  • Sabre basics tutorial video: includes spins (right and left + close), double time, triple time, alternates, hilt singles, and blade singles. I didn't try to face the back during this video so be sure to know that when I say right or left I mean your right or left and if I give a direction but don't say whether it's right or left that you reverse it. Easy enough right? Happy spinning!
    And here is the message from my friend in the Scouts! Please donate to him guys! Thanks!!!
    Hello everyone, I hope your day has been good so far! As you may know I am marching with Madison Scouts this summer and I am very excited to start. With this great opportunity I have to pay $2900 to march this summer! I'm posting about to ask if anyone would like to help me. The link I'm posting will take you to website to pay directly to my dues
    www.madisongear.com/Member-Tui...
    1. Click the yellow "buy" box and then Enter My name in marching member
    2. And put the quantity you would like to donate in the "quantity box"
    3.Then add your purchase to your cart and follow the payment directions
    4. It is VERY important that you make it out to Andrew Devries so that the money goes toward his account! Do not fill in your own name! Thank you!
    -Anything to help is very appreciated! Even a dollar. Thank you again!

    Thank you so much for this video! It was beyond helpful. I’m in my high schools color guard which isn’t very big. This year is the biggest it’s ever been with 11 people. And a total of 88 people all together including the guard and the band. We haven’t had a show that included Sabre during the short time “two seasons” I have been in the color and winter guard program “I just finished freshman year” going into sophomore year I made color guard captain. I really dunno how but I’m excited to take a lead. With that being said I and two others are the most experienced on the team and with never spinning Sabre in a show ever we were short of time during weapon and dance auditions that my instructor just put the three most experienced on Sabre line without an audition. “This kinda makes her sound mean now that I read it but I promise she’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met.” I had never even touched a Sabre until she put it in my hands. I think it’s lovely but honest to god I had no idea what to do with it. This video was very helpful! I am what my color guard likes to call a Rifle Queen. I love big tosses. I can toss a solid 8. I spend the majority of my time on my weapon. Also my guard does not tape the Sabre. We do have the same Sabre tho which appears to be a King.

    Just saw this video. Hope you're having fun marching with the Madison Scouts! I marched with Pride of Cincinnati Drum Corps (1982-1984), Suncoast Sound Drum Corps (1985-1987). I also marched Pride's Winter Guard in the beginning years (1985-1989). Good luck this season and cherish every moment. Life goes fast after aging out. 😀

    This is so helpful, at my high school we have a drill team called wooden soldiers and the captain gets a Sabre. Most of the time, the captain does very similar stuff. As captain this year, I really want to spice it up, this video helped so much.

    • @DemyxTracer
      @DemyxTracer  6 лет назад +2

      Beginners typically start with a 36” but if you want the advanced blade I suggest a 39”

    I have a question for you. I’m
    not new to guard this year b because of some joint issues i had to drop out and this is my first year getting back into it after my surgery. I’m on rifle for indoor but what i really want to do is sabre. However, my coaches play favorites and the sabre line is made up of the three favorites. (They’re good people the coaches just don’t really hold tryouts for anything). What should I do? I want to do sabre more than i want to do flag and rifle combined. Anything you think i should do?

    • @DemyxTracer
      @DemyxTracer  4 года назад +1

      Honestly that’s a difficult situation. I’d firstly tell the instructors point blank you’d like to spin sabre and see where it goes from there.

    • @allygibson3232
      @allygibson3232 4 года назад

      Nicholas Carter Okay thank you! I just wasn’t sure if I should or not. For this indoor season there were no tryouts they just placed and I wanted to tryout for sabre but i wasn’t given an option. I’ll ask for this coming outdoor season!

    • @DemyxTracer

      Just because you prefer one over the other does not make it better. I prefer Colorguard however that’s because it’s my passion. I won’t ever be passionate about JROTC because it holds no interest for me, but as important Colorguard is to me JROTC is important to someone else. They hold EQUAL status to one another. Neither is more or less important or better than the other.
