I find myself enjoying the glengoyne profile... i have not tried the 10 but the 12 was quite nice. I think the 10 is under $80 at yhe LCBO. If you want someying interesting on a budget Te Bheag (pronounced Chey Vek, it's Gaelic) is a high malt content blend thats non chill filtered and i believe bottled at 43%. That is around $45... and Bowmore 12 is quite tasty for the price if you want to venture into something more smoky..

Started drinking the 12 today, its my first wiskey and I added some water. It’s nice but boring like you said
Boring especially if you add water to stuff that's already watery
