My partner and I have been cruising on our Outremer 5X ( 60’) for the past 5 years and we were in our mid 60’s when we started . Planing to downsize now though as it is getting a little more physical as we are now turn the corner and celebrated our 70th birthday
BTW. I was feeling like my plans were hopeless as I watched you go over all your gear and how much you were spending on the boat in previous videos. My budget is nothing like yours, and i'm on my own. I really needed to hear that I should still have hope. Thank you so much. :)
You Guys are absolutely awesome! ... Please don't lose the dream. Keep them coming. I just love your whole combined adventurous philosophy. Thank you! for all the vicarious enjoyment you guys give me. Much appreciated. You rock.
What an amazingly gorgeous area you are in now. I love your style of filming in which you do the walk and talk as you go about your day. It makes 20-minute question and answer vlogs so much more watchable. I wish more channels would adopt this method. Thanks for so openly sharing your lives with us!
I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks.. you make sailing around the world look very appealing! In true Canadian fashion, you make the world look like a amazing place; great outlook on things. It’s a good distraction from all the craziness in America right now.
Just wanted to let you guys know how valuable your videos are to people who are in the planning (dreaming?) phase. You are fun to watch and your videos are very entertaining but it's the detailed information you provide that makes you unique and a cut above the other channels. I've decided to become a patron because I really respect and admire your knowledge and experience and appreciate your willingness to share with us wannabes. It's easy to imagine you guys as one of the top channels in a couple years. So glad I found your channel. Cheers from snowy and freezing NJ, USA.
Im excited to see your Philippine adventures. Here are my top recommendations on what to do and places to go in PH. - Siargao Island(Learn to surf and feel the island vibes). - Britania Islands - Bohol Island(See the chocolate hills - has to be on summer, see the smallest monkey) - Visit only if your nearby. - Coron - El nido - Palawan - Eat balut - Cebu (Southern part is full of waterfalls, about 50 of them but I would only recommend the biggest falls) * Aguinid Falls * Kawasan Falls * Inambakan Falls * Mantayupan Falls --- Badian Canyoneering ( A must thing to do) --- Oslob Swim Whale Sharks (A good youtube content about on how animals are used as a tourist attraction. Its a love and hate thing). There are a lot of things to do in PH, this is only just a small recommendation :) ENJOY, I love your sailing channel (Im a filipino btw).
Awe, you guys are awesome, bam, bam, bam something else, something else, how can you possibly get bored? You can’t, it’s hard keeping up with you! I understand how hard it must be in the middle of nowhere, but what you choose is the best! You are, hands down the best sailing channel there is! I told my nephew about your videos and he watches you too, makes for great conversation! Take care you two!!!
You two are so dang cute together. I have been living/working in your country for nine months now, in -58C winter weather, and it is definitely driving me to stop this life style and get out there with you guys. Thanks for sharing so much info which helps make decision making much easier. Be blessed.
I love Canadians. You are a terrific couple seeming to complicate each other. Your videos are by far the best I have seen! I spent many years in Quebec, and have been in every province. Born in Maine on the Quebec border. I love to hear you say "Out and about". I have learned so much from just the few videos I have seen. I want to see all of them. My wife and 3 kids are where she grew up, Baguio City. I want to return with a Cat and you have answered so many questions I didnt even know to ask.
I found the most amazing thing about sailing at night was the luminescence in the wake, it is hypnotic. Like jewels cascading from under the stern of the boat..
I just started to watch your videos and recently subscribed 👋🏼🤗 I always wanted to try out sailing on catamaran and the vibe the positivity the feeling of freedom which is come through of ( at least for me ) every each videos I watched. It's amazing!!!
Been watching you guys for awhile now. I grew up not far from you guys in Sooke, currently on the other coast but I'm only about 5 years away from doing the same thing so your channel has been great for ideas and advice. Thanks to you both for keeping us entertained
I love you guys! I love your videos! I love the fact that I catch myself smiling after every video! I know boats and have been around boats all my life but have absolutely no idea how to sail. Yet my wife and I will do this when we retire. Thank you for the inspiration and insight!! P.s. I would just love the extra hair to actually have a bad haircut.
Sometimes the only greens are a pumpkin? Guess I need to do some sailing :) Love your channel and that cave was a bit spooky. Fair winds. Thank you for another great video.
When u cruise a love doing it of course, u r in the here and now most of the time...that's the main secret which is no secret at all..nothing is taken for granted ..from water, food, Nature, etc...love nahoa videos because you really enjoy every minute of it...bests
Hey Ben, Miss Ashley. Love your channel. You to have been a big inspiration in kicking me in the ass to live out my life time dream of living aboard. At 56 yrs i think its time. Am looking for that right vessel.. ( fingers crossed ) Love your 410 and what you have done to her.. Safe travels you two. And many more worderful adventures..
First of all, I wanted to extend my condolences to you Ben for the loss of your father. Having lost my dad a couple of years ago, I know what it is like to lose a parent. Secondly I wanted to shout out to all those who are viewing Ben and Ashley's videos. I can see that this one received 15,000 views, but only 1,300 pressed the "like" button. Come on guys, one of the ways you can support them is to tell them (and RUclips itself) that you liked the video. It helps their search engine optimization (SEO) and helps their RUclips channel overall. So don't be lazy and watch the video. Press that LIKE button!!! One of the costs of sailing around the world happens to be medical, and I have been wanting to bring up a subject to both of you for a while. I know you love to eat fresh-caught fish (and I have been really envious of you). But I've stopped eating a lot of fish (especially Tuna and Swordfish) because of the high mercury content. I've been doing a lot of research on mercury and suffice it to say, it is not pretty. Anyway, when I saw you guys eating Mahi I looked it up. And while it is not as high as tuna, it is in the middle of the pack on the list of fish containing mercury. And so I thought you might want to know. I thought you (and others out there with the same concern) also might be interested in knowing the mercury content of the fish you are eating. Cat Boat Adventures Yes you are correct and totally agree. Important is to learn all the fruits, herbs and veggies they can find around the islands. Fruits with flesh and if organic with seeds are extremely important for health and anti-aging. Especially if all animal meat is cut out. Everyone does need a Hawaii shirt. Let’s make it fashion again.
@@Kcoads Actually I am from Canton. My boat (and where my new RUclips channel is based from) is Padanaram, South Dartmouth. Buzzards Bay is where I do most of my sailing. Sorry Dan and Ashley...shameless plug
@@capnbilll2913 Hi Can BillL. I think you are partially correct. But actually I think the mercury is all over the world now and is embedded in every fish in the ocean. But most particularly in the larger fish like tuna, swordfish etc, because they are at the top of the food chain. Again, Ben and Ashley should get their blood checked to see what concentration of mercury they have in their system. If it is high, it is very dangerous.
Super enjoy watching you two. Great vibrations you guys. If someone walked on my boat and had the passion for navigation, route planning and just passionate about sailing and maintaining the dang boat....Id be in Pirate heaven. . Enjoy each other. Thanks.

I would imagine that there is no way to plan absolutely everything on these epic voyages. You’ll probably just end up winging a lot of the stuff and dealing with the situations and scenarios as you encounter them. The most admirable part is the courage to take the leap and realize that risk and pleasure always go hand in hand. The trick is to be experienced enough to mitigate the risks without destroying the fun. It’s also fair to say that this is not an undertaking for a couple that suffers from major personality clashes and irreconcilable incompatibilities. You really need to love or at least seriously like someone, enjoy their company in close quarters for extended periods of time, and trust in their abilities, good sense, and judgment, before sharing an experience of this nature.
Love the way you guys did this Q&A! A lot of my other sailing faves do them static, just sitting there talking to the camera, no imagination used, blah blah blah Great job! Though I think you kind of ducked the subject of YOUR actual boat maintenance costs...

In Canada you have to have a license to operate the VHF radio (it's the law). You also need your pleasure craft license to operate any boat (online open book course).

Hello Nahoa Dudes, I would love to see a night time Star segment, if you were able to get it to show up on video, as amazing as you described it. I'm so glad to see y'all back to having fun, I love y'all.

Hello Nahoa Dudes, I would love to see a night time Star segment, if you were able to get it to show up on video, as amazing as you described it. I'm so glad to see y'all back to having fun, I love y'all.
You guys should took the navagation course at palau community collage..that course teaches you not to use CAMPAS and GPS but use wind and stars to navigate in big open ocean..
