These are excellent ideas for custom maps imo. To me it has the same concept as not having certain resources in certain campaigns. Really cool and creative approach that these mappers have.
And it's also really cool to see Caesar being rejuvenated with both augustus as well as these custom maps.
Yeah the missing buildings really changes up how you play this game.
I will NEVER get tired of these.

I like the theme of no forums, it makes it so that you can only tax one block or so with the Senate (Patricians)
The limiting of buildings is making these maps more interesting for sure. Glad you're enjoying these!
In regards to fish not stockpiling in the granary at @58:45, markets for whatever reason ignore the stockpile command for anything in the granary, but they will follow the stockpile order for anything inside warehouses. This behavior exists in vanilla as well, although the Augustus devs probably should add that as a toggleable option if they havent already.
Oof, this map starts out so tight! I'm not sure I could manage such a jagged little coast. Good to see some diversity compared with the vanilla maps and really push the limit of what a Caesar 3 map can be.
These new maps do make things really interesting, the campaign never went too far off from standard settings.
Hey Zakh, I want to thank you for all the content and tutorials you create. Today I finally beat the game (peaceful walk through on vanilla) and I defently would not have made it alone! Thanks to you i got to experience for the first time Luxury Palaces and patricians and their snob looking down at the plebs. I remember myself about 15 years ago as a 10 year old child playing this game on my dad's PC and struggling so much even on the first few levels. We built cities so interconnected, without gatehouses and with no clear loops it gives me goosebumps now at how inefficient it was ahah I remember doing like a big 5x5 square of only roads to plaza it up because it looked so good and reminded me of a nice square where people could hang out

Question, you seem to be using a mod, what is it called? Does it work with the GOG version of C3?
Glad I could help! Yeah there are 2 modded versions you can play. One is called Julius, which just modernises the engine and UI, but the game is basically the same. The other is Augustus, which is heavily modded with tons of gameplay changes and additions. Both work with the GOG version. If you have plenty of time, I'd recommend using Julius first because Augustus is getting into remake territory at this point, it's a very different game and much harder.

I always thought you could sort of tell, about where the invasion was going to attack from, based on the position of the distant battles path on the world map. For instant the distant battles on this map were on the east side of the city on the world map, so probably hitting the NE or SE edge of the city map.
Or is the distant battles markers unrelated to the invasion point entry location?
I thought so too for a while, but then one of the campaign enemies turned up from the other side of the map from where I expected them. So yes, they are unrelated.
try placing the shipyard on one of the islands
Why not simply import extra food? You don't need too much of it and you have the money to do it.
Oh man, even seeing the zoomed out view of the map gave me anxiety..and then I proceed to check the clear requirements, double anxiety attack..
Caesar 3 is still unique...
Oh, that river must be the Rhine, it makes sense that enemy attacks only from the other bank; the one you start on is Roman territory (but Caesar really wants you to grab some of Germania).
It looks like the Upper Rhine, a region and period that I'll be studying for my Master's! And I got into Roman history because of Caesar 3

That's an option in the newer unstable builds. You can turn it on as a setting.
Just realizing now that the invasion points are the wrong way around. In the map Editor it only sais 1, 2 or 3 and i thought it's first, second and third, but it seems to be a countdown. Have to change the order then befor I can upload it to Heaven.
Right after you opened the sea trade route to import iron and got hit by stormy seas, they also increased the price of iron 🤣 really trying to screw you over. I'm sad you didn't comment or react to the price rise.
Hmm, I just dont like a 3h map broken into many pieces... and with so much in between them...

It's up to the map makers to upload these maps and unfortunately this map isn't on Caesar Heaven right now. Besides this map though, there is a whole Augustus map section on Caesar Heaven if you want new maps.

@@sandor8022 Gold mines depend on the map having gold. Cart Depots are part of the latest Augustus unstable build, you have to make sure you're on the latest version. More than 6 legions you need to build the Mars Grand Temple monument.
Where can we get these maps from?
It's up to the creators to upload them. Unfortunately this one isn't on Caesar Heaven.
Why do people prefer Caesar 3 over Caesar 4?
Caesar 3 is overall a better game. Caesar 4 is noticeably unfinished and doesn't get good until like 10 missions in. Caesar 3 is also in active development thanks to Augustus.

Invasion -points on the other side of the river seem to be an oversight from the map maker xD
