It's unreal, we have ALL this modern technology, make a great metronome like this one with great features, but they don't put a SAMPLE in there of a nice sounding wood block or clave or something? They can't include a more tolerable sound? When you listen to a metronome for HOURS and HOURS every day for WEEKS and WEEKS practicing something, the damned wrist watch alarm sound really doesn't cut it. I think these companies can do better. Obviously nobody designing these has actually practiced FOR REAL knowing how long one would have to tolerate these annoying beeps. Even those Seiko metronomes and the Matrix metronomes at least have a tolerable sound that's not annoying. Too bad, looks like a great metronome too.

Could not agree more. How have we regressed from the clean, audible "blap" sound of the 1980s/90s Seiko dial metronomes? I don't get why people are okay with these shrill chirping things.

@@batlin Totally. I guess the 'chirp' sound is sort-of ok if it's on a pocket metronome or something you keep in your case if you may practice on the fly somewhere, maybe, but I seriously don't think people that REALLY practice often with a metronome are putting up with that sound (maybe a few?). Those aren't typically sold to full-time practitioners--they can't be, and in the music shops we sold almost all the 'chirpy' sound ones to younger students and beginners etc, but real musicians almost always had either an analog w/a pendulum or a high quality more expensive electronic w/a block sound.
I actually have a small collection of electric and battery metronomes. I have a quirky-thing for them lol! My fav's are my two vintage TUBE metronomes (yes, TUBE metronomes!). I have a couple battery op' Japanese designs that are nice, including a Seiko, but I collect those because they ALL have a very tolerable sound and some are very agreeable. They're closer to wood block clicks. But again I can't believe with all the technology they put into these things they can't get ONE pleasant sounding sample as a click. Who the F** is designing these things?!

@@jsv438 vacuum tube metronomes?? Now that sounds like it should have a whole video dedicated to the topic :)
I have an old clockwork thing metronome too but prefer the old dial types. Might pick up a Seiko SQ50. Very odd indeed that most shops only seem to sell the chirpy pocket tuners or bulky mechanical metronomes...

Does this let you have a silent measure followed by a measure with a beep?

Why is it with so many metronomes, they miss that we need to clip it firmly on the guitar or keyboard as a top priority - doesn't matter if it has features to print money if it's not easy to use while you play.

Hello. Thank you for this demo. Regarding the unit's odd time capability...the ads say that it can handle 17 beats per measure....but will it actually work for, e.g., 17/16, where the feel is often that of a 4/4 bar minus one sixteenth? Any info you might have would be appreciated!

The display is really hard to read and instructions lousy. How do you set the time signature you want?
