Thanks for explaining program mode. I knew there had to be a way to trigger phrases from the pattern editor but I couldn't figure it out. 6:16 Now I understand it's by programming the Z command.
Yea the Z command is the easier way. Keymap mode work's well too. Another sneaky method is to send program messages from the inst. midi FX back to the instrument. ruclips.net/video/supkcwOh9rU/видео.html :)
As a producer switching from classic DAW music production to making music in Renoise and Tracker in general, your tutorials help a ton. Thank you for the great work!
Hey Huggy, Thanks for your comment dude! I'm glad you're getting into trackers. They're so fun to use and really give you a different perspective and workflow for music production. If you have any questions, hit me up on here for sure! ✌
@@groovining Hello, First I just want to say thank you for these tutorials and tips. It's a ton of fun to watch, but more than that. I have tried using many different DAWs. FL studio, Traktion, Ableton etc, but they never clicked in my head. it was just more complicated than ever. I randomly found OpenMPT and got into but wanted something more. I found Renoise through your channel and am so happy to have something that just works. It all makes sense in my head and your tutorials are set up like you are teaching tools and techniques in a way that can be manipulated and twisted to the viewers own style and that is really amazing. I know your channel is still small but dont let that discourage you. People like me are really digging your stuff. You have a more mild attitude and it makes it so i dont feel like im being talked down to. A lot of the tutorials out there just dont seem to respect the viewer in the way that you do but you also make things clear and easy to understand. I am just getting started in music production and still have a long way to go, but your videos help so much. I would love to see you go through a full song creation process, just like you go in, press record and start making until you feel happy with a track. watching the full workflow is super useful for me and I also would love to learn a little more about the overall composition of a song and seeing it done in a tracker. I dont know if thats possible for you, but it would be really fun to watch. Anyway, thank you so much for your hard work and keep it up. You kick ass and people like you are the reason this music style is staying alive.
@@flintspike307 Hey Flint, Thank you so much for your kind words! Honestly, It means so much to me to hear that people like yourself are benefiting from my videos. I am a very small channel but it still takes a lot of work/editing to get these vids out. It really inspires me to keep putting the time in and pushing my channel when I get such positive feedback so thank you for that! I've got one more Amen breaks video coming out today/tomorrow and then I'll definitely do another track breakdown video in a long format. Most likely DnB this time. I'm also working on a 5-hour course in Renoise 'old-school Jungle track start to finish' Which should hopefully be available in a month or so on my website! I'm also thinking about doing live streams but at the moment these long/edited in-depth videos seem to be going well. I could definitely do some unedited videos just going through producing a track. I think that's a great idea. Cheers dude!✌
BRO! Just smashed that subscribe button... I am just getting back into Renoise after many years. So Phrase Editor confused me a little and you've just cleared it up nicely. Rounded it out with a sick break. Get well soon man !
Thanks, Marty! The Phrase Editor confused me for ages also so I'm glad I could clear that up! Let me know if you need any help with Renoise. I also do private tutoring if you need a sesh or 2 to get up and running again ✌️
Thanks for the great breakdown of the Phrase Editor. I've wondered for years about how to use it well and this is super helpful. I'd still like to see a tute about how to use it as an arpeggiator for melodic instruments. Seems like that's part of what it's supposed to do but the presets are pretty basic for arping.
Hey Ted. Thanks yea the Phase editor take a bit to get your head around but is actually quite an interesting tool. Lots of creative stuff you can do with it. I’ve used it a bit for arps in the past but have a keystep37 which I love for them. Super simple! 😊🚀
great tutorial.. as a renoise user i wasnt even aware line per beat is independent from the main sequencer.. that's gonna open up for me a new kind of aproach to Renoise... thanks..
Thanks dude! I was the same. I avoided the Phrase Editor for ages but it's actually quite a useful tool once you get stuck in. You can also change the LPB for individual sections in the main windows using the ZLxx command but I often find it less confusing to do it all in the phrase editor and trigger the different phrases!
@@groovining oh yes via keymap....another unique feature.. it would be cool in the next updates to have some kind of modular enviroment... something like jeskola buzz.. another great software that seems to be utterly dead
well done mate! I use phrase editor like individual pattern length on elektron devices to get unexpected, complex loops. had to figure it out the hard way by reading the manual but it was worth the effort haha. renoise is the beast G!
Cheers bruv - yea Renoise is 10/10 so wicked. Ah that's actually a great idea! - like polymeter as the divisions are the same but the meter is different.

Hey Moloko - I am! Yea good thanks - nothing to worry about :) Nice bro - I think it's very useful - let me know if you have any questions.
You can use Note Randomizer on phrases, just use "selected phrase" from its drop down menu.
Ah nice - thanks for the tip, I didnt know that! ✌️
what a shame they dont seem to be uptading this software..
They did actually release a small new update the other day, but I agree it's a slow process. Think it's mainly a one-man band so what can you do?!
