    Good video as usual. My take on the Gestapo disc is the German Police were a state organization and so wouldn't come under RZM jurisdiction, which was for party (NSDAP) items, so a real one would never have an RZM code on it, other than that I wouldn't know what to look for on one - please keep these videos coming.......

    On the Russian front badge, quick thought. All originals I have and have seen have a mate dark grey, if your lucky silver frosting on the edge. I do have an original 1957 issue that has that same bluish sheen, so for what that's worth.

    Dan I wish you would show real genuine items next to the fakes so we can see the side by side comparison! I love your videos my friend!

      If i had them, i would. Original Gestapo disks aren’t exactly lying around my office. If you need to see the basic stuff like mothers crosses there is a great website called www.war-relics.com with thousands of high quality archived photos of originals. Much of the stuff is fantasy…so there are no originals to compare to.

    The Gestapo badge is a serious piece of kit to make a mistake with.. genuine ones are very expensive but also there are very few experts to verify with...
    Do a lot of research and study very, very carefully the font or numbers..
    For this item do not buy without being able to compare with genuine examples, do lots of research and be able to get your money back...
    Buying this online from an unknown source who has no reputation would be a fatal, schoolboy error..
    On genuine Mother's Crosses the longer point should be sharper than the rest.. Of course false ribbons and other fabrication errors will help you there..

    it always amazes me that people would waste so much time & effort to produce fakes

      Well keep in mind that lots of this junk was made pre internet. So people got sucked right in because they had no way to verify anything. Also the fakers do this on a large scale. So taking the time to make one shitty casting and replicate it by 50,000 makes for a big payday.

    14:34 dead give away is the fact that the rear is flat. it shold be kinda curved/gollow,
    because of the way they were made.. especially the rifle should be very hollow not flat

      @smgwarrelics  5 месяцев назад

      Thats not true. There are tons of solid back makers. Matter of fact. Hollow backs are more rare.

    Whas the fake iron cross the better quality one, a 3 piece metal, and is it magnetic?

    • @smgwarrelics
      @smgwarrelics  3 месяца назад

      It was three piece. I don’t remember if it had a magnetic core or not.

      That's the first thing to check on a iron cross 2nd class@@smgwarrelics

      @@davidr2975 thats not true. That’s an old wives tale. In fact, very desirable variants exist with brass cores and also very rarely with zinc cores.

      You are correct, but it is a very good sign if it is magnetic , just saying.

      Difficult to do unfortunately because in some cases real ones dont exist. In other cases they are so rare i don’t have a real one laying around or they just get sold. I don’t hold onto fakes hoping for a good one to come along. Just dumb luck when it does work out that way.
