I had my tkr Dec 20 it was hell for the first couple weeks. Now I'm walking a mile or two a day had six weeks of PT it really made a difference I didn't start PT for a couple weeks afraid it would hurt to much. I still have some pain which I use ice pack for. Nothing like the bone on bone discomfort daily. I'm glad I did it.

I agree never have knee replacement. I regret it. The constant nerve pain, 1” leg length difference, constant stiffness, my desire to do all the activities before is constantly frustrated and it constantly burns.

I had knee replacement on August 2023 my pain is unbelievable no Gabapentin or lyrica PT is very painful my knee freezes and I can’t do any of my normal activities at home. He has done MRI, Bone Scan and the only thing they told me I have small bone spur but everything around the knee hurts constantly and it gives while walking, I need knee replacement in my other knee and with the problem that I am having I don’t think I want to live in pain. I am 72 years old female and I do have great pain tolerance but this is too much. I wish they can help me. I don’t see any improvement. I give up 😢

Thank you for the very informative video. The Ortho surgeon tells me everything fine and the PT cannot figure out why I have the pain on side of my leg especially when I turn on side with the affected side up, it is so painful, difficult and heavy to lift leg and I am 4 months out. I didn't have this problem with the other knee I had done. I experienced the pain behind knee immediately when they got me up after surgery and fell twice because it would give out. Hopefully as you said it will get better with time.

Sylvia, I too have had a harder time with my 2nd knee surgery (12/11/23). Nerve pain, weakness & buckling. Happy that ROM was easy to recover after both replacements. Praying that in time I make a full recovery with the right knee. I certainly don't regret getting both of them replaced. Recovery us no joke! 😱

I think some of my lateral knee pain is referred pain from sciatica. My Orthopedic said he thinks it’s torn meniscus. But I also get electrical burning pain in the outer sides of my thighs when standing too long. So if I have TKR someday, I still could have the nerve pain after the surgery if it’s not my meniscus after all. Just hoping it doesn’t make it worse!

Only been 7 weeks post op. I felt the nerve pain/sensation start almost immediately. It’s weird because I could be all fine just some irritation related to it, then I go to bed, get my legs up on pillows so my leg and feet are well above my heart to work on swelling and the BOOM my nerve goes off the chart! Starts tingling, burning, SUPER sensitive to even the weight of my bed sheet! The best I can do it try to reach down and light rub all around the area and it may take 1/2 to 1 hours for it to calm down. Such a bummer. Really hoping 6 months to a year it’s all behind me. Having had over 5 major hip surgeries in my lifetime I am quite used to nerve damage and numbness, but none have caused me irritation/pain. Oh well

I have good range of motion. But if I sit with my knee at 90 degrees for too long, I have to stretch it out as it gets a ripping, feeling or stiff achy feeling. I can bend to 128 degrees and I am at 0 extension. If I extend all the way, I feel a pinching feeling, but not on the surface of my skin. It feels internal like the metal parts are pinching something. I went to the surgeon and every else is fine. And I do not want to open up the knee and look for problems. I also feeling pinching when I go down steps. It's on the rights side. I have a lot of lumpy tissue, so I bought cups to see if that will help. I may be stuck with this. My knee is stable though and the hardware feels normal. I have a ceramic knee that is lighter weight than the titanium.

Hi Joann, We're very sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with your knee, and we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. It's important to note that the challenges you've described are not uncommon after knee replacement surgery. Many individuals go through similar experiences during their recovery journey.
It's great to hear that you have a good range of motion. You've taken the right step by consulting with your surgeon to rule out any major issues, and it's reassuring that everything else seems fine, and your knee is stable. We understand your hesitation about opening up the knee for further exploration, especially given your concerns.
Your decision to try using cups for the lumpy tissue is a proactive approach, and we hope it brings you some relief. Sometimes, these alternative methods can be helpful in managing discomfort.
In addition to your current efforts, we have a Knee Replacement Playlist that you might find helpful. You can access it here: “Failed Knee Replacement Help”

If you're looking for a more comprehensive approach to your recovery, we do offer a Knee Replacement Program that provides structured guidance and exercises tailored to your needs. Additionally, our coaching services are available for all of our programs, should you require guidance or modifications for the exercises.
Here is a description of the program: The Failed Knee Replacement Recovery Program is a comprehensive program designed to help people with treatment strategies that are effective at helping calm down an irritated knee, then guiding you to treat the root problem that sets up knee arthritis and continues to cause knee pain in a replaced knee joint. This program works even for a revised knee replacement. You will learn:
-Fast ways to reduce knee pain and swelling so you can quickly get to being able to tolerate sleeping and being on your feet more.
-How to gain more motion in your knee joint (if you're missing some motion) without forcing yourself to do aggressive, painful stretches.
-Thorough understanding of the root muscle imbalance so that you can apply the information to your specific life situation.
-How to get the most out of your replaced knee joint while keeping it healthy for the long term so that you never have to go back to another knee surgeon.

Dr. David, I’m two years after a revision surgery for my TKR. Stifness (feeling of a lead ball inside the knee) keeps my ROM at barely 90 degress. I’ve spent a fortune on all kinds of therapy, nerve blocking. Nothing has worked much. I trynti keep on with my life, but there’s no quality of life living this way. Ankles, hips and lower back have started giving me hell. My Dr. diagnosed me with a knee fibrotic tissue issue and recommended another surgery to remove it. I’m terrified of doing it again!! Do you really think the failed TKR program can help me? I’m desperate and have been considering the failed TKR program. Can’t keep living in constant pain, restricted movement, possible nerve damage (numbing and swelling if my ankle and foot). Please! Deppression and anxiety have been the latest and I’m so tired. Can I talk to people who will guide me if I go for the program? Please!😢

At 11 months after surgery I have some sensation on the right bottom side of my knee, but wasn’t able to feel anything after a few after surgery. It’s gotten better, but it’s not 100% better.
It’s also odd that if I touch the left side, I feel sensation on the right side of the knee. And if I lay on it totally, such a weird sensation.

L TKR 9/2015. Textbook surgery. No wear whatsoever on the implants 9 years later. No pain, full range of motion. Very pleased with the outcome. It was a rough 12-16 weeks immediately post-op, I have to be honest. It’s a very invasive surgery and there’s a lot of manipulation to remove the worn knee and to place and align the implants. I am an OR nurse, I know exactly what happens during the procedure. Final comment, lateral patella area is still numb this many years later. Doc says it’ll never come back and I believe he’s correct 😀 R knee on the horizon but not immediately.
