A great event and stories. And the items are great. And seeing a Veteran over 100 years old is wonderful testament to there service. Thank you Erik and JD for the tour. The Iron Cross story was neat. Thanks for sharing! ❤️👍👊💯
Looks like you had a great day. Thanks for helping to keep Real American History during these tough times. Must say that was one big show, "So much history - So little time."
@@powercatjeffy cool! Hope you got some good buys. lol, this is like a massive military flea market, I’d have to take a few hundred in cash and leave everything else at home!
@@B-fz7bu I wish I could have walked away with stuff. I mainly went for the experience. Only thing I bought was bullets from Chickamauga, as JD highlighted in one of his shorts. My g-g grandfather fought and was captured there.
@@powercatjeffy Whoa, that’s pretty cool! A lot to chew on, those are literally relics from your past! Yeah, just seeing all that stuff it’s amazing so much was preserved!
The reason your vids are so good is because you bring a large element of emotion to most everything you do JD. It's real...not forced because you are real about it and bring it with you. What a smart guy to surround yourself with such people and knowledge. Still say you should have your own tv show.
Excellent video showing all the historical items and the story of Joe Madona! Thank you JD for all the time and videos you make! I learn something every time I watch!!
I literally just found your channel TODAY. I started watching some of your episodes from Gettysburg. I've got to tell you, I really like your content and presentation style. 👍
Sorry I missed it this year. As usual Erik got a nice haul. That paper with the flag raising on Iwo Jima was awesome. I just rewatched Flags of Our Fathers last week.
Great video. I liked the framed picture of the Iwo Jima flag raising with signatures of 2 of the flag raisers. Several years ago they found out that Rene Gagnon was not one of the flag raisers. That 3rd division helmet you bought is incredible. I collect a lot of WW2 Marine items. I'm hoping to make it to that show next year.
I had the privilege and pleasure of caring for many WWII vets as a nurse and the bravery, pride, patriotism and unselfishness these men and women exhibited are things that cannot be taught.
Nice job reoresenting this amazing event - interesting (to me) that I'd snapped photos of many of the items you highlighted. The brass and bone artwork WAS amazing!
I did one better than all these Militaria Shows. I cleaned out all the Veteran's Estates here locally when I was in my twenties. I'm now in my late fifties. I got my items through hard work which required getting dirty... Not only did I meet their families. I got to bond with them when they were still alive. I do miss them a lot
Those posters of the famous Iwo Jima flag raising was very cool. However, Rene Gagnon was not one of the actual flag raisers. He brought the famous second flag up to the top of the mountain. Here is the list of the flag raisers: Ira Hayes, Harold Schultz, Michael Strank, Franklin Sousley, Harold Keller and Harlon Block. John Bradley was not a flag raiser. The Marines corrected the flag raisers about 6 years ago. Still a neat poster artifact.
Awesome haul! Wish I could be there! I would've gotten that bullets and metal photo frame but I don't think I can actually bring it back to Singapore with me🤣 Would love to go on the tour with Matt Leitch. Bet it'll be a blast and very educational for those who are interested in visiting actual sites where it all happened I've raised a recommendation to our local library to get Chris' books - praying hard they'll get them🤞With what's going on in two continents now, our children need to learn about what the veterans did and went through during the war That little interaction with the veteran was so sweet. Best of health, Ed! ❤ On a sidenote, if you read Ed Shames' book "Airborne: The Combat Story of Ed Shames of Easy Company", Shames did mention Joe Madonna quite a bit. If my memory serves, Madonna was one of Shames' buddies in I Company before he was transferred to Easy Thanks and can't wait for the next episode💯
Great video! I would love to go, maybe next year. It's really great to hear of a couple other legitimate dealers in this video. The reason I don't go to militaria shows is because there are just soooo many fakes, but knowing at least a few legitimate dealers would make it a lot more interesting to go.
It never ceases to amaze me how people find such artifacts of tyranny, so interesting. Shows like this are essentially romanticizing items from a regime so many American men died fighting against. I'm sure you wouldn't have seen shows like this in the 60's or 70's.
classy move eric. bravo. the gi also couldve shellacked the insignia to keep it from chipping. that was a known thing theyd sometimes do. that thermos is awesome.
JD: You produce very engaging and entertaining videos, which I enjoy very much. I would like to make a correction to what Bill Shea said regarding the famous Joe Rosenthal image of the flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi: Rene Gagnon is NOT in that photo. He was a runner and carried the flag pictured (which was the second flag raised). He was in other posed photos taken afterwards on the summit, but he is not in that famous photo. It only took the Marine Corps until October 2019, 74 years after the battle for Iwo Jima, to correctly identify Harold Keller instead of Rene Gagnon as one of the six Marines in the photo.
That is correct. We talked about that off camera but I should have made a notation on camera. I think that Bill was referring to the fact that Gagnon was credited as a flag raiser at the time.
Thanks for sharing JD. One question, how do you know these items are original items? We have a similar massive show in Belgium Called Ciney. But honestly, I think the majority of the German stuff offered at Ciney is doubtful. There is a large industry in Eastern Europe in producing fake stuff.
I saw a saddle and was wondering if it was used in WWI or WWII. I knew horses were used in both wars. It Looked in good condition for a saddle that was probably used everyday. War Horse is my favorite WWI movie by the way. ♥️🐴👍

There they battled up Iwo Jima's hill Two hundred and fifty men But only twenty-seven lived To walk back down again And when the fight was over And Old Glory raised Among the men who held it high Was the Indian, Ira Hayes Johnny Cash/Peter La Farge.
This reminds me of the early US space program. It seems to me that NASA used multiple probes launched nearly simultaneously in order to get one successful mission. I think that this company would be a good candidate to proceed further, their Mk 2 version will perform significantly better than the first attempt. Obviously, they have a great team to be able to cope with the many in-flight challenges of this mission. Don’t think of this as a complete failure, but use the SPACEX philosophy and think of it as a near success. Spacefaring is hard.

Let me start by saying that I love your videos. I do take exception with the comment that Mr. Wyatt made about the Iron Cross being the equivalent to the Medal of Honor. In order to win a Medal of Honor someone had to truly go above and beyond. Sadly, most of them died in earning that medal. The very fact that there are multiple awards of the Iron Cross tells me they are not equivalent.
Can you imagine what the actual blood order Nazi flag ,with the blood stains, that Hitler touched the other ceremony flags with in that famous video. Tragic but is still historic priceless.
What a haul you guys made!! However, it's unfortunate that you have to remind people that just because there are Nazi items in the haul does not mean you are glorifying the Nazi ideology. Unfortunately, some don't/won't/can't understand this and, even after your comments, there will still be some who don't/won't/can't understand this.
