster?

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  Год назад

      They have a couple of Jenkintown expresses to Warminster

    • @jbreezy101
      @jbreezy101 8 месяцев назад

      6480 is the only Limited on the warminster Line (when septa expands the schedule they’ll go back to express to jenkintown): temple, fern rock, then D stops (depart ahead) at Jenkintown, Glenside, Ardsley, Roslyn, and F-stop (flag - notice to conductor or visible to engineer) at Cresmont, then D stops at Willow Grove and Hatboro then the final destination, warminster.
