I have the Hoist V-1. I bought it ten years ago and have put over 1,000 hrs. of workout-time on it. If I ever need another gym, I'll go with the V-4. I love those outrigger arms!
How do the press arm feel for the presses? Do you really feel you get a dumbbell like experience? how do the pec flys feel on it? Do you prefer the handles or the strap handle attached? thank you.
I really like the articulating arms on this gym. They're just very convenient. The straps will give the most dumbbell like workout. Still not the total range of motion that you get with dumbbells...but for a selectorized home gym, I think it's a good compromise
Thanks! Good luck with the assembly.👍 All those cables can be pretty daunting, but the manual does a nice job showing how they are all routed. I'd be glad to try & answer any questions you might have.
@@KevinWidomski Thank you :) For those reading this who might be having some trouble snaking the cable thru the leg extension rail (the cable gets stuck behind one of those three bolts connectors welded to the rail). Here's how I solved it. *The cable was very curved and I kept straightening it until it finally snaked past the bolt post*
I have sold the unit, so I can't measure the width without the hi-lo pulley, but the Hoist website says that the V4 gym with the Roc-it leg press is 82.25 wide by 82.50 deep.
Great video - thank you. Apologies in advance, I already own the V4 elite base station, but I would really appreciate some brief input on just a couple of things. I want to get the leg press but I am uncertain whether it will be enough weight to reach muscular fatigue by approximately 8-12 reps. I know this is impossible for you to answer, for me specifically -- but could you please comment for yourself (we look to be approximately the same size). Also, how much width does it add to the unit - measured from the edge of the same side press arm. I have looked at dimensions online but difficult to tell from that specific mark. Thank you very much. Excellent piece of equipment - I love mine. Just buy it folks...well worth it...chest press, chest flye, shoulder press, lat pulldown, back row, leg extension, leg curl, tricep press-downs, functional workouts on the pulley, leg press, plus many more. Each one of those machines at the gym would cost thousands, and although it's obviously not commercial gym quality...it's pretty close.
Hi Andrew, I can confirm that this leg press has a 1.5:1 weight ratio. So with a 200# stack, you can press up to 300#. For me, I can get to muscular fatigue by 12 reps, but I have not been working my legs as religiously as I should be so your mileage may vary. The farthest part of the leg press from the main unit is the actual foot plate. It's tough to get an exact measurement, but it looks pretty darn close to 3 feet from the left side of the press arm. I'm selling this because I bought an Inspire Fitness M4, which is very difficult to find, as it's been out of production for 8 years or so. The M4 gym is great, but the leg press is not as nice as the Hoist one.
Hi, This Hoist V4 Elite set was a VERY nice gym. There were definitely things about it that I liked better than the Inspire M4. Namely the V-ride leg press was much better than the Inspire leg press, and I really liked the articulating bench arms. It's not fully isolateral capable like the M4, but it's a beast of a gym. It's also built like a battleship. The Inspire is a more precision machine, and I liked the flexibility of the Inspire bench. I also liked the Inspire Hi-Lo pulley better as well as the split lat tower. Both the Inspire M4 and the Hoist V4 Elite are absolutely super high end gyms, and you can't go wrong with either!
Hi.. Thank you for the video. I have the hoist mi7 smith, and I plan on ordering the v4 elite as well. I’m trying to decide if I have room for the leg press. Do you mind giving me the measurements of width of the room? I am using the room as reference for my 10 foot wide 1 car garage. I see the specs online but seeing the machine in a room setting is very helpful. Thank you.
@@gutenbird Hi. I ended up getting a treadmill instead and don’t have enough room in my gym for both. It’s been getting hot in central cali so running outside isn’t always practical.
I found an Inspire fitness M4 gym with leg press that I got in like new condition for a very good price. The M4 is no longer available from Inspire and it's very hard to find them pre-owned. It has some features that the Hoist didn't have. This was not an easy decision and in some ways I do regret selling the Hoist set.
Officially...no, other than the 2.5 & 5# adders that go on top...but I'm pretty sure there is a way that extra weight could be pinned to the stack if they were small enough to not interfere with the shroud, or if the shroud was removed.

Id rather have the one with the cables behind it. You can feel the stretch throughout the whole rep.

Do you have an images of how you connected the cables. The manual is not at all helpful in my opinion.
What are the dimensions with the leg press and chest press but without the high low pulley? The dimensions of your yours?

Did you buy the V4?

Can extra plates be pinned on to the stack?

Im interested for purchase. Is the item still available?
Sorry, this has been sold.
