Kuay Teow the name itself is originally Chinese and not Malay. If you go Penang then try Char Kuay Teow (dry and spicy and not saucy) there. Because Malaysia mixed cultural food influence and the Kuay Teow is cooked by difference races in different styles. Some stalls if go to where the cook is Malay then you will see Kuay Teow goreng basah (a bit wet and saucy). Please try the food in Penang especially the Penang Assam (Tamarrind) Laksa and you will taste the difference. 12:34 Having lived in the UK for 7 years in the early 2000s, I can't say I am a big fan of the Brits. However, there is no denying that the British were better colony masters than other European powers that had colonized South East Asia. Two of the most developed countries in SEA are Singapore and Malaysia (as of 2022), both are ex-British colonies. At least the Brits did help in developing the countries they colonized. The Dutch, French, and Spaniards left Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines respectively in shambles.

I'm not sure the exact locations, but the information for the tour is in the description box! Enjoy!

You try neslo ais, means coffee mix with milo, very favoured drink.
Haha! He has been mistaken for an Australian quite a bit, actually.
@@StephandPete haha.😀

12:34 Having lived in the UK for 7 years in the early 2000s, I can't say I am a big fan of the Brits. However, there is no denying that the British were better colony masters than other European powers that had colonized South East Asia. Two of the most developed countries in SEA are Singapore and Malaysia (as of 2022), both are ex-British colonies. At least the Brits did help in developing the countries they colonized.
The Dutch, French, and Spaniards left Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines respectively in shambles.
Yes. At least they only stole our natural resources😅 We also need to thank the British for our multiculturalism.
Ya'll what's in a satay sauce?! How it taste? :D More descriptors please (ps. i know its hard sometimes. i just have never had the sauce be4)
Basically its coarsely ground peanuts, ground dried chilis paste, shallots, sugar, ground dried shrimps, salt. It taste like a mildy spicy, savoury crunchy peanut butter.
Ah, good point! Sometimes I feel like we’re talking too much, and so many of our views come from locals so I forget to explain for others. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for explaining!
The oldest Mosque in Malaysia is Masjid Kampung Laut - 1349
At Nilam Puri, Kelantan. East cost of Malaysia.
Ohhh, thanks for clairfying.
Do it all over again on your own in penang if you can.
We went on the worst food tour I've EVER been on in Penang. I wanted to make a video, but it was so chaotic that I couldn't, and I couldn't recommend it to others (and we were partnering with the company.) I'm editing our Penang vlog now, and we still eat quite a bit, but were super disappointed with the tour. However, we did another tour in KL before we flew out that was AMAZING. That'll be our last video in our Malaysia series.
@@StephandPete that is why i said 'on your own'
1. Asam laksa - air itam market

@@StephandPete sometimes these tour guides wotk together with the stalls to bring tourists there. They did not take you to the best stalls. Fruits are ok as they taste the same everywhere
@@StephandPete very unfortunate because penang is the food capital of malaysia.
Many of these feature in our Penang vlog. You'll have to come back and let us know how we did. ;)
Do not swallow the seed in the mangosteen. Why the food guide guy did not tell you? All fruits have seeds.
Oh we didn't! We've had mangosteen many times before...we knew! Sorry for any confusion and thanks for watching! Siddoz was looking out for us, don't worry. :)
@@StephandPete lucky you didnt or else mangosteen tree will grow in your stomach.
😂
@@StephandPete Lol
You should eat the best durian and you will then appreciate other durian.
any chance you will have a Ramly Burger?
🤭🤭🤭
Original Nasi kerabu 👍👍👍
It was tasty! Thanks so much for watching!!
I didn't notice mangosteen is queen of fruit..its my first time to hear..wassup from sarawak😁😁
I had heard that in Thailand! Apparently it's common!
@@StephandPete ah i see..well glad to hear that 😉stay safe and love your video !
This is because people eat it with durian or it is in season together with the durian. Durian is a heaty fruit whereas mangosteen is a cooling fruit, they counter each other.
you should try the sausage-like keropok lekor and it eat with its sauce, some variation has cheese, personally i prefer the sausage-like one than the crunchy one
Apam balik omg i like it
It was so good!
Did you lisntning that song in the wet markret?thats presnt dctcd doa or pray for evry single mom in this world..the song is call ibu..(mother,mama or mom..)
I didn’t know! Cool!
The Indian man was wrongly informed about history of the mosque..islam has been in malaysia since hundreds of years before the arrival of the British..masjit jamek was not built by British Tetali was built by an Islamic scholar and Islamic trader from India named Jamek.. the mosque was built hundreds of years before the arrival of the British..
Thank you for clarifying! That makes more sense.
