    I went out and got the Kershaw Livewire in magnacut, which I enjoy for the sound.

      I’ve been carrying my Tanto Magnacut Livewire for a few weeks now. Before I carried a spartan Ultratech, the microtech is heavier which leads to the thought its better but despite how light the Livewire is its very sturdy and overall for $190 on sale it is a gem!

    Man, I miss my OTF knives! I had 3 microtechs and all 3 where stolen by someone i called a friend! Never let me down from an EDC 8n civilian life to having them with me on duty in the army! Amazing

    I carry and use all my high-end knives That's what they were made for to be used. Just because they're more expensive I'm not going to baby them I have many knives over $500 that I carry almost daily

    I carry a Mini Atomic Defender from Grindworx. It’s a pretty solid little knife for what it is. Definitely a light duty use but, it looks awesome in the zombie green/black. It’s a conversation piece as well.

    I'm happy with the cheapo lightning knives from bladeHQ. I remember they used to sell for like...$25 or something else super cheap. They're a little heavy but easy to spam open/close.

  • @dualsportoutdoors
    @dualsportoutdoors 29 дней назад

    I use all my blades, regardless of price. I'll use my $1,800 custom for the same tasks I put my $20 Dozier through. Knives are tools and I use them as such. So far the Kershaw Livewire is my favorite OTF. I do have a 3rd gen Combat Troodon and a Glykon on the way so that may change but beating the Livewire is a super tall order

    I put a little bit of synthetic grease on the springs to stop the twang sound

    • @J.DeLaPoer
      @J.DeLaPoer 8 месяцев назад

      Yes. Low end blades are notorious for it (my old AC-86 otf from the 1980s sounds like twangy guitar), but I've had very expensive ones do the same thing. A bit of grease on the spring, or even a thick oil like MPro-7, will usually stop things. I've also done the trick of cutting a thin rubber band and running the strip of rubber inside the mainspring itself.

    • @sprinkleddonuts6094
      @sprinkleddonuts6094 6 месяцев назад

      @@J.DeLaPoerthe rubber band probably didn’t do nothing at all. Since the spring is a coil. 😂

    • @J.DeLaPoer
      @J.DeLaPoer 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@sprinkleddonuts6094 Of course it's a coil; why would that mean it does nothing? By running a strip of rubber _inside_ the coil, it creates increased mass for the spring, stops it moving around laterally, and provides a soft buffer for the rings of the coil to move against. All those factors mitigate the twanginess vs just having a bare spring.

    • @disturbedlife5691
      @disturbedlife5691 4 месяца назад +1

      I pack the spring area with plain chapstick. Keeps it smooth and keeps debris from moving around inside. Stops twang. And the best part is you can place it under the button to hold the string in place while reassembling

      Have you owned a microtech? Way better than Benchmade and very much worth the money. I got the new gen 3 combat troodon. Not the best in edge retention but better than any other otf. Hands down tack knives are the cheapos. And the lightning otf is better than any in this video. And they are 30$. It's not about price it's all about design, geometry, and heat treat. Of course most important of all, if it makes you smile. If you go by the smile, there's nothing bad or good. Some people actually buy the Benchmade infidel and somehow appreciate it. That's totally fine. But objectively as much as I don't like how microtech runs their company, they are the best.
      My opinion,,,, buy the livewire. Perfect otf perfect price
