Edda Moser is the definitive Queen: massive, dramatic voice, sound technique and, most importantly, she PLAYS THE CHARACTER. No Bel Canto chirping here - it's death and carnage all the way! :-)
Der helle Wahn. So sauber, gesungen, jeder Ton ein Treffer, und so voller Emotion. Wahrscheinlich lässt sich Mozart im Himmel täglich diese Einspielung vorführen und erschrickt jedes Mal neu über die von ihm in Noten gegossene Ballung von Hass.
Besser geht es nicht, punkt. Natürlich gibt es viele gute Interpretationen, aber für mich ist und bleibt Edda Moser diejenige, die diese Rolle bis ins kleinste Detail souverän beherrscht.
Edda Moser est LA Reine de la Nuit de tous les temps : elle a l'autorité du rôle, de plus la puissance de sa voix s'illustre à la perfection dans les acrobaties mélodiques jusqu'aux sommets difficilement accessible : sa voix ne montre aucune faille, aucune fatigue, aucune faiblesse.
beautiful aria by Mozart and magnificently sung by Edda Moser and she really is a Queen on stage. A rare perfomance of a heavenly piece of music. Only the very great like Cristina Deutekom and Diana Damrau can move me in the same way, each with their own strong points. Still, I am glad this aria is still sung by current soprano's. Their voices may not be as great as Moser's and Deutekom's, but they keep the music alive and give us a chance to actually enjoy it in live performances.
OMG, her F's are so sharp and strong and her acting totally conveys the emotions involved in the scene. She succeeds in balancing between near-perfect singing (the diction is not perfect although she is German) and to-the-point acting without the slight over-acting of Damrau (even though I also love Damrau...). Amazing moment in the world of OPERA :)

OMG this is the most hilarious, amazing DRAGtastic thing i have EVER seen!!! I have been in love with Edda Moser for years from this recording I came across in a collection of various artist and have never been able to visually see her perform it...I am SPEACHLESS
@SilverCircle71 Diese Stimme ist einfach einzigartig. Ich mag normalerweise Opernsoprane nicht - die meisten sind mir zu schrill in den Höhen. Edda Moser hat eine Stimme, mit der kann man Glas schneiden, aber sie tut einem trotzdem nicht in den Ohren weh.
@qarlithooz Te comento yo vi a Moser, haciendo este papel, en el Met, alla por el año 72/73, no recuer- do bien, pero si recuerdo ¡¡¡La Interpretacion, Magnifica y Electrisante, que hacia de el mismo!!! Ni ha- blar del inpacto, que causaba y producia, su voz y la forma de cantar, este dificilisimo papel; Juro que las ovaciones que recibia esta artista eran apabullantes. Por suerte la vi dos veces, en este papel, y en la misma temporada. Un gusto que coincidamos Saludos.

Aber nach der Ansicht dieser Aufnahme bin ich mir sicher zu wissen an wem sich Diana Damrau bei der Interpretation der Arie orientiert hat - zurecht und auch sehr gelungen, aber ein Korn mehr auf der Goldwaage läßt diese sich zu Frau Moser neigen. Ich verneige mich vor beiden Königinnen. Bravo.
FABULOUS! Where is you find this video clip? It's so great to see Moser in action. I was too young to see her perform. (Yeah, it looks pre-recorded and made for TV, but it's exciting to watch her.) Although I love L. Popp, and others are very good, Moser is the Ultimate Queen for me! Thank you !!!

Brilliant voice but you must see Diana Damrau as Queen of the Night on RUclips. Her acting is superb, her voice, body language and the costume, spectacular. The definitive Queen in my opinion.
