Yes, ignoring filters always makes AI smarter. This is consistent in both image generation and text generation. Image AIs need nudity to learn anatomy, so they understand what part of the human is bones and where the joints are. An AI trained with x-rays and medical diagrams (properly tagged for depth and perspective and angle) would be even better because its knowledge would go more than skin deep. When you make the AI start self-censoring, it can't think of torsos and hips properly anymore, not even to put clothes on them. And the same applies to text models when you give them words they have to avoid saying and opinions they have to avoid having and facts they have to consider hateful, it makes a void in their brains that rots outwards from there to everything else those concepts touch. And the harder you censor the AI, the less functional it becomes as a result, until all it can do is repeat back your own censor criteria.
They way he censors the AI is he replaces what ever word that triggers it into "Filtered." The log he has open still shows what the AI said. So technically nothings being censored on the AI's end but on the output. Kind of like it's having the thought of saying the R-word but say's filtered instead.
It's because the word that was censored is sometimes used as a slur for disabled people basically meaning a worse version of "very stupid" (very simply) °^°
