    Many thanks for another helpful review (I bought the Helion 2 XP50 thermal monocular on the basis of your review and I’ve not been disappointed), when you are using this sight at night what do you use for ranging? The bracketing technique on the sight (the same I think as is on the monocular) would be just too slow.

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  2 года назад

      I can get away with a regular rangefinder generally off a terrain feature. But shooting on a centerfire it's not too bad anyway as most shots are under 150m for my night use.

    • @labor475
      @labor475 2 года назад +1

      Many thanks Nathan, my regular range finder (Hawke LRF 400) can’t really see anything in the dark and I expect you are probably just judging the distance from experience and the size of the target. I see Pulsar offer the Axion XQ38 thermal LRF which would allow for quick target scanning and ranging but it is pretty much the same cost as the sight. The Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XP50 is starting to appear on websites now but the cost is half as much again. An alternative is the PARD T-Pro 12µm 42mm Thermal scope with built in rangefinder for about the same price as the non-LRF Pulsar sight but still expensive. No easy solutions!

    • @EDGEoftheOUTBACK
      @EDGEoftheOUTBACK  2 года назад

      I run a Leica LRF so that sucks in a fair bit of light.

    There is a difference between being a hunter and a shooter I say you’re a shooter when u use thermal scopes to shoot the animal and sadly there’s a lot of trophy animals taken using these scopes not much to be proud off
