This rendition actually sounds like the 90s-early 2000s anime ending songs. Sad, wistful, yet funky. It doesn't have the 70-80s sound of City Pop but it doesn't sound too modern either. The intro reminded me of a few Inuyasha ending songs like Every Heart and Come.
