In this recent interview, Rudy Blair Entertainment Media rudyblairmedia.com spoke with JD about living the life of a rockstar, the ups and downs while struggling with his own mental illness, what it was like to compete on Rockstar INXS, his life on the road, how he and the INXS finally parted ways, addressing rumours he was once again homeless , and his new life on the East Coast that includes family, upcoming new music and his new recording label “Way More Music”.

JD Fortune is still one of my favorite vocalists. I'm a looooooonnnngggg fan of INXS and I never compared him to Michael Hutchence. JD is his own talent!! I saw him perform live w/INXS and was so captivated.

He was such a knob on the rock star INXS show but I admit he did good for the band with that album.
I'm really glad he's doing good now and happy. He was putting on an act during the show but this seems like the real him and he's right about addiction and depression. I denied it for many years but it's not make believe.

I gave this man a fist bump from my work van window with his arm out the window of his tour bus going 70 miles an hour after a concert the next day in San Jose CA that I attended. You can't make that shit up, I will never forget it I wonder if he remembers.

Watching your interview reminded me of the good times she andvi watching all the talent that everyone was bringing. @@nicktalk8589 Two of his fellow contestants. While on Rockstar INXS, an episode featured two groups taking the music for Pretty Vegas and come up with vocals. JD didn't like what his co writers were coming up with. He went off on his own and came up with what became the official release of PV. On the contract they all signed, they ALL would have received royalties. I thought his co contestants f@cked him

@@nicktalk8589 In the booklet for the Switch CD, Marty Casey and Jordis Unga are also credited for the lyrics on "Pretty Vegas." I remember clearly that they had nothing to do with it. It's a shame they got their way.

I can confirm the South America thing.I went to Columbia and they had guards with machine guns at the ATMs..beautiful country, but I won't go back. Love you JD. Just out of the hospital 9 days with covid pneumonia. Running across this cheered me up. I still go back and listen to Rock Star INXS. I remember recording the show when I wasn't able to watch right away...good times!!!

JD, I thought one of his most underrated performances on the rockstar INXS show Was his cover of Alanis Morissette Hand In My Pocket. The song took on an additional meaning was it speed, ferocity and spirited delivery. Love you, JD FORTUNE!!

This was a great interview because it gives an emphasis fame and fortune has a price. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park when he was a temp lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and did a side project Dead by Sunrise couldn't cope with inner demons.
I thought Afterglow was JD's and INXS best work and it was a closing of an era where music main source will be social media instead of stories and MTV

good to see him looking clean and appearing on the straight and level...i found him awful in inxs but can understand how and why it might have all been overwhelming to be thrust into 'stardom' without having really earned it from doing the hard yards...and i can empathise with the whole trip and how it could bend the average person out of shape...i hope he throws himself into living a creative life and doesn't waste the chance for having deep insight into himself as a musician

And only thing to keep me goin on doen,t matter how many try over again to destroing me is my children. But the boys and gentlemen are more week becose they need much more respect, protection and love than us. I am happy that Mister recovery. His beautifull soul keep him smiley and i respect the smartness to chouse onether way and change his life. I am sorry about painfull accident. Mister are too good becose frankly him always bave more right to put the producer of this show to give him some action and more money for life. Great people.i am onored to live in his time.. Joy that him in to my life today ...Without a treasure love of his dog for him could,nt possible rezist.i dont uderstand how they are sow cruel. I thought it was because of the drugs, not being able to work in a team and being late to recording sessions. I remember in an interview with the band members that they removed him because he was falling into the same path that Michael was and they didn’t want to have to go through that again

He had a 2nd chance, and blew it for drugs, again. The scenario isn't on INXS fault. They have since retired.
Very talented and good looking dude. He definitely had the minerals. Just an impossible situation. Michael Hutchence is pretty much irreplaceable. But for the situation he was in, he knocked it out the park.

I ask, looking at this video if JD fortune knew the future and what happened with INXS and him. I wonder if he would have realized he is such a star in his own right that he didn't need them. I think instead of the six years in INXS, those years could have been used to build his career and not sustain INXS.

INXS gave JD a 2nd chance. They weren't playing with a druggie. It was his decision to go back to drugs. As family men and Michael was dabbling in drugs amongst fast life, they didn't want to deal with it again. Good to hear JD isn't on rock bottom now.
Really? Inxs failed both JD & Hutch I'm the duty of care stakes, they're ruthless opportunists. Why did they take on JD to begin with, being such grown up family men? Only to abuse & betray him in the end. Hypocrite?
@@righthand7965 JD was living in his car before Rock Star, INXS gave him a huge chance. He Fn blew it, tossed out, back nto car. After a while they gave him a 2nd chance. We saw them in Vegas. Months later left in an Asian airport for using drugs again. INXS bent over backwards for JD.
JD made INXS relevant again. He was the ONLY one who could sing those INXS songs. Ciaran Gribbin, the guy who came along after him, was talented. He just wasn't a frontman. I think INXS realized this and that's why they just stopped and announced their retirement in the MIDDLE of a tour.
My thought while watching Ciaran was "look at this nice little schoolboy singing these sexy rock songs." He wasn't good, was awkward, and as you said, they just retired in the middle of the tour. I would love to see JD be the one to keep INXS music alive while also putting out some great new tunes.

Shortly before INXS & JD Fortune parted ways, I caught a show of theirs.
It was the WORST concert I had ever seen. And it was EVERYONE’s fault (not just Fortune).
There was not one man on that stage even pretending to be into what they were doing (complacency and a heavy does of drugs). Most of the audience was super choked.
So, it was wise to move along.
JD, I rooted for you...To take over for Michael I accepted you....AND YOU BLEW IT! GRRRrrrrr......
Well MH himself was on drugs which definitely would have contributed to whatever happened to him. There is nothing romantic about drugs.
I watched Rock Star INXS every episode and JD was such a complete knob. LoL. I admit pretty Vegas was a good song though.

Some of my favorite songs from INXS were from that first album JT did with the band. I absolutely love his voice but on Rockstar I could see he seemed over confident and cocky. He was a total asshole! I'm sure it came from an insecurity. I hope he figures out what it is that makes him self destructive, and he becomes humble and returns to INXS because when he was part of them they were my favorite band.
