    I really enjoyed watching this video. The school at which I coach has never used rifles, and we are just now starting with airblades. My experience with rifle comes from a clinic I attended for 3 days at a school that is no longer providing the clinics, unfortunately. It is also not a surprise that, much to others' apparent chagrin, that you know technique with some variants on what others are taught. In my eyes, there is no right or wrong, it's just based on the foundation of who has been teaching the team over the years.
    I was taught not to dip before a single, but I see no issues with that for what you are doing here. After all, you are not some WGI or DCI spokesperson trying to say that is how the technique has to be done! It's just what your team does!
    Sorry you have to deal with the ignorance! I really learned a lot from this video so thank you!

    I'm in a fairly small school, and we hardly have money to buy new silks let alone new rifles, so we're using rag tag old ones from the 80's and the band's uniforms we got in the 80's but were hand me downs from when they were new 10 years prior. Your videos are super helpful in teaching as we havent used rifles since 2005.

    My guard isn’t allowed to use rifles in our shows because they’re not worth as many points as 6-foots and ballad flags. SOOOOO I bought my own and a couple other guard members and I are learning rifle drills together. This video was super helpful in helping us defy our DM and coaches and learn weapon line. (I swear to god we WILL get at least rifles into our show at some point)

    • @cupcakecat1745
      @cupcakecat1745 6 лет назад +1

      AjxCamera hi! the reason your nose is coming towards you is that you might be spinning at an angle, or you’re bringing the rifle closer to you while spinning. if it’s spinning at an angle, it might be because you’re preping at an angle. remember to prep straight up and down. if you are bringing the rifle closer to you, remember to push it away from you.
      i hope i helped! best of luck!! ♥️

    I have to use a 30 pound military issued rifle. So it’s not as easy with a rifle like yours, it would be helpful if u did the Side spin with a heavier rifle.

      Unfortunately that’s JROTC. I’m a color guard practitioner not a JROTC member. If you want to know how to spin properly on that rifle, I’d suggest maybe following Matthew Wendling. He’s fantastic at stuff like that.
