Mr. Hakita Sir, I want you to know that sliding down the side of the pyramid racing V2 and trading shots was a defining moment in FPS gaming for me. Literally one of the coolest, most hype things I have ever experienced in a shooter. Thank you for making this badass masterpiece.
Love how punching V2 with his arm has a really high chance of pissing him off. I just wish there was an an achievement for finishing him off with the knuckleblasters during the second phase. That would be aweseome.
Greed V2 might be one of my favorite video game bosses ever. The feeling of dueling with an equal and eventually besting him through skill alone is truly magnificent. I instantly reload the checkpoint after beating him over and over again to experience the thrill of all over again. It doesn't get old, and I doubt it will ever. I seriously can't wait to face V2 on Brutal or UKMD! UPDATE: Brutal V2 has been extremely SATISFYING!
It was quite difficult for me personally to get through that first phase. Upon doing so and seeing him run away yet again. All I could think was- “oh you ain’t getting away that easy!” And it was nice to see the game agreed. 10/10 can’t wait to break the game with the new arm.
It's great that the second phase is a lot easier than the first phase is, and that we get a checkpoint right before it as well. Hakita loves making brutally difficult levels, but he also likes to be fair as well.
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 after gabriel, v2 seemed like a single swordsmachine. doesnt change the fact that he’s still the best boss in this game, so much personality with 0 dialogue
@@HIGHTOP203 late comment, imo V2 is much, much harder than Gabriel, after one or two tries Gabriel becomes predictable, parry this, dash out of that, slide under, but V2 is just like you, it hits hard, it moves fast and you dont know its next move.
@@Lucas-yu4bu You can predict V2 but the window is so short you can only react in instinct. The Gabriel fight feels more like an actual choregraphy, two missed steps and you're out, while V2 is much more savage, akin to animals fighting for their survival and V2 doesn't deal as much damage as Gabriel but blood is way scarcer. They're both great challenges, and how hard they are really depends on the player's style.
@Drayde Under V2 can toss his own coin and coin shoot you, but you can counter it by shooting his coin before he hits it. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this...
The V2 rematch, in my eyes, is the kind of thing you show someone to get them onboard with ULTRAKILL. Every FPS has that thing or that level, Quake II, it was DM, Half-life (Imo) It was the moments leading up to Xen, with Unreal, it was the engine itself. But this was a single level, a single fight, powerful enough to be that catch. Bravo, Hakita, bravo
I really do hope when al the acts come out and the songs are available, I really want like 1 or 3 Vinyl records. Saw a comment like this and the idea of having a vinyl record that says ULTRAKILL: INFINITE HYPERDEATH seems really metal and is a great conversation piece.
Man, the chills that went down my spine hearing that bassline... absolutely fantastic version of Versus. Sad to see V2 go but at they went out in the best way possible, with an awesome tune to their name!
I feel like v2 is gonna be like the taniks of ultrakill and he’s just never going to die, every time you kill him he finds some way to come back. All in all, can’t wait for v2 to be put back together with a sword machine arm
@@kat-dy6jc Hope we get to see him again in some form. Since is is one of the best boss fights ever. Maybe add it the Cyber grind? Or a new game plus where you play as him?
@@404_nowheresnotfound3 his ai isn't capable of surviving in the cybergrind, he'll just fly off the end constantly. Hakita mentioned it in an interview, along with the fact that he made v2's death that way specifically so there would be 0 doubt that he's dead forever
5:05 I know it's random and kinda pointless, but can i talk about how amazing the end of the song is? Not only it's perfectly synced to when V2 hits the ground, but the song doesn't cut short. It slowly fades into the "Egyptian" ambiance and the "Versus" motif, though pretty silent and by the end it disappears completely. It feels like it was on purpose to ease your adrenaline after coming out victorious in this fast and tense fight. A sense of proudness. You did it, you defeated your nemesis and took another one of it's arms, i think that's why you can hear the Versus motif pretty hidden in the background and disappearing. Like a reminiscent of V2 itself, we can even compare to Gabriel's outro: _"May your woes be many, and your days few."_ It's the last trace of V2, besides its torn to pieces body smashed on the ground and the arm you picked out. What way to end the Greed layer, huh? V2 was hated by many, but loved by many more. Including me.
This fight has become EASILY one of my favourite bosses of all time, the soundtrack, gameplay and spectacle of it is PERFECT. you did an incredible job with this one!
I want so badly for there to be one last fight, either with a repaired and modified V2 or with the green robot V2 got the Whiplash arm from. You're walking through an empty locale, a disturbing sense of twisted familiarity settling in. You swear you've been in a situation like this before. You hear that low bass kick in, but it's different - hollow. Something is wrong. You reach the main room, and the familiar leitmotif of VERSUS kicks in, but it's not the same. It's not a DUEL. It's a GRUDGE MATCH.
@@JmonsterNEO i thought of something like this a few days ago but instead V2 gets repaired and you end up fighting him again but right before V1 and V2 fight Gabriel comes from above and smites V2 and Gabriel becomes the boss in V2's place
this song... this version of versus... the duel (versus reprise) it perfectly show the fight for survival in v2, he struggles to keep up with v1 as he is slowly beaten into a corner by his nemesis the first time you fight him, he gives respect in the fight as he thinks it's a fair fight but loses to v1, losing his arm. the second fight is filled with rage as he sees v1 enter with his arm, anger is the only thing he feels as he tries his luck with v1... with new tricks and moves for v1, but v1 has mastered these tricks that v2 only discovered recently and starts to falter due to his lack of skill. v2 uses underhanded tricks to hopefully match up on v1's level the second fight is a fight for survival in v2's terms as v1 sees him as a minor roadblock to the inferno
after the Fight with V2, i was kinda sad to see him be blown apart like that, hope he gets rebuilt or something Cause he's honestly my favorite character rn
I went into this game completely blind, knowing next to nothing, because a friend of mine couldn't stop talking about it. Next thing I knew I experienced an FPS unlike any other. Loved kicking V2's ass to this
Once I heard that bassline start I got the stupidest grin on my face, I knew I was in for a good time and I was not disappointed. In fact I'm gonna go fight again right now.
I remember walking through the halls of the temple and just hearing that sudden bassline gave me the biggest shit eating grin. And Phase 2! Holy shit, what a sendoff for V2.
I like how the main theme of the pyramid is zen, but this bass that plays while we climb to V2 means his presence, but when we kill V2, the bass disappears, which means that his presence also disappeared and only zen remains
Now that I think about it, V2's death has a great symbolism. In the lore, he is supposed to be a better version than us. And it is clearly shown in Clair de Lune since he always gives us a reality check the first time we fight him, and even after we defeat him he lives. I think that hakita wanted it that way to tell us that we did good, but we are not ready yet. And only in this level is were we are ready for whatever comes to kill us, and the bossfight now can implement almost all the things we have as a final test. V1 saying "You are not getting away this time" symbolises that we, the players, have already mastered the mecanics of the game and thus we no longer need him alive. Making the purpose of V2's ultradeath as a way to say that we are now the apex predator in hell. Sorry if my english is bad, it's not my native language
here some useless info: clair de lune means moonlight clair de soleil means sunlight there are 4 skulls in clair de lune 2:09 is a dune eternal reference if you listen to guitar in slaves to power, there are insurrectionists climbing the pyramid i think there will be a Sisyphus prime boss in tombs of kings, the diffrent coffins contains famous youtubers who played ultrakill hideous mass and malicious face are the only bosses that are not seen before we fight them if you pull a drone towards yourself with wiphlash and the puch it with knuckleblaster, you will get a homerun style fill an enemy with nails, hit him with electric railcannon then you will get a conductor style the video of hakita 'ULTRAKILL - 70 Idol' you can see a photo of ferryman (possibly)
So much of Ultrakill provides such Iconic gaming moments that I’ll never forget. Whether it’s V2 first introduction, Corpse of King Minos’s reveal, Gabriel’s monologues, and especially all of 4-4. V2’s getting up from his throne, sliding down a pyramid, and my favorite death scene probably of all time
Literally every moment in Ultrakill had me on the edge of my seat, it kept me like that for a good 20 hours while I still learned the pace of the game. I was so uncomfortable I'd even gotten a cramp but was too busy fighting V2.1 to relieve it
didnt even process in my brain that there would be a second phase of the fight until v2 bust out the side of the pyramid. incredible stuff, ultrakill will be an unforgettable game.
I love how the subversion of expectations works here. I got to Minos Prime before i tried act 2, so naturally i knew how to deal with act 1's V2, which for me was basically your ultrakill teacher, since he would be a big difficulty spike but when you know how to use the mechanics at your disposal, goes down easily. So when i saw him again at 4-4, i thought i was gonna mop the floor with him again, so i overconfidently walked over to him expecting him to use the shotgun until i realised *That's the minigun not a shotgun* And when it hit me that he was just another massive skill check and an even larger difficulty spike compared to his first fight, i'd already died 7 times. New V2 forced me to re-learn an opponent i thought i was familiarised with and adopt new strategies to take him down, and that pretty much sums up how act 2 felt like to me, taking on new challenges with old gear and new knowledge. Great chapter overall, really hyped to see what we'll get at P-2 and soon to come, Act 3.
Finally got into Ultrakill recently after having it on my wishlist for a while. It took a while for me to beat V2's rematch, but I was humming the music all the way through the fight. Honestly it was probably one of my favourite boss fights that I've ever played, and the pyramid slide was incredible even though I knew it was coming.
There is a hilarious yet sick sense of irony I feel when the entire reason why V2 fought V1 again was for both revenge, and to get his arm back, only for me to use that very arm as the final KO punch that sent him hurling to the ground at Mach 10.

My man really put V2 in a death cicle
It was quite difficult for me personally to get through that first phase. Upon doing so and seeing him run away yet again. All I could think was-
“oh you ain’t getting away that easy!”
And it was nice to see the game agreed.

Also, show them parrying a Corpse Of King Minos punch. The absolute coolest shit ever done in a game.

The hype for this fight was off the roof once that bassline kicks in. Seriously had me grinning like a madman.

I know it's random and kinda pointless, but can i talk about how amazing the end of the song is?
Not only it's perfectly synced to when V2 hits the ground, but the song doesn't cut short. It slowly fades into the "Egyptian" ambiance and the "Versus" motif, though pretty silent and by the end it disappears completely. It feels like it was on purpose to ease your adrenaline after coming out victorious in this fast and tense fight. A sense of proudness. You did it, you defeated your nemesis and took another one of it's arms, i think that's why you can hear the Versus motif pretty hidden in the background and disappearing. Like a reminiscent of V2 itself, we can even compare to Gabriel's outro: _"May your woes be many, and your days few."_
It's the last trace of V2, besides its torn to pieces body smashed on the ground and the arm you picked out. What way to end the Greed layer, huh?
V2 was hated by many, but loved by many more. Including me.
hakita you did NOT have to go this hard
but i respect the fact that you did
This fight has become EASILY one of my favourite bosses of all time, the soundtrack, gameplay and spectacle of it is PERFECT.
you did an incredible job with this one!
HOLY SHIT that was actually brilliant, I applause you
Sadly, it was said that v2 got his whiplash from modifying parts of multiple different machines, not just one.
But it would be awesome if we could

this song... this version of versus... the duel (versus reprise)
it perfectly show the fight for survival in v2, he struggles to keep up with v1 as he is slowly beaten into a corner by his nemesis
the first time you fight him, he gives respect in the fight as he thinks it's a fair fight but loses to v1, losing his arm.
the second fight is filled with rage as he sees v1 enter with his arm, anger is the only thing he feels as he tries his luck with v1... with new tricks and moves for v1, but v1 has mastered these tricks that v2 only discovered recently and starts to falter due to his lack of skill. v2 uses underhanded tricks to hopefully match up on v1's level
the second fight is a fight for survival in v2's terms as v1 sees him as a minor roadblock to the inferno
when i heard that riff at 1:53 i literally went "ooooh fuuuuck, this is so good". this is absolutely AMAZING. THANK you Hakita!

Sorry if my english is bad, it's not my native language
that line was just to make sure the player would know what to do
oh yeah and hakita killed off v2 early so the people would know he’s not important to the story

in tombs of kings, the diffrent coffins contains famous youtubers who played ultrakill
hideous mass and malicious face are the only bosses that are not seen before we fight them
if you pull a drone towards yourself with wiphlash and the puch it with knuckleblaster, you will get a homerun style

EPIC PREDICTION YOU DID IT MAN 👍
So much of Ultrakill provides such Iconic gaming moments that I’ll never forget.
I was so uncomfortable I'd even gotten a cramp but was too busy fighting V2.1 to relieve it
once i heard the bass in the background, i KNEW what was coming.
"How's this for a trade: I beat you into a FUCKING PULP, and you give me my arm back"
didnt even process in my brain that there would be a second phase of the fight until v2 bust out the side of the pyramid. incredible stuff, ultrakill will be an unforgettable game.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. BEST. BOSS. IN. THE. GAME.
nope just best boss across all games
Honestly everyone thought seeing V2 sitting was cocky, but then every single player got +ENRAGED when V2 counter ricoshot you
I love how the subversion of expectations works here.
I got to Minos Prime before i tried act 2, so naturally i knew how to deal with act 1's V2, which for me was basically your ultrakill teacher, since he would be a big difficulty spike but when you know how to use the mechanics at your disposal, goes down easily.
So when i saw him again at 4-4, i thought i was gonna mop the floor with him again, so i overconfidently walked over to him expecting him to use the shotgun until i realised
*That's the minigun not a shotgun*
And when it hit me that he was just another massive skill check and an even larger difficulty spike compared to his first fight, i'd already died 7 times.
New V2 forced me to re-learn an opponent i thought i was familiarised with and adopt new strategies to take him down, and that pretty much sums up how act 2 felt like to me, taking on new challenges with old gear and new knowledge.
Great chapter overall, really hyped to see what we'll get at P-2 and soon to come, Act 3.
wow, you made versus somehow even better
Finally got into Ultrakill recently after having it on my wishlist for a while. It took a while for me to beat V2's rematch, but I was humming the music all the way through the fight. Honestly it was probably one of my favourite boss fights that I've ever played, and the pyramid slide was incredible even though I knew it was coming.
I really wish this track was just called "Versus 2"

There is a hilarious yet sick sense of irony I feel when the entire reason why V2 fought V1 again was for both revenge, and to get his arm back, only for me to use that very arm as the final KO punch that sent him hurling to the ground at Mach 10.
I’ve been waiting for you to upload this song just to say you absolutely crushed this boss theme! Amazing job on your part!
"You're not getting away this time."
legit, i found the cheese strat to this fight: SCREWDRIVER
you just stand next to him and you're invincible while his hp melts like chocolate
man the amount of respect we have for calling an obvious machine "he" instead of "it"
we really do care about our rivals huh
V2 feels vengeful at least, that is canon.
@@CRITICALHITRU According to all known laws of artificial intelligence, there is no way a machine should be able to feel. Its desire for blood is too important to be overridden with emotions. The machine, of course, hates V1 anyway because machines don't care what humans think is impossible.

*"You're not getting away this time."* - V1
There was so much about that fight to love. Although I hate to see v2 go becuase he was a perfect rival and definitely badass. I enjoyed all the new mechanics to the fight, like when he shot my coin. The second phase where you slide down the pyramid was one of my defining moments for this game. I hope to see v2 return again in one way or another, even if he's just a red splat on the floor now.
The first couple times I fought him, I didn't even notice you were sliding down the pyramid in the second phase, but knowing that makes this fight so much cooler.
