Yes, it has become so ugly and mechanical! And for these reasons I believe women can definitely wear unitards now, the beauty is gone. Also when the age was increased I believe that changed the skills. Women's curves definitely impact a lot of this sport.💗

I am Romanian and have to admit, this is a fantastic performance, but it's not perfect. Lavinia was not perfect either, so you need to go with a fine comb through their technical elements (beyond my pay grade). But for artistic impression, Onodi was as good as gymnastic gets.

@@ripsumrall8018 Ballet shouldn't be a sport, but top level ballet actually requires a high level of athleticism in itself. What I am saying is the difficulty is the main focus now and the artistry nowadays is an afterthought. There's very few gymnasts these days I consider to have good artistry.

There were a few gymnast who won medal or finished in the first 6 in big international competitions, but was just two spectacular women gymnast Ónodi Henrietta and Keleti Ágnes. Keleti Ágnes won 5 gold medal at the Olympics. 1952 floor, 1956 floor, uneven bars, balance beam and women's team portable apparatus (The event was the foundation for rhythmic gymnastics.) Keleti is in good health and she will be 100 years old in january of 2021! She is the oldest living Olympic champion.

Today’s gymnast’s focus primarily on difficult tumbling moves with no sense of style, grace or beauty that seamlessly pulls a performance together….. Beautifully done, bravo!
This is so unfair on today’s gymnasts! They have both artistry and incredibly tough routines. I don’t understand this lamenting of bygone ways. It’s just wrong and petty to take anything away from today’s gymnasts.
Very classic and elegant gymnast, plus a very attractive woman. It would be interesting to see how she looks today. Still gorgeous, I suspect. (Just looked her up, she lives in the USA: married with 3 beautiful children. Lovely family.)
After she left the sport, she gained a lot of weight- she said she had stopped measuring herself after 110 pounds ( here she is some 90)plus she lost her father, so after her first Olympic Games, she wasn't lucky. She regained her form for Atlanta , but than she unfortunately developped thyroid gland problem - I think, because the huge weightloss.

She wasn't forced, she had many opportunities at home, too. Actually, Olympic champions are far too pampered in my country. We have the only country in the world that has a lifetime financial supporting system for our champions and for their coaches. Plus, the nation pays for most of their athletic career , too. nt

It's better to fix the root cause of being fat and not force yourself to starve. Gradually, you will lower the body weight baseline to a lower point and lose all the fat healthily.

I miss gymnastics of the past, the floor and beam were filled with such graceful moves. Henrietta was a great gymnast.
